- Talisman of Transformation. This amulet is enchanted with the spirit of the chiroptix. By invoking the power of the enchantment, the wearer can temporarily take the form of the chiroptix. Their humanoid body, including clothing and items that they may be carrying, are contained within the area of the Force known to the Witches of Dathomir as the Spirit Realm.
- Enchantment (Ears of the Chiroptixhttps://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ears_of_the_Chiroptix). Even when in human form, the wearer of this amulet possesses the preternatural hearing of the chiroptix. This allows the wearer a form of echolocation, enabling them to see by making use of the soundwaves around them, rather than by sight, allowing the wearer to navigate in perfect darkness provided that there is both sound and a reflective surface to bounce the wave back.
- Sensitive Hearing. Because of the enchanted hearing, the wearer of the talisman is susceptible to sudden or loud noises. Intense levels of sound, such as a concert, are painful and may even stun the wearer.
- Training Required. The wearer doesn't automatically know how the body of the chiroptix is intended to function. Similarly, to be effective at using the spell Ears of the Chiroptix, one must practice extensively with using only their hearing for "sight" before they would be effective at doing so.
- About That Food Chain... When in the form of a chiroptix, the wearer is bound by both the physical and social limitations of that form. This includes the possibility of both humanoids and predatory animals reacting to the wearer as they would toward a pest or prey.
- Force Connection Required. The enchantment on this talisman only function in areas where a connection with the Force is possible.
The Talisman of the Chiroptix was one of the fabled Talismans of Transformation created by the Witches of Dathomir through their shamanistic magic. The metamorphosis invoked by the talisman was a Force power that neither the Jedi nor the Sith were able to explain. The talisman was created by a shaman of the Mandragora and was in the possession of the Nightbrother Jorah zos Darnus by the year 858 ABY.
The Talisman of the Chiroptix was said to channel the spirit of the namesake creature, imbuing its wearer with both the acute hearing of the bat-like mammal as well as the ability to take on the physical form of the chiroptix. The wearer's enchanting hearing was so acute as to be able to see using mere whispers in perfect darkness. When transformed into the form of a chiroptix, the wearer's physical body (along with any clothing and accessories) were believed to be stored in the spirit realm until such time as the Spirit of the Chiroptix and the soul of the wearer exchanged locations in the physical and spiritual realms respectively).
While in the form of a chiroptix, the wearer was constrained to the physical limitations of that body, though retained all their own mental faculties. This included the ability to use some Force-based abilities, such as telepathy. All of this was only possible in areas in which a connection with the Force was possible. Abilities and areas which denied access to the Force or degraded the ability of an individual to draw upon the Force negated the powers of the talisman. Similar, a wearer who entered an area of Force Negation would find themselves trapped in that physical form until able to use the Force once more.
