This thread is just for fun (Non-Canon) and/or to help get accustomed to dogfighting.
All entrants are to use the canon X-83 TwinTail starfighter.

Pilot Sressechka, formerly known as the Sensational Sunburner, and most recently designated as Blue Five, swept over the turquoise orb that was Mon Calamari in her TwinTail fighter. The starship's S-foils were set in cruise position and its canopy turned towards the watery world for the twi'lek to marvel at the sights above her head. The swirling colors of blue and white gave it a painted appearance. It was something only a pilot could have the privilege of lazily observing these days.

The rutian smiled and tuned into some music from Republic Radio 109.7 - Farlands Classics. Patrol missions were the bomb. No one barked in your ear about staying on target or following the leader. Nope, just a mandatory check-in every thirty minutes was sufficient enough.

Sressechka performed a few rolls of her TwinTail, rotating the scenery from beautiful, exotic world to mysterious, deep space. A few spins, and she was ready to relax. Setting her autopilot to a standard orbital flight pattern, she closed her eyes and enjoyed the music and her solitude.

Tip #1: Remember which way gravity is pulling. Flying away from a planet will slow down your speed significantly. Flying towards a planet will phenomenally increase your speed. However, once you have dived, you will likely have to climb back up again. Use your dives wisely!

Also, if you dive into the atmosphere too fast, your ship will tear apart.

Scouting. Always. I'm always stuck with scouting, of all the jobs in this bloody place... Why cant I stay on the ship for once?

Mit sighed, immediately fogging up the inside of his helmet. He wiped off the helmet and climbed up the tall ladder into his starfighter. Alarms blared as his ship slowly lifted off from the ground and shot out of the carrier's docking bay.

As he flew away from the carrier, he tuned into the ground base's radio. Mostly just comms chatter, nothing special. Although it was something to listen to. Mit powered up his thrust and started on his rout. All the way around the planet, hoping there was no one up here...

The ping of a foreign IFF signal awoke Sressechka from her daydreaming as the computer system automatically dimmed the music she had tuned in to. Due to sensors being rather long-ranged, the alien starcraft had been detected long before the naked eye could spot the little speck. But they were closing in on each other rapidly, and it was only a few minutes before the rutian twi'lek could discern a rather familiar shape coming in.

Rechecking her scope console, the pilot frowned at the neon-red color that filled in the radar silhouette of another X-83 fighter. Hostiles? Jolted from her relaxation, Sressi flipped her craft over with its belly to the planet below, allowing for a wider view with less atmospheric haze to squint through. She scanned the heavens above and saw no other approaching vessels. Could her sensors be crazy? But that had never happened to her before.

Cautiously continuing headlong for the other starfighter, Sressi drew out farther away from the globe of Mon Calamari, intending to have the gravitational advantage should the lone spaceship be confirmed as hostile. "Unidentified spacecraft," she called out on an open line. "This is Republic Starfighter Corps Ensign Sressechka. Please declare your status and verify your colors." She gripped her yoke and kept an unwavering gaze on the foreign TwinTail. Today was not the best day to have to shoot someone. Hopefully he was on her side.

Tip #2:
Long range - use missiles.
Short range - use guns.

While you do need to conserve your payload, any pilot will tell you that it's best to be safe than sorry. If you can get a lock on a distant starfighter, fire your missiles!
Keep in mind that while torpedoes do have lock-on features, they are not seeker missiles and can only handle so much movement from the target. If you can catch a fighter by surprise, go for the torpedoes. But if your target is aware that you are after him, it may be best to hold off on that.
Concussion missiles and seeker missiles are the best fighter-to-fighter ballistics.

And just FYI, the X-83 only has proton torpedoes. ;)

Braha Saca

Fancy Flying and High Pay Matter
He hoped he was'n the only pilot this day to be picked for the "red team" or attackers. That would be no way to start his career he thought as he climbed into his cockpit. He chose to wear his Mandolorian armor for this mission, as it had a much better field of view, a full 180 degrees, and when linked to his X-wing's systems his starfighter's HUD including shield, and damage reports were instantaneously updated to a screen where he could see them without looking at his control panel. His R5 unit 'Gadget' was certainly a character, programmed for sarcastic remarks outside of a battle, in battle he was as straight forward as Could be. At this point though, his lack of memory wiping had allowed the little R5 unit to develop a personality of his own. There was no reason to wipe his memory though, as he now functioned faster and better than he ever had in the time that Braha had owned him. " You ready for the mission Gadget?" he asked recieving a "Blat Blat BLat!" from his Droid. (Braha's helmet lit up with a translation even though he could tell exactly what his astromech had said by ear. 'You woke me up out of bed for this training mission? now i need to crack some skulls') " Sorry pal, I hope you can understand that the rest of the squad has to get better somehow. We have just been assigned to the position of Red 1." he paused. " I guess that means I will have a Squad Of my own, if Anyone else Joins this training mission." he sighed as he climbed into his fighter and headed to the Red Squadron gathering coordinates. and waited for the order to attack.
