  • Races: None
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
    • Heightened senses: Tarrin Hounds have excellent senses, many times that of any human or near human. These senses allow them to hear sounds at long distances and smell scents that are days old.
[*]Quick learners: These canines are capable of learning both simple and complex commands with relative ease. Making them both good guard dogs and family pets.
Weaknesses:
    • Lack of sentience: As smart as they may seem, Tarrin Hounds are still just dogs. They rely on basic instincts for survival rather than solve problems logically.
[*]Lots of fur: Tarrin Hounds have a dense fur coat and while they can survive in the semi-arid lowlands of Arsenae, they prefer the colder mountains of the Tarrin range. To much activity in warm weather can cause them to over heat.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivore. Will occasionally eat grass to help with digestion.
  • Communication: Barks, yips, and howls. Will also communicate through body language such as wagging their tail in happiness or lowering it in fear; ears pointed up when calm and back in a threatening manner, will also bare teeth in aggression.
  • Technology level: Don't possess technology.
  • Religion/Beliefs: No religion.
  • General behavior: Tarrin Hounds are a domesticated breed of canine that live in packs. A sociable animal that follows that forms strong bonds with its owner. Feral Tarrin hounds form small packs with a loosely formed hierarchy lead by the eldest of the pack. These elders lead the adult hounds on hunts for wild game. Tarrin Hounds socialize through a variety of barks, howls and yips. Most feral Tarrin Hounds leave people and their livestock alone, preferring to stay away from populated areas. Mated pairs of hounds will stay together for the rest of their lives and will rarely take another mate if the other dies.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Tarrin Hounds are the oldest canine breed on Arsenae, dating back to roughly twenty five thousand years BBY. A strong and hardy breed well suited for the colder Tarrin mountain range for which they are named after. A working class dog mostly commonly associated with goat herders and farmers in mountain villages. Originally bred to defend livestock herds from wild predators, the species soon found itself all across Arsenae as not only as guard animals but faithful companions for families. Being easily trainable and possessing a calm disposition, has made this canine a common sight not only on farms but noble houses and even in temples.
