SPECIAL FEATURES
  • This vehicle's communications and computer systems allows it and its crew to transmit precisely what its seeing to anyone and everyone in its data network, allowing for smooth and accurate command and control with all vehicles capable of triangulating such things as incoming fire to pin down possible source points and communicating this to their colleagues.
  • Offensive Abilities:
    • Complex sensor suite for all crew members, including multispectral scanners.
    • Complex fire control computer able to pick out and identify target signatures by their thermal, visual, EM, and IR signatures of many vehicles that its fire control system is made aware of. This allows it to determine if a vehicle is real, a physical decoy, or even a holographic projection.
    • Independent magnetic stabilizers for all its weapons.
  • Defensive Abilities:
    • Main Hull: Layers of high-chromium durasteel, depleted baradium, and heat-resistant carbonite ranging from 400mm Frontal Armor, 350mm Side Armor, and 300mm Rear Armor. Bottom is V-Shaped to deflect blasts from mines and IED's. All weapons systems possess a fire-fighting system to prevent catastrophic magazine detonations, and in the event this cannot be avoided the magazines have blow-out panels that funnel the explosive force outside of the vehicle to protect the hull itself and the crew.
    • Crew Cockpit: Made of 180mm titanium and 80mm of heat-resistant carbonite. It also sealed against all biological, radiological, and chemical weapons for crew protection.
    • Turret: Possesses a similar armor scheme to the hull, but it is only 3/4 of the hull's thickness.
    • Post-Production Addons/Upgrade Packages: (All are currently used by the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces)
STRENGTHS
  • Modular construction, making repairs somewhat easier
  • A very sturdy vehicle, built with crew survival as its top priority.
  • It is an older design, meaning it is available in large numbers.
  • Unaffected by traversing through shield bubbles due to its tracks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Requires trained motor pool personnel to properly keep a fleet of these vehicles running.
  • Requires large amounts of time to properly train in the operation of this vehicle and longer to learn how to properly use it in combat.
  • Slower than hovercrafts, and cannot traverse over water or thin ice.
  • Going top speed makes this vehicle difficult to control in anything but a straight line or long bends on prepared surfaces and is very hard on its transmission.
DESCRIPTION
Built on the sturdy and proven T-Series of tanks from Yultrane-Trackata the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces has been a constant and reliable buyer of YT's armored vehicles. The T80 series of chassis is the latest of the tank family whose ancestors did battle with the likes of AT-AT's and AT-ST's. Taking the proven formula of nimbleness over soft terrain, armor, firepower, and low target profile and expanding upon it the T-80 is the first of the family to abandon twin heavy laser cannons in favor of the much more powerful J-10 Long-Barrel Proton Cannon, a former anti-aircraft cannon, itself a descendant of walker-killer weapons dating back to the Clone Wars. This vehicle takes the reliable T4 chassis and added onto it, adding in another section of road wheels and return rollers, allowing for the needed ammunition storage of the J-10 cannon and an enlarged engine and improved transmission system. However, armor and crew survivability became more important, and much of the bow of the tank was redesigned from its original open glass cockpit design to not having such a weakness at all, although top speed was sacrificed for this added protection. Continuing YT's trend of adding on excellent sensory systems the T80-T comes with all the essentials and over the years it has been improved upon with additional and improved countermeasures systems as well as a flexibility in terms of having several different scales of anti-personnel weapons and light anti-armor laser cannons.

However, in terms of RP, this vehicle, when used, may be prone to RPers not using it in the combined arms tactical doctrine it was designed for, and then it could be considered overpowered if an RPer doesn't know where to draw the line, as this vehicle's defensive capabilities have their limits, and its offensive capabilities as well may find certain heavier targets hard to crack open. This is a vehicle which excels when being used alongside others of its kind with infantry support being a prime directive of this vehicle and urban survival being another added priority. For species or biologically augmented individuals with night vision this vehicle is especially hazardous due to its powerful IR Dazzler systems which can blind almost any night vision optics or devices and makes this vehicle a terrifying opponent to face in the darkness and rather difficult to kill without a ballistic weapon or a missile whose seeking capability isn't IR dependent. This vehicle is a very dangerous opponent for infantry when it is where it is intended to be used from, long range with only its turret poking up from a position of defilade. When committed to an assault this vehicle is meant to be used as an armored battering ram, its sheer mass and firepower being enough to pummel its way into and through enemy lines and then fanning out with mechanized infantry support to assault and defeat their opponents.
