Zeradias Mant
Democracy Dies in Darkness

"Coming out of hyperspace now, sir.", the navigation officer called out. Without acknowledgement, Zeradias went to the captain's chair and sat. He wanted to be on the bridge when they came into orbit of Kamino, the capital of an emerging power in this corner of the galaxy. Word quickly spread of their formation after the subjugation of Kamino, launched from a local lord's holdings on Void Station.
With a subtle nod and blink from Mant, the navigation officer barked his orders to bring the ship into low orbit of Kamino. Servicemen began firing up the scanners to locate the Imperial Remnant base. It didn't take long before something was picked up - except it wasn't the imperial base, but rather a ship of theirs on the radar.
"Sir, contact due 38 degrees starboard side, 100 plus kilometers out. They're closing on our position fast!", the nav officer shouted. Zeradias stood and descended down the stairs to the workstations where the servicemen and officers performed their duties.
After observing the foreign star destroyer get bigger as it approached, he briskly walked to the communications officer. "Patch me through." After a few moments, he was connected to an open channel in which he might hail the other ship. Not having the IFF of the Imperial Remnant was inconvenient, but tis was the price of surprise diplomacy.
"Unidentified vessel, this is the ISV Retribution, Aegis Initiative, Iron Empire Navy. Halt your advance and identify.", he said sternly into the comlink. Turning away with the mic muted, he summoned a young serviceman. "Lieutenant Forgrin's presence is needed on the bridge, forthwith." With a 'right away, sir' and nod of acknowledgement, the young man disappeared.
This was not how diplomacy began, but the safety of his ship and all the souls aboard it took priority. Zeradias doubted the vessel would engage in hostilities - if it belonged to the Remnant as he expected it did, it'd be foolish for them to engage. Though, the Retribution was in their house now.
The admiral's pale eyes looked into the deep unknown, the star destroyers continuing to close the distance. His heart beat a little faster, but that's when he functioned best.
