STRENGTHS
Jedi Sentinel: Taanzoga has become a realized Jedi, having been knighted some time ago. Has chosen the path of the Jedi Sentinel, using his bulwark to defend with both lightsaber and Force alike. He seems to prefer a blended form of Soresu and Niman that has been modified to his large stature.
Huttese Biology: As a Hutt, he has some natural abilities. He is more resistant to mental Force powers like mind tricks. His skin can shrug off blaster fire in higher amounts (but is not immune). He regenerates wounded tissues more quickly than a typical sentient.
WEAKNESSES
Outcast: Because of what he is, Taanzoga does not neatly fit in many places. He is outright rejected by his fellow Hutts because of his strange nature and Jedi upbringing. While many fellow Jedi are kind, there are others who still look at him with distance because of their negative views on Hutts.
Heavy: Despite Force assistance, Taanzoga is still a heavy Hutt. He can easily become overwhelmed if confronted with more agile opponents catch him off-guard.
HISTORY
Taanzoga was born into the Gorensla kajidic, and from the start, everyone acted like he was cursed. His skin was way too pale for a Hutt, and his eyes had this icy blue color — the kind of mutation that didn’t spark curiosity, just disgust. In a clan that worshipped strength, cunning, and usefulness to the kajidic, people saw Taanzoga as an embarrassment. They whispered that he was a stain on the bloodline. That low opinion only got worse when, as a kid, Taanzoga started having disturbing visions: flashes of distant worlds, feelings that didn’t belong to him, nightmares that left him shaking with terror. No one tried to understand or help him. They just tossed him aside, leaving him to face neglect and cruelty worse than what they'd give the lowest servant.
All of that shifted the day a wandering Jedi stumbled upon the Gorensla holdings. This Jedi sensed something powerful beneath the frightened child’s pain. Seeing the signs of Force-sensitivity, the Jedi pulled Taanzoga out of that hopeless existence, managing to secure his freedom from relatives who didn’t care whether he lived or died. The Jedi took Taanzoga in — not just to study him, but to show a little compassion, which was something new for him. Pretty soon, everyone realized his visions weren’t madness. They were the budding signs of a genuine connection to the Force.
Taanzoga became the student of Master Silabhad, a Pau’an Jedi infamous for his stern discipline but respected for wisdom and patience. Under Silabhad’s watchful eye, Taanzoga worked to master the fear and instability that had ruled him for so long. He stood out, of course—a pale, huge Hutt, awkward among the other initiates—but he endured. Eventually, he found his place as a Jedi Sentinel: a guardian who walks the messy borderlands between civilization and chaos, focused on wisdom, practicality, and service.
Since earning his knighthood, Taanzoga hasn’t stuck to any temple. He couldn’t stand the thought of falling into the same rut as the decadent Hutts who cast him out, but he’s never really managed to shake off the shadow of his childhood. Now, he travels from one planet to another in his enormous ship. Sometimes it’s a praxeum, sometimes a safe harbor for people with nowhere else to go, sometimes both. Here, far from the order and safety of established Jedi enclaves, he teaches, shelters, and keeps knowledge alive. Sure, he’s different—monstrous to look at, with a past full of pain and rejection—but anyone who actually gets to know him sees a patient, deeply compassionate master waiting beneath the surface.
These days (900 ABY), Taanzoga has finally found a bit of belonging with the High Jedi Order on Naboo. For once, he gets to use his wisdom and his massive wandering home for something bigger than just himself.
