Private Tatooine Hunt

Two days had passed since he landed on Tatooine, finding the trail of his mark was the easy part the problem with this one was he was actually somewhat clever he had retreated into the dune sea a good way making pursuit difficult but in the end, people who get bounties on their head aren't exactly the brightest currently he sat on the back of a dewback looking through a pair of macrobinoculars, there was a ridgeline in the distance a good vantage point for either an ambush or an overlook either way it was his best option. Tapping his heel against the dewback it started moving toward the formation.

The twin suns were setting lower in the sky, the night was beginning to fall it would make tracking more difficult if not impossible but it couldn't be helped, he sighed a bit scanning the horizon with his macro binoculars "This guy really is not worth this much trouble, really. Just give up guy" he shook his head at a distinct lack of nothing, the last bit of his trail he found was headed in this direction. Placing the macrobinoculars back on his belt he looked over his shoulder at the mando behind him. "Hinah, we're going to completely lose track of him soon as night falls, there is a ridge not far from here, we'll make camp and set up overwatch" it wasn't the best plan but it's all they could do for now from that vantage point they would be able to see for miles as it was the only thing rising out of the dune sea in this region anyone on foot would be lit up like Kashyyyk on life day, he tapped the dewback with his heel again and it stepped up its pace with a protesting bellow.

At no point in time was the idea of being out on a hot, sandy, sightless planet appealing. There was nothing, in any given direction. Nothing but sand! Sure, there were little places that popped up once in a while, and if you were lucky you came across a town or a port somewhere, but right now? Just sand. A fact that had Hinah slumped forward in her seated position behind Akshae on the Dewback, her helmeted forehead against his back despite the back that she was supposed to be helping to keep an eye out for this mark.

When she was spoken to however, the woman sighed and lift her head so that she could look in the direction her partner in crime had suggested they go and drum up camp. There was really no point in arguing about it, the suns were going down and it would be dark soon. Granted, that meant the temperature would drop, but it also meant that their mark might get brave - and stupid enough - to make a run for it.

"Alright," she finally let out with a nod, even if Akshae couldn't see it at the moment. "If nothing else, having the higher ground might give us a leg up. And who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky and the mark will be really stupid and decide to make a break for it." she shrugged a shoulder, then made a noise when the Dewback picked up pace. "If not, at least we'll be able to get offa this thing..." Which was a plus side for sure.

For the last several days, Siv had been hunted.

Or at least, that was what his gut had told him. He'd stopped over on the small desert planet for repairs and the chance to grab few portions to tie him over while he scoured the Outer Rim for a planet that actually had some good grub that wasn't sold for some exorbitant price. Yet his unique Mandalorian armor had certainly drawn eyes and whispers, whispers that had followed him out of the Cantina and back to the hangar bay. Then, on a whim, Siv had decided to try and throw off his would-be hunters -- he'd paid the hangar-keep extra to tie him over a couple of days, grabbed a speeder and longrifle, and set out to the Tatooine wastelands.

Two days later, Siv was beginning to regret his decision. He'd seen two people steadily following him, and knew that they were probably the ones after him. To make matters worse, they were on dewback instead of speeders. Just the time spent waiting for them to catch up as he moved positions was time-consuming, and it was straining his supplies as well. He could hunt well enough, but there was little game on Tatooine and even less water. His beskar'gam wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing in the heat, either, although the Code prevented him from taking it off. He'd rather suffer from the heat than have his honor as a Mandalorian be stripped away by some chance passerby, or worse, his attackers.

As the twin suns began to set for the third night, Siv was beginning to get tired of playing lothcat and mouse. He'd made his third 'encampment' on a low-lying ridge set against the vast dune sea surrounding it. His actual encampment though consisted of a hiding spot and himself. His plan was simple -- he'd wait for the two to make their own camp, then he would set on them while they were at their least guarded. But for now, he sat wrapped in a cloak, watching the two on their dewback through his helmet's rangefinder as the twin suns continued to set.

Akshae nodded while he guided the dewback toward the rock formation "him doing something stupid would be the preferable thing at this point, the money isn't good enough for the hassle so far" the trip taking longer than expected due to he suspected the heat or the desert itself giving no helpful bearings, but for the former, it would soon not be a problem, when they reached the rock face he slipped off the dewback and gave Hinah Dragr a hand down off the creature, rather than have her land on her face or her ass either would be likely, once she was safely on the ground he would turn and drive a spike into the rock and tie off the dewback to it.

"Head on up HInah, I'll make sure our ride doesn't wander off or you know get stolen." walked to the right-hand side of the creature would simply kneel down in the sand next to the dewbacks reigns and began setting a simple snare that he pulled from his belt, it was small enough that a dewback would not accidentally trigger it but anyone attempting to mess with the reigns for the dewback would get a nasty surprise, carefully folding the sand over the trap he rose and moved to join HInah above. Akshae followed her up to the top of the ridge and took a quick look around before pulling out the macro binoculars watching the horizon "Well, nothing yet odd's are he'll try to hit our camp, it's what I would do anyway"

"What are the odds of that working out in our favor though?" It was a legitimate question as much as it was a smartassed one. The way things had been going thus far, the likelihood of their mark doing anything stupid or slipping up was slim to none. Desirable, preferred, yes. But not likely. A fact which made Hinah sigh even as the beast the pair of them were perched upon finally came to a halt. She had watched Akshae slide from the creature, then was all too thankful to have the offered help down, because had she been left to do so on her own? Ten to one odds she would have eaten sand, and that would have done nothing to help her steadily souring mood.

When instructed to head up the ridge, the brunette had given pause and squint rather unfavorably at the obstacle. "This was much more agreeable when it was further away." she stated, more to herself than to him though she had said the words aloud either way. But with a sigh - and a brief moment to rub her sore thighs from the ride, Hinah began the trek up the ridge. By the time she had both gotten there, and Akshae had joined her, the brunette was sat down. Partially from her legs being tired and partially to make herself a less large and visible target.

"No fires, no lights." she stated. "Anything that creates light is just going to make us visible." She knew that he knew this, but she felt the need to say it anyhow. "So you're just going to have to suck it up if you get cold once it gets dark." Fact of the matter was, she would get cold before he did, and she knew it. Didn't keep her from teasing him about it, though.

Waiting was hard.

But despite the inconvenience, Siv was no stranger to waiting. On a job on Ord Mantell, he'd crouched in a fetal position for almost four days straight, surviving off of his own sweat and carefully-rationed nutrition cubes just to wait for his target -- a debt-laden broker -- to emerge from his compound. He'd made the hunt successful, but it had taken a week and a half-dozen stim injections before Siv's body wasn't tightening up with muscle cramps anymore. Comparatively, sitting ina secluded spot was almost luxurious. Siv would manage.

As the night drew on, Tatooine's surface spun away from its signature twin suns, and the temperature began to drop. While extremely hot in the day, Tatooine could drop to almost frigid temperatures during the night; not enough to freeze, even if there was any moisture to freeze, but enough to warrant a kind of heat source. Siv's cloak acted as a great insulator, but from his spying, he knew that the two hunting him didn't have the same kind of warm gear. They had relied on fire the last two nights, and Siv knew that they would have to light a fire again or risk the night cold.

He was prepared to strike when they lit the fire and had settled in. He couldn't imagine them doing anything otherwise.
