- Prison Ship - The interior of the Tartarus is like any prison ship and outfitted to contain it's prisoners who reside in cramped cells. Equiped with an internal turret defence system as well as chargin ports for multiple security droids any attempt for prisoners to break out or for people to break in will be met with heavy resistance.
- Prison Ship - Maximising space for prisoners while keeping it small enough to fufill its law enforcement roll as a pursuit craft the Tartarus will find itself outgunned against larger sized vessels, from frigates to star destroyers. This makes the craft not the best combat craft and it often requires an escort to do more than just hold it's own.
The Tartarus-class Prison Transport is a ship designed in order to assist local law enforcement agencies with incarcerating suspects while out on patrol, effectively bringing the holding cell to the crime scene. Often found patrolling, the prison transport is no easy target to take down, equipped with 4 light turbolasers, 2 hull mounted laser cannons and a heavy ion cannon which it uses to disable fleeing ships. The Tartarus is also well shielded and the interior is no easier to break through either with hallway laser turrets and charging ports for a squad of security droids, ready to suppress any prison riots. Prisoners unlucky enough to fall into the grasp of the tartarus are pushed into cramp cells for maximum efficiency with barely enough room for an adult male to lie down. Despite this there are a few bigger cells to accommodate larger species.
