OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

Intent: Breeding Chamber for Hive Organisms.
Canon Link: Cloning | Shaping Protocol
Primary Source: The Long Conflict (Concept Design)

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: The Hive Mind
Affiliation: Closed Market | SwarmSurge
Model: Hive Breeding Chamber
Modularity: Size, Shape and Material.
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Biological

SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

+Self Healing. Superficial damage takes a few days. More serious damage takes anything up to two weeks.
+Can be created anywhere, from the biomatter of many different Organisms.
+Can be located underground, and made small or large in size depending on what it is breeding.
+Large Organisms take 3 Days Per Chamber. Regular humanoid sized take 1 Day, and Small can be made in batches of up to a dozen per day.

Weaknesses:

-It cannot make just any species, the Hive needs to have learned the species well enough to recreate it. It needs a lot of DNA and trial and error to do this effectively.
-It requires biomatter to make species. At least as much as what it's creating.
-It has no defenses of its own.
-It requires the Hive infect an area, then seed it, then Hive it before these even start to be constructed.

DESCRIPTION
A large orange or red chamber situated anywhere it can be hidden. The air is usually drier around hive structures and that is just as true here. Large or small, it is usually oval but can take on other circular shapes for different species. Often you'll find clusters of these together. In many cases it'll be no bigger than a box, breeding several smaller creatures at once. Others it will be as big as a small house, breeding a giant for the Hive.

[member="Raien Keth"] spent many long years working on biotechnology. First with the sunguard, then the midnight guard and then any creations he could get his hand on, progressing finally to biological droids as all his previous creations had failed him in someway. In the final days of the One Sith and that of his life, when vong shaping or biotech was more common, he took inspiration to build The Long Conflict. The first of several biohives, which he then spread to worlds he had holdings or interest in. Byss, Prakith, Korriban and other darkside nexus's were primary choices, but also worlds like Kashyyyk and Thrysus that he and his acolytes had long histories with, among others.

On his death, and eventual disappearance at the hands of [member="Taeli Raaf"], the remaining acolytes fueded over his legacy for many years. Some fell to the lightside, some died and others were set on a particular course. [member="Kylraya"] was one of them. When the GA liberated much of OS space, they did much to undo what he'd done, but they didn't know everything, every hidden location that he'd been in, and every experiment that he'd done. He'd had a long life. When the GA released its control over certain worlds, fading into history, the remaining fragmented one sith forces reactivated their new Master's plans. Directive 15. Use what you have [member="Darth Centax"].

One of these things were the Biodroid hives, and what they were also adapted to create Surge Drones. It was on Prakith that their greed and folly was their undoing because these drones escaped their captors. That was when the facilities were remade, to serve the SwarmSurge.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

Intent: Hive Neural Node Transmitter.
Canon Link: Delta Source | Villip
Primary Source: None

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: The Hive Mind
Affiliation: Closed Market | SwarmSurge
Model: Convergence Node
Modularity: Size, Shape and Materials
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Biological | Usual optional Components: Kae Vine | D13-Fulcrum-M Supports | Hive Armors such as Terminus Armor or Others.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:

+Comes in a Variety of Sizes, Shapes, and Locations. Space, Ground, Underwater, Underground, and the Sides of Creatures for example.
+Essential and a Real Pain. Of all the Hive structures that will ever exist, this is probably the most essential and also hardest to physically remove, they regrow if even a small bit is left. A node the size of a palm has enough to regrow the Hive Node to a larger size or move along a Kae Vine to regrow elsewhere.
+They are often supported by D13-Fulcrum-M physically for stability at larger sizes, nutritionally by the Kae Vine, and armored by Terminus Armor or better.
+Hyper-Sonic bursts at very fast speeds or Vong inspired Telepathic Communication are both used.

Weaknesses:

-They stand out when spotted, making prime targets to damage hive connections.
-No defenses of their own.
-Their Size Limits their range.
-They take time to regrow. Leaving the Hive Vulnerable if all the nodes and intelligent convergences are taken out.
-The sonic signals can leave clues as to the direction of other Hives, just not the exact location. Alternative if the Telepathic communication is used, people who can read minds might get a headache and some idea of what is being shared.

DESCRIPTION

Orange, Red, or Black. The Hive Convergence Node is the main way, other than intelligent convergence creatures, that the Hive keeps in contact with its many creatures and members. It does not store information, its primary use is to send and receive signals. As it is highly specialized in this role it is also very good at its job. The sonic signals it sends are not something you can pick up on a radio, but you could try to tune into it with other devices suitable for monitoring animals. Even so, it'd be erratic and hard to understand, like trying to break a complicated code for the first time. Then you have the code, but as these are animals via an alien collective will, it may not even be certain that the code or communication means what you think it means. Alternatively, the telepathic signals it sends are harder to physically track but a force user might pick on what they mean easier. So it gives different challenges depending on what is being sent, and different opportunities to those that come across a node, though they'd probably do better the closer they were to it.

Ranges and Equivalent Sizes. The shapes they form can and do vary depending on what room is available.
  • Tiny, Palm Sized: A Cave. 1 Day to Grow or Regrow
  • Very Small, Large Flower Sized: A Cave Network or Forest. 2 Days to Grow or Regrow
  • Small, Bush-Sized: A City, a valley or mountain range. 4 Days to Grow or Regrow
  • Normal, Modest Tree-SIze: A Small Country or Large Region. 8 Days to Grow or Regrow
  • Large, Five Trees Together: A Continent or to a Nearby Moon, Asteroid or Ship. 15 Days to Grow or Regrow
  • Huge, A Giant Tree, a Small Forest, A Large Dome: Other Planets in the System, Other Nearby Systems. 30 Days to Grow or Regrow

They generally consume minerals and other biological matter for growth or sustain themselves, either fed to it directly by hive vines and networked bio-connections or just as often small creatures dedicated to gathering food for the hive structures.
