- Force Dampening: As a Force Sensitive, Svidur's abilities are greatly reduced when in the presence of a ysalamir, an electronic Force-dampening device, or Force dead zones.
APPEARANCE:
Svidur is a tall, red-haired Valkyri, good-looking and well-built. His whole body is covered in runic tattoos, and his normal blue eyes often glow a bright blue when he makes use of his Force powers. Unusually for a Mandalorian, he does not often wear armor, preferring robes and cloaks instead, though he does don sleeves of micronized beskar at times. He bears no weapons, instead carrying a long staff carved with countless Valkyri runes of various meanings. Mirdir and Tome'tayl, two ravens that serve as Svidur's Force familiars, are often seen in close proximity to him, occasionally perching on his shoulders.
BIOGRAPHY:
Svidur Galaar is a member of the Mandalorian Clan Galaar and a Force-Sensitive, a rarity among the Valkyri people. Born among the Snjóhaukur Clan on the Valkyri homeworld Midvinter, Svidur's latent Force abilities would remain unknown, with many chalking up his wisdom to a blessing from the goddess Runa. Because of this, he became quickly revered among the clan and became Jarl Skjor's trusted lorekeeper and spiritual advisor, divining the will of the gods and their ancestors. He was not with Skjor when the Jarl met the Mandalorians in a meadhall, but advised him when he returned to the Snjóhaukur Clan to discuss the events. He insisted that, if they were to join the men from the stars, that they must do it on their own terms. They must continue to show their faith to Odiir and the Children of the Allfather, and if they turned their back on their faith they would be irreversibly cursed with disaster and misfortune.
Skjor readily accepted Svidur's advice, and to this day even though they have become Mandalorians, Clan Galaar still give tribute to their old gods readily and often. It was only after the clan settled down on Krownest that Svidur's Force-Sensitivity was discovered, and upon learning of the nature of his abilities he devoted much time to learning to properly harness them, for the benefit of the clan and the Mandalorian people. Since then he has refined and strengthened his connection to the Force, to the point he has difficulty suppressing it. Following the clan's joining with the Mandalorians, Svidur continues to advise the clan spiritually, as well as keeping chronicles of the clan's ongoing history and achievements. When the clan joined the Mandalorian Enclave, he nominally joined the shamans of the Mandokarla, though he made it clear he had no intention of forsaking the Children of the Allfather.
