Nenn exercises effective control over the corporation and serves as the principal authority responsible for determining its long-term strategic direction.
Under his stewardship, Syr Vhal has become something deliberately difficult to define.
It is simultaneously a commercial enterprise, an Umbaran technological institution, a defense contractor and a discreet mechanism through which Barragh may acquire, develop and distribute advanced technologies without requiring every project to travel through conventional governmental procurement channels.

Governments possessed fleets, armies and enormous industrial resources, yet genuinely unconventional technology remained considerably more difficult to obtain.
The resulting organization became Syr Vhal Advanced Systems.
