Physical Profile
Of approximately average height for a human female, Talyn has a slight, willowy build. She maintains excellent physical shape through vigorous exercise, and is stronger and tougher than she may appear. She maintains regulation above-the-shoulder length for her golden hair, ensuring that it cannot easily be grabbed in combat, but rarely ties it back; thick and straight, it tends to stay in place. Talyn has heterochromia; her left and right eyes have different pigmentation, a visually striking feature that many consider to contribute to her general attractiveness.Generally perceived as beautiful by human and near-human standards, Talyn has undergone vigorous training as a soldier and officer in order to ensure that she is perceived as competent and authoritative. Although rifle and hand-to-hand certified, her highest marks in combat training are with her sidearm, with which she is an excellent shot. She carries herself ramrod-straight, with the crisp movements befitting an Imperial officer. Her voice is calm, cold, and commanding. Although treated for minor injuries, Talyn has no scars, tattoos, or other distinguishing marks.
+ Talyn is physically fit, capable of running, jumping, lifting, carrying, swimming, climbing, and other strenuous tasks for extended periods of time.
+ Talyn is a gifted marksman, particularly with blaster pistols. She is trained and certified in a wide range of weapons, both ranged and melee.
- Talyn is physically smaller than the average soldier, making her less suited for brute-force attacks or extended close combat engagements.
- Talyn struggles to project authority as a commanding officer due to her attractiveness, which leads some to underestimate her or fail to take her seriously.
Psychological Profile
Orphaned at an early age, Talyn is detached and self-reliant, capable of making snap decisions and operating independently in the field. Her childhood experiences also taught her to greatly value order and stability, which were honed during her time with the Imperial Navy into a fierce devotion to the core values of the Imperial Remnant: enforced peace and security, with every sentient in its proper place. Although polite and deferential, with a service mentality that asks for no reward, Talyn has formed few strong friendships and no lasting romantic attachments. In the field, Talyn strikes a balance between deep knowledge of established tactics and clever improvisation. She is strengthened by Imperial combat doctrine, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the vessels under her command and how to apply them, but is not limited by its strictures. She is an unpredictable commander to face, moving by the book until suddenly shifting tactics to catch the enemy off guard and gain the upper hand. She is at all times expedient; she is willing to make sacrifices to achieve victory, but she will not waste equipment or personnel.
+ Talyn is capable of thinking on her feet, interpreting her orders cleverly or creating excellent plans of her own when operating without direct oversight.
+ Talyn is a skilled commander, using her deep knowledge of her forces, military history, and tactical doctrine in conjunction with an ability to improvise.
- Talyn is cold and independent, rarely forming relationships that go beyond the professional level. She is a soldier, not a diplomat, and rarely steps outside that role.
- Talyn thinks in terms of the Imperial values of enforced stability at any cost, and has little sympathy for those unwilling to make the same sacrifices.
Service Record
Talyn Krane was born on Crina in 822 ABY. Her parents were staunch Royalists, and impressed on young Talyn the importance of loyalty and civic duty. They worked hard and lived modestly in order to save enough money to send her to private school, where she excelled. Two days after her eighth birthday, however, Talyn lost both parents in a bombing carried out by revolutionaries. She was allowed to continue attending the school on a scholarship, but volunteered to work six hours a day after classes in order to justify her room and board. She continued to do this until her early graduation at sixteen.Upon graduating, Talyn immediately enlisted in the officer training program at the St. Tiberius Military Academy in Crina's capital of Stefania. Around this time escalating revolutionary attacks and the emergence of the One Sith Empire presented local and interplanetary threats to Crina, and enlistment levels were high. However, Talyn managed to stand out even among the officer corps for her discipline and ability to rapidly absorb and analyze information. By the time of the Imperial Remnant's intervention on the government's behalf, she was already a commissioned officer.
Talyn earned her first promotion, from Ensign to Lieutenant, at the age of twenty-two during the sporadic but vicious fighting between the combined Crinan-Remnant Navy and the Rebel Alliance. Although the Alliance ultimately disintegrated, the One Sith invasion of Crina followed shortly thereafter and forced the Imperial Remnant and the Crinan Defense Forces to evacuate the planet. Talyn was promoted to Commander for valiant conduct under fire during the evacuation and formally absorbed into the Imperial Navy, where she continued to serve.
Soon, however, political pressure began to cause deep rifts in the Remnant. Former elements of the Crinan military appealed for assistance from the Republic in reconquering their homeworld, a move seen as unforgivable by Remnant hardliners who despised the weak, corrupt democratic government. In spite of her Crinan heritage, Talyn aligned with the latter group. Ultimately, it mattered little; the rifts could not be mended, and internal politics destroyed the Remnant as a cohesive force capable of influencing galactic affairs. Talyn and the ship she commanded were on their own.
Over the next several years, Talyn and her crew engaged in guerrilla attacks on isolated One Sith vessels and installations, doing limited damage but striking back as much as they were able. When the One Sith Empire finally fell, she considered returning home, but decided that nothing remained for her there. When she heard the formation of a new Remnant intending to carry on Imperial principles on the world of Bilbringi, she traveled there immediately to offer her services as a naval officer. In light of her prior service and the initiative she had shown, she was awarded the rank of captain.
