  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Mariah of House Marr Mariah of House Marr , (can be bought from various sellers she gave the rights to, and probably some she didn't)
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Model: Swarm Drones
  • Modularity: Can change what device the drones are connected to upon activation, can be different colors.
  • Production: Mass-Produced.
  • Material: Plastoid, droid parts.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Fourth Degree
  • Weight: Light

  • Movement: Repulsorlift, small thrusters as backup or for space operation.
  • Armaments: Two repeating laser cannons
  • Misc. Equipment: Photo-receptors, thermal sensors, basic shields.
  • Resistances (Optional):
    • Energy (And other Blaster type weapons): Average
    • Kinetic: Average
    • Lightsabers: Low
    • ION/EMP: Average
    • Elemental: Average
    • Sonic: Low
    • Hacking: Very high
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Hacking defenses: The SD’s must be connected during activation to a device that has high enough processing power to run the encryptions that are unique to each SD not just the model itself. They have strong transceivers allowing them to reach good range as well as being harder to intercept or confuse. This means a person has to rely on manual hacking, or find a way to get access to whatever device is being used.
STRENGTHS
  • Basic Drone intelligence requires primary guidance.
  • Easily produced
  • Very mobile
  • Easy to put in cargo
  • Easy to use in groups.
  • Fairly quiet movement
  • Can be used in space
WEAKNESSES
  • Average or weak defenses to most weapons. Given their smaller size they aren’t incredibly hard to destroy when actually hit. Light blaster pistols could take them down in a few hits. Blaster rifles might take them down in one or two.
  • Do not possess droid level intelligence. Swarm drones possess very little thinking capacity of their own, most of their on board processing power is put into aiming, moving, and obeying directions. They can perform basic tasks such as probing, guarding, and can be set to recognize friend from foe. But more complex actions must be done from whatever device they are connected to.
  • Repulsorlifts require gravity to function, the small thrusters are much slower but can be used without gravity.
  • Require operator for full functionality.
DESCRIPTION
The SD’s are meant to be used en masse. They are cheap to produce but operate fairly efficiently, and are good for use as guards or distractions. Because of their low level intelligence, the SD’s should have an operator and not be sent alone. This does put them at a disadvantage from some other models designed to be cheap guards. Where the Swarm drones have advantages over those models is generally mobility, due to their small size and repulsorlifts they are fairly quiet and can move in ways that most land based drones can’t, this allows them to essentially stack over each other, rather then only side by side. Meaning there could be an entire wall of drones firing on a target all at once. Or to be used to traverse difficult terrain such as mountains, forests, or buildings, as they can simply rise or lower at will. Additionally, they are designed to be very hard to hack, each drone has their own encryption meaning even if by some incredible ability someone hacks the signal of one, the others remain under the operators control.

The only question that arises is production. The SD’s were invented by Mariah, however she sold the designs for a small profit portion to various distributors, allowing her to use them, but maintain a small profit off of others being able to use them as well. Though, she likely gets even less than agreed due to the nature of some of her buyers. The rights to her designs may be sold by her, though her distributors can continue producing them.
