SPECIAL FEATURES
- Two Kyber Crystals: The Greatsaber contains two kyber crystals which afford it some modularity as they can be cycled through creating two distinct differences in the lightsaber blade. Further modularity can be taken into account in the sense that the crystal could, in theory be swapped for others to create additional distinctions in the blade.
- Large and powerful: As with any weapon of great size, etc the Greatsaber is capable of delivering powerful blows and has a greater reach than many of its counterparts. The Varpeline Crystal fitted into its hilt can also increase the power of its blade so that it is capable of cutting through harder, more resilient materials. As an example Beskar, while still incredibly resistant to the blade of a lightsaber could be cut through given time and intensity of blows. Phrik, naturally resistant to a lightsaber is also less durable due to the aforementioned reasons.
- Wider Blade: The Nishalorite Stone used in the Greatsaber can effectively thicken the weapons blade. While this may seem more cosmetic than functional at first glance this is not entirely the case. A thicker blade allows for a larger area of impact allowing the wielder to rely less on precision than might otherwise be afforded, this can play into defense as well as offense.
- Large and unwieldy: The Greatsaber is a large weapon, its hilt is effectively lengthen in order to provide a two-handed grip to accommodate for the longer blade. Taken into consideration alongside the fact that it is still a lightsaber variant and essentially weightless because of this and the Greatsaber can be awkward to use in combat. Most often utilized by larger individuals it becomes even more cumbersome in the hands of someone of regular size and in both cases still requires specialized training beyond that of a regular lightsaber.
- The Regulars: A Greatsaber suffers all the regular hardships of a lightsaber. It will not ignite under water or will deactivate shortly after it is submerged beneath a water surface. Cortosis also affect the blade causing it to 'short out' and deactivate for a short amount of time before it can be reignited.
The Greatsaber was designed by Taregh Garon as an alternative to a regular lightsaber given his large size in comparison to other wielders. In many ways it is similar to a standard Great Lightsaber in that it has a reinforced hilt and more powerful emitter systems to accommodate for the larger blade. Its hilt is lengthy, stretching long enough to provide a comfortable grip for two hands with room for a third in between them.
When activated the blade extends to over two meters in length and is crimson in color. Its blade burns with a greater intensity than normal thanks to the Varpeline Crystal installed in its hilt which accounts for an increased ability to cut through the hardest materials and objects, even Mandalorian Iron is not exempt though it would still take a number of heavy blows to cut through it. A Nishalorite Stone in the hilt can also cycle through to make the blade of the Greatsaber even wider than would otherwise be possible.
Unlike a traditional lightsaber the greatsaber variation focuses more on powerful blows and overwhelming opponents than acrobatics and precision though with proper training skillful techniques are not beyond its scope. Larger individuals can wield it with one or two hands however two hands is still the preference, an average sized humanoid would need two hands to wield it properly and a smaller one would likely find it incredibly awkward to do so regardless due to its size.
