The Cracked Mirror
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Upon the founding of the Legion of the Damned it became more and more obvious that men and women who were not proper soldiers would likely not wear a proper uniform.
The Legion's unwillingness to cooperate with official dress standards eventually became too much of a handle for anyone to actually care, and thus for it's first few operations the members of The Legion went completely unarmored. This, of course, was immediately seen as stupidity and utter folly, something that was addressed almost as soon as they returned.
Despite this however The Legion remained unwilling to adhere to any true dress standard, most of the members wanting to keep their own style.
Whether this was a way to keep their identity or simply a case of criminals being divas is unknown, but eventually The Legion was able to finnagle a compromise. Through negotiations with certain Sith within the hierarchy The Legion was able to get hold of certain Research and Development scientists upon Raekkar. These men and women gave The Legion a material what was known as Synthweave.
Initially thought a failure due to the fact that it was only a slight improvement on Armorweave, The Legion proved that it could indeed be effective.
It's nature as an incredibly flexible and malleable material meant that Synthweave could be transformed very easily into everything from Vests to a full cuirass. This was a big hit with members of the Legion, and the material was quickly adopted by almost every single member, each with their own different style.

- Multipurpose: Synthweave was designed and created by scientists on Raekkar to be a baseline average. The material was created to serve almost the same purpose as Armorweave, but on a slightly more enhanced scale. The material is specifically crafted by layering together several covers of armorweave with tiny plastoid particles laid in between. This combination allows Synthweave to offer greater protection than armorweave while maintaining much of the same flexibility.
- Multipurpose: Synthweave isn't exactly the cream of the crop. The armor will protect from most blaster bolts, ion shots, and blades, but its not about to stop Turbolasers or lightsabers. The Material can at most withstand the blast of a grenade or heavy laser cannon, and even that is pushing it somewhat. Synthweave is an average material, slightly better than armorweave or plastoid but much worse than some other materials in the galaxy.
