DESCRIPTION
The T-50H Tri-Wing starfighter was developed by FreiTek Incorporated as the next generation fighter craft for the Corellian Confederation as the military began shifting towards a more centralized model and to replace nearly decade old X-Wings and Crossfires still in service since the Alliance days. Plagued by political opponents of accelerated militarization and further centralization of the government the development cycle for the T-50H and its sister ships was frequently halted, resulting in the final product being completed mere weeks before the Confederation voted to become a Republic. Having already contracted several new and standardized designs for the centralized military from Republic Engineering on Coruscant, FreiTek was forced to go to public market with its completed designs. Despite Corellia herself pushing for this shift, their influence was not enough to have the fighter become the mainstay of this nascent Republic. Instead, Corellia's own defense force adopted the fighter as its mainstay.

Initial overheating issues with the starfighter's weapons systems however caused many Corellian pilots to continue to use the Alderaanian Engineering T-90 X-Wing even after the issues were resolved. Despite its troubled past, the T-50H was an incredible fighter built for the modern era. Contrary to its Incom lineage, the T-50H lacked the classic S-foils of many Incom and FreiTek designs, instead opting for a mostly fixed-wing design which only folded for storage purposes. Stored beneath the fighter's hull was an advanced astromech dock developed to support various types of astromech and mechanic droids, allowing it to perform spot repairs on internal systems while remaining protected under the ship's armor. The canopy was able to retract as well when quick exterior repairs. The droid canopy It also featured cutting edge droid processing enhancements, allowing both new and old astromechs to perform hyperspace calculations at blistering speeds.

The weapon complement of the T-50H was as impressive as its predecessors. The vessel sported two swivel mounted heavy laser cannons placed at the nose as well as two dedicated missile launchers and a flexible ordinance bay also allowed the Tri-Wing to function as a light torpedo bomber when the need arose. The T-50H was no more maneuverable than its predecessors, but maintained a clear advantage in speed over many fighter-bombers which made up for its lack of advanced maneuvering struts or jets. Its class one hyperdrive allowed it to act as part of larger force, acting as aggressive recon craft or participate in hit and fade attacks popularized by storied resistance fighters of days past. Not surprisingly, the T-50H's last minute refit left plenty of space for survival gear both in its rear tail compartment and in the passenger and navigator seat. This allowed recon teams to perform long and missions away from the fleet. The open canopy design also allowed the pilot to see more of their surroundings with advanced aural sensors more accurately simulating sound with less latency.

In light of its development cycle and the political storm surrounding it and its sister ships, the T-50H Tri-Wing "Hurricane" starfighter would ultimately become one of Corellia's effective combat fighters and would see wide-spread service among numerous private owners and planetary defense forces. While galactic fame would be taken from it, its sturdy design would keep it in service for years to come.
