The Lost One
Biography
Born to one of the many families living in poverty on the lower levels of Coruscant, Tash seemed destined to languish in the industrial districts as his parents had for years. The odds of someone improving their lot in life on affluent planet was rather slim, after all. It was a matter of luck if one could escape such a life, and luck appeared to be on young Tash's side. By the age of 5 he was already determined to be force sensitive and soon thereafter was swooped away to the New Jedi Order, though whether it was a matter of trying to secure a better life for their child or for monetary compensation for their contribution to the order's ranks, he'd never know.
Life as a youngling wasn't the most pompous of lifestyles but Tash quickly adjusted to life in the order, though having regular meals and not hearing blaster shots at night would make that a rather easy transition. Daily training and lessons, an abundance of children his age to bond with, and a sense of safety and comfort in his new home amongst the Jedi made the years fly by until finally he had constructed his own lightsaber and was officially made a Padawan.
His master was the Jedi Knight, Quin Penin, a rather eccentric Jedi even by the NJO's standards. Wise beyond measure, sure, but one would hardly assume one as bombastic and personable as Quin was a Jedi. Going from a rather simple and subdued life in the halls of their order to being out and about on distant worlds on all varieties of missions and training lessons, barely staying long at any one place, was quite the abrupt change in his daily life though Tash grew to love it. It's one thing to be taught within the safety of the order on how to use your powers and quite another to be out and about actually putting it to use every day.
For years Tash worked with his master, growing as a Jedi and spreading good wherever they went, all the way until he was 17 years of age. The two were aboard a mining station in the Devaron system, fighting off a group of pirates. Like so many missions before, they worked in perfect unison and easily fended off the thugs. At least, it had seemed so until they boarded their starfighters and were about to launch into hyperspace when a surprise volley from behind made master Quin's vessel erupt into a ball of flame just as it vanished from his sight. When Tash arrived to where they were supposed to jump to, he found no evidence of his master's ship.
Immediately Tash got to work, searching every nearby system, chasing down every lead he could find, investigating every single angle he could think of. He fully immersed himself into the search, and yet time and time again he found dead ends and false leads. Only after a year of practically radio silence from him did he finally return to the New Jedi Order, once such a cheerful padawan now somber as he turned in the lightsaber of his master. Even after all of that time, the only thing he found to get any closure on what happened to his master was his broken lightsaber. No body. No ship. No further leads to pursue.
With only the faintest glimmer of hope that perhaps working with the order and letting force guide him will allow him another chance to find what truly befell his master, the padawan resumed his duties in serving the New Jedi Order and the Galactic Alliance.
