Love is not in the air. At least I do not believe that it is. Yet there is a connection between Saul and I. He feels it too and treats it as infatuation. Whereas I have a suspicion that he was injected with a synthetic serum similar to mine, which would make the connection to not be a genuine one.

Although I do find it difficult to admit that he is a somewhat charming gentleman.

So it took some thought in how to study that connection without making it seem as something more than what it is. I decided upon a picnic in the park nearby my residence. There we could talk more privately and I can find out whether or not he has in fact been dosed by the synthetic serum.

I turned on my datapad and typed up a message:

~Saul,

You are cordially invited to a picnic brunch nearby my residence on Bastion in two days time. If that does not work for you, then please let me know as to what date will work for you.

Sincerely,

Liin~

I sent it off shortly thereafter; this way there was no room for me to change my mind. Now I needed to only wait for his response. Will he say no? A large part of me said otherwise. But there is still a twinge of doubt in the back of my head. I could blame the synthetic serum for all of this. But maybe; maybe there could be something genuine about it too.

There is only one way to find out.

Saul heard the ping from his datapad while he had his head up in a wheelwell, his clothes covered in sweat and grease as he reached for it. The message she sent produced a wide grin across his face. It looked like the Executive hadn't forgetten about him after all. The Cyborg was about to reply back when the devil tapped him on his shoulder and whispered an idea in his ear. He was probably going to get guff from Liin and maybe she would even call this brunch off but he couldn't help himself. That devil was really persuasive...

Dear Doctor Scientist Director Terallo's Secretary

Of course, I would love to come over to the park for a devine tea party brunch. I'll even bring Mr. Mcstuffins with me so he can enjoy the good time too. Looking forward to seeing you there, smoochies!

P.S. Please tell Ms. Terallo to wear anything comfortable to her. I'm sure she will look great in anything.

P.S.S. You should ask Ms. Terallo to give you a raise. You are doing such a marvelous job that I don't think she could say no to you.

Saul

Despite going alittle bit overboard with his message, he was on planet, sitting on a park bench at 10 O'clock in the morning, right when and where they had set up to meet.

With a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a box of Wookiee-Ookiee's beside him on the bench, the Cyborg had arrived relativly early to meet Liin. He didn't want to be late to this eventful brunch after all. Sitting with a baseball cap with his favorite Bolo Ball team's logo low over his eyes as he tried to recover some rest after his shuttle flight here, Saul was wearing jeans with a leather jacket over a bright blue t-shirt. The T-Shirt had a picture of a wired brain with a caption of "Be careful, you might lose more than you gain" under it. Saul knew the truth of that statment more than most people. He could only hope with this second meeting that Liin would help give him some of those happy emotions back again.

The reply back was an odd one. And it did not take him long to respond. Was he just sitting around somewhere waiting for it? That is entirely possible. He could be between jobs for all that I knew. He might of even been drinking. Did he drink? I am not too sure.

But that was besides the point. I would just have myself ready when the day approached.

Time had moved quickly. I could feel myself getting a little nervous. Yet that could be due to me just not knowing what to expect. Afterall there are some questions that need to be answered. And not all of the answers would come verbally. Especially if he was injected with a similar synthetic serum as I had been.

I picked out simple summer dress with flowers on it. Afterall I am not the type to dress really casual. This is my casual attire. I just would not be caught dressed in trousers. It is not my style. I carried a picnic basket with me towards the park. Inside was a few sandwiches; wine, glasses and water.

It was not hard to spot Saul. He was dressed unlike the locals. But could he see me very well with his hat seeming to cover his eyes? I approached him quietly. And the closer that I got I could feel that pull through the rib cage again. It was as though it was at my core. I had a guess as to what was causing it, just as I did at the gala. Today I might get my answers!

"
Saul? Is that you?" I could of guessed wrong, afterall, and it might not even be him.

Saul liked to be random enough that people would squint to see if they were reading the message right. It kept the readers on their toes, and it made the Cyborg laugh as he imagined their puzzled faces. That or he had been in that opening without water for too long. Either way, Liin knew he was coming.

The Android heard someone walking up to him as he opened his eyes, staying alert, just as his years on the streets had taught him. It was only when he heard Liin's voice that he tilted his cap back, his eyes going wide as he saw what she was wearing. That dress was something on her, even better than the "fancy" one at the gala. Sometimes, simple really was best. Putting his hands up to shield his eyes, he playfully acted like she was an angel not meant for the eyes of mortals. "You are gonna burn my eyes out, Liin. That beauty of yours is going to be the death of me!"

Putting his hands back down, he pushed himself off the bench and walked over to her with his signature cocky grin, offering the flowers to her. "Thanks for the invite. You picked a nice place. I used to jog around this park during the previous regime here. And these are for you." After she took them, he opened the cookie box for her, saying with a smile. "Hope you don't have a nut allergy because if you do, I'm gonna have to eat these all by myself." Not that he would complain, mind you.

I had to laugh at his reaction, all the while I was shaking my head. It was a silly reaction of course, but also sweet in it's own way.

He rose to his feet and offered me the flowers. "
Oh! Thank you. You did not have to, really." I took them with my free hand, while holding the basket with the other. All the while I quietly chided myself. Saul probably thinks that this is a date. But I do not believe it is. Yet for all appearances I suppose that it does look like one. Oh what have I gotten myself into?

At least we could go to a secluded space away from prying eyes.

"I do not have a nut allergy, no. But perhaps we could save them for later? Let us go to a part of the park that I frequent the most. Then we can get settled." I took the lead away from the path and into one of the little groves of trees. A little ways in was a small clearing about 50 feet in diameter, surrounded by trees and bushes. A small patch of grass was there too. I did not stop in the center of it, however. Instead I stopped at one of the sides and set down the basket in the shade. "Would you mind helping with the blanket?" I asked him as I put the flowers down next to the basket. I will have to figure out what to do with those later.

The Flowers were mostly just to put a smile on her face. Saul was keeping an open mind going into this, ready for disappointment if this meeting didn't go positively. Then again, it's not like she put "From your friend" in her letter, and from always those times she blushed over the night that met, at least one of them must have been he who had opened the door to her heart just a tad. "Well, I had to have something to match your outfit. Otherwise, we would have a fashion disaster on our hands." Glad that he picked the right cookies out, he smiled and nodded to Liin's suggestion and let her lead the way to her favorite part of the park, looking forward to seeing her let her hair down.

Giving a little whistle as they breached through the grove, Saul gave her his best bright shiny smile, saying. "I didn't know you were a land agent. This is quite the piece of territory here." He of course, aided in her request, pulling the blanket apart with her. Setting down, he let her put out what she wanted from the basket. If she got the full water pitcher out, he would fill however many cups she brought with water. He would then reach over and grab the flowers, putting them in the pitcher and pushing it in between them. At least she would have something pretty to stare at, even if it wasn't his face. "There, now we have water, and the flowers have some too."

He let the quiet breeze flow between them for a couple of minutes, enjoying the serene scenery before asking the question that he had been on his mind since he got her message. "So, why did you invite me here? Just to see me, or do you have some hidden agenda I don't know about?" It was him trying to clear the air and figure out what she wanted and where she wanted to go forward. Hopefully, it was someplace fantastic for both of them.

Dutifully he gave me a hand, which I appreciated. His remark on the flowers matching my dress was both sweet and funny at the same time. I cannot see the colors; but for all that I know, they could be similar.

And he took such great care with the flowers. That attention to detail from someone with a rough background shows a kind of strength to his character that would otherwise be hidden.

No sooner had I begun to set out the food for each of us that he put a voice to the question that has probably been plaguing his mind since I had sent him the message. I should of been prepared for it, but I was not. So when I responded; it was with what I could think of from the top of my head. "
A little bit of both, actually. You are a puzzle to me, as is our connection. And I hope that they are puzzles that can be solved." Afterall, I do love a good mystery. I wonder if Saul does too?

"
Have you ever had something happen to you lately that you cannot really explain? As if it was a new ability that you have yet to master?"

Saul smirked a little, taking the word connection to mean something other than how she meant the statement. Surely she must have meant their connection, right? "Well, we have all day for you to try to figure me and us out." With such a beautiful day, it's not like they had anything to trouble them.

When she asked, he had to think about the question for a bit. What was she trying to get at? "Other than our nose bleeding at that same time the other night, that's the only real thing that I couldn't explain... That and you blushing at my compliments. Only you can explain that for me." The only mericlous thing he had done was save that waiter from falling, but he chalked that up in his head as his natural agility. "What are you getting at? Do you think I'm some superhero?" The thought of him flying around the capital's skyscrapers with a cape flowing behind him, Liin swooning in his arms, wasn't an unappealing thought.

Saul is correct. We do have all day to figure this out. Although to solve such an intricate puzzle in one day is just not possible. One skill that I had learned in both science and politics; and that is patience.

The whole nosebleed thing could either of been a coincidence or a part of us both being a part of the same experiment. Of course I could be going about it all wrong as well. Afterall it could be much more simple than that.

"
A superhero? Perhaps not. And I do not mean any offence by that. I know for certain that I am something new. But it is not something that I plan on sharing with everyone. And I ask for you to keep it a secret as well."

I look to the flowers. Not the pitcher; but the flowers themselves. I focus on them and the static charge that begins to build around me. And as it grows I center it towards the flowers. The static charge builds, crackles and lightens the weight of the flowers themselves. They grow lighter than air and rise above the pitcher. The effect lasts only for seconds though before suddenly falling down. The static charge decreases and so does my energy levels.

My shoulders and head droop a little and as I speak; even my voice sounds tired. "
See?"

Saul raised an eyebrow as he watched the flowers slowly float into the air for the few seconds. It was almost like they were floating on air but the crackling sound coming out from nowhere made him think otherwise. This wasn't the force, not exactly. It was something else... Some type of manufactured affect maybe... Either way, showing it off to him meant alot for her and he appriated it. Making like he was zipping his lip with his fingers and nodding to a request, she would be sure that he would never tell a soul as long as she needed him too. He was the best he could do to earn her trust.

The Cyborg didn't ask any questions about her abilities. As much as he wanted to be an energetic school boy, Saul saw how much using whatever power she had drained her. He guessed it was something manufactured and put inside her but it wasn't like he had gone to medical school to learn the mumbo jumbo involved with artifitually making someone a force user. Either way, he was focused more on her right now than anything else. "Yes, I see. I also see your exausted just for that party trick alone. He would have to help her along if she was every going to recover.

Taking a small speaker out from his jacket pocket and putting some soft music on, Saul had the bright idea to pull her in, resting her head on his thighs. All he could hope is that his metal legs were alright pillows. If she fought or said no, he would of course let her go but this was the best way for her to recover as anything else. Besides, he liked looking down at her happy face and that was a good enough tipping factor for him to give the move a try. "There, feeling better?" The grin on Saul's face as he beamed down at her told Liin that he sure was.

The hope that the promise would be kept remained. For one reason or another; I had little doubt that he would keep to his word. So that at the very least provided some relief.

And however fatigued that I am from giving a small example of a newfound ability; the soft music caused the tiredness in me to grow. Most especially as he had me lay down and use his legs for a pillow. It was an odd position to be in. I had never used anyone as a pillow before. I have never even leaned on someone. Most of my physical contact is just during during the odd time when I am asked to dance. I have gotten used to being alone; and certainly am not used to anyone looking after me like this.

With half opened eyes, I responded to his question; "
Yes.....the music.....is too soothing..." Oh yes, I could nap right about now. But that would be against protocol. And I have never fallen asleep outside before.

Rubbing her back, Saul smiled at her as she slowly closed her eyes, humming softly as he lulled her to sleep. He was glad Liin trusted him enough to sleep with him nearby. The only problem was whether he could clean up the picnic without disturbing her.

As she finally started to sleep soundly, his hand slipped into her pocket, using his sleight-of-hand skills to find her phone. Taking a data stick from his pocket like it was an endless hole and stuck it in. The stick held one of his special programs that infected her phone, and after a minute, unlocked it for him. He didn't touch anything personal on her device, except for her apartment address and any digital keys to the security system, in case he needed to carry her home. Given how hard the young lady was snoring, he might have too.

After he decided she was down for the count, he gently put her phone back virusfree and slipped the stick back into his pocket before lifting her off his legs and set her head down in the grass before getting up. Packing up the setup of everything they both bought and stuffing it into his pockets or the basket, he slung it over his arm before picking up Liin in a princess carry. hoping they didn't come across any police officers who would ask why he had a sleeping young woman in his arms on the way there.

Despite some looks of curiosity and smirking towards them, they made it to her apartment building, and he was thankful when the elevator operator didn't ask any questions on the way up to her penthouse. Once they had got inside, he would lay her out in the bedroom, taking note of any decorations or pictures on the walls before slowly closing the door as he left the room. She clearly needed her sleep, and sitting in a chair next to her bedside to watch her sleep wouldn't help her do that. Still, he cared for her enough not to slip back out the door and made the couch in the living room his home, just in case any other side effect from the parlor trick reared its head. And while he wasn't nosy enough to look through her phone, seeing what her favorite movies and holoshows were was totally above board, right?

And as it turned out, I really did need to sleep. I did not even realize that I had done so until I woke up. Only where I was was a different place then where I had drifted off. I was in my room!

Was it all just a dream? Did I really have a picnic? One look to see my flower dress indicates a yes. But how did I get home? Did I black out on the way here? I check my nose for any signs of it bleeding, but found none.

I slipped out of bed and walked out of my room in a bid to try to retrace my steps. And that was when I saw him. Saul was on my couch. Asleep, perhaps? I cannot tell. At least not while I was far away, anyways.

Quietly I approached, speaking softly so as not to startle him if he was indeed sleeping. "
Saul? What happened? How did we get here? We were in the park, right?" Oh I do hope that I am not going crazy. I stop my approach at the chair next to the couch and slowly sat myself down. All the while I hoped that the answers that he'd give were not bad ones to hear.

The TV was on the sports channel at a low volume as she came out to Saul. Resting his eyes with his boots off after the walk back, he opened to watch her all a twitter, asking him how they got there. He smirked back at her in answer before pointing at her front door. "Number one, don't have your front door connected to your phone, or you might have more unwanted visitors. Number Two..." grasping her hand, he pulled it down to rest on his chest. "I'm very much real, and I carried you back home. Sorry, I figured you would like to rest at home rather than in the wet grass. That and I would rather have any unexpected side effects not happen in public, just like I think you would agree with." Giving her room to sit down on the couch, he hoped he hadn't crossed barriers he couldn't come back from.

Letting the awkwardness settle in between them once again, he eventually found his voice. "If you want me to go, I understand. Breaking and entering is an understandable deal breaker, but if you want me to stay, we could end the day with movie night." The face he put on would tell her the Cyborg wanted the answer to be yes, but he couldn't choose that for her. Liin would have to choose to let him into her life herself.

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

I cannot believe that I was out that much to npt even notice that I was being carried. I had barely used one of the new abilities that I had discovered; and yet it had knocked me out that much? At least I didn't try to lift myself or Saul. Otherwise I might of been in a coma for weeks.

"
How long was I asleep for?" I hoped that it was not for long. I removed my hand from his chest; glad at least that he was real. And at least the whole picnic was not imagined. I rose to my feet from the chair and took a few steps to the side so that I could get a better view of the barely used kitchen. The picnic basket sat there on the table. Good. Nothing was left behind. "And you are right in that I do not need people to see. That is why I chose the secluded spot."

My jaw tightened a little as he gave me a choice to make. And that is to either have him to stay or to go. I can see that he has already made room for me to sit next to him. Oh boy. What do I do? Decorum has already dictated what should be done. But do I follow that or follow my fear? Oh what a fine predicament to be in!

"I suppose that we could finish the picnic here. Did you want any wine? I could use a glass." I will need it to try to stifle down any nerves that may come up. Before he could answer I was already finishing my journey to the kitchen to get myself a glass of it. The kitchen stove and cooking dishes have never been used as I do not know how to cook. But hopefully he does not notice that.

Saul Whesai Saul Whesai

Saul glanced as the clock as Liin paced around the room. It had only been an hour since they had came here as the sun stood straight up in the sky. She was clearly friting over nothing, showing her background. She hadn't grow up like she had, she was probably apart of her family's plan for their overall legacy. Because she had her life already set out for her, she didn't hav e any reason to learn any skills she didn't need for her boardroom job. Needless to say, he would be giving her cooking lessons in the future if those clean dishes were any indication.

When she got up and walked to the counter to get the bottle of wine and a glass, he popped off his seat and joined her at the counter, leaning on it as he waited for her to pour him a glass. "So... What are we drinking tonight...?" It was an innocent question to get her mind off of things, not that he would anything about wine. None had ever even touched his lips before. Now that, she could probably give him an education on.

As she poured, he decided to take another leap, his hands rubbing the backs of her shoulder blades to try to make her comfortable, whispering "You are home, safe. Your powers didn't cause any problems and we are going to have a lovely evening together if its the last thing we do. Now lets sit down and enjoy each other's company." Leading her back toward's the couch with their arm's hooked together, he hoped his statment calmed her down some. The last thing he wanted was needing to her help through a mental breakdown.
