War
NEAR THE WASTE:
The massive freighters touched down and began disgorging the myriad materials. The rushing winds of the the nearby waste met with the roaring push from the ships landing engines as the set down. The clashing air kicked up swirling dust devils and clouds of sand as He stood watching. The slow rise of their sun over the horizon cast the dust in it's glow and caused the dust and sand to look almost like a curtain of gold as the light reflected of the cold abyssal black of His old T-shaped visor. He hadn't asked anyone to meet him. He hadn't demanded assistance from The Vode. He simply knew that something new needed to be done and it needed someone to do it.
The MandalTech ships and crews began work immediately. They had their orders. They had the specifications. There was little need for him to do more than make sure it was done. His clan, diminished as it was, would provide security for the endeavor but he expected little resistance. He barely expected notice. He was tired of seeing his people's looks of despair at their home being ravaged again, and again, and again. A planetary shield wasn't much in this galaxy but it was more than they had. It was a start. How they had waged war for so long and not been better at keeping outsiders off their own homeland was beyond him. Gil had done it better. Gil had given them the best start anyone could have...and they had pissed it away. He had pissed it away. But this was something that He could do. Maybe when Manda'yaim was protected they could focus on being who they were meant to be, Warriors.
