  • [SIZE=9pt]Ultrachrome:[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt] The surface of the Svalinn is covered by a layer of Ultrachrome in order to take advantage of its superconductive characteristic to reflect attacks and help defend against energy attacks.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Phrik: The body of the shield is made up of Phrik, the incredibly strong metal providing it a level of protection and toughness that fulfils its primary purpose of protecting the user.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Microrepulsors: [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]The surface of the shield is studded with microrepulsors for two reasons. Primarily [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]the microrepulsors act to alter the weight of the shield. Due to the gravitational field generated by the repulsors the shield can be made lighter or heavier as the situation requires, allowing it to the wielded as if it were a lighter shield when movement and agility are[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt] needed and as a heavy shield when it needs to absorb the impact of an attack. When in heavy shield mode the microrepulsors generate a field similar to the Repulsehand’s which provides a level of protection by slowing any attacks coming in at the shield. This makes it easier for Asaraa to tank powerful attacks without being thrown back as the attack would hit with less force. The Heavy repulsion field also has the benefit of making a shield bash with the Svalinn more painful in a similar manner to the Repulsehand. The Microrepulsor’s can be overloaded to create a repulsion wave, pushing back whoever or whatever is engaged with the shield or is nearby to it. Doing so disables the microrepulsors until they can come back on line. (OOC: 2 posts)[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Internal Blaster: [/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]Running the entire length of the shield is a blaster barrel surrounded by electromagnetic rails. Operating on a similar concept to the Sunshot pistol the blaster shot is accelerated by the railgun exiting the barrel at the tip of the shield with an increased speed and hitting power. [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Physical Resistance: The highly resistant metal Phrik which makes up the main body of the shield provides it with its powerful physical defences, and a good level of energy defence. [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Energy Resistance: The layer of ultrachrome which covers the surface of the shield provides it with a strong level of energy defence. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Weaknesses[/SIZE][SIZE=9pt]:[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]EMP/Ion: Much of the Svalinn capabilities come from the advanced technical systems built into the shield, and those technical systems are vulnerable to EMP or Ion based attacks, similarly to most electronic systems leaving the shield as a hunk of metal, useful for its protections but without the advanced capabilities until the systems can be brought back online.   • [SIZE=9pt]Only defends from one direction: Unlike an energy shield the Svalinn can only defend its user from one direction at a time, allowing an opponent to attack from multiple directions and overwhelm the user. [/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Limited Number of shots: The Blaster Cannon built into the shield, while powerful, only has a limited number of shots. Once its charge is used up the Blaster can not be used again until it has been recharged, not something that can be done easily in the middle of battle (OOC: The blaster is limited to 15 shots per normal pvp thread)[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Low rate of fire: Due to the need to charge the railguns in the cannon before it can be fired again the blaster cannon has a low rate of fire, and can not be used repeatedly in combat. (OOC: Limit of one shot per post)[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Telegraphed shot: To use the blaster cannon the entire shield needs to be lined up to take a shot. This leaves the user vulnerable to attacks they could have otherwise blocked.[/SIZE]

  • [SIZE=9pt]Switching fields: Although the Repulsorfield can switch from a light shield to heavy shield modes it takes time to make these transfers, and they can not be done back to back meaning the choice of a field is a tactical decision to be made.   • [SIZE=9pt]Ultrachrome: Unlike Phrik Ultrachrome isn’t a natively tough metal but instead uses it’s super conductivity to dissipate energy from attacks across its entire surface. This means that a sustained or sufficiently powerful attack can burn right through the ultrachrome, destroying the entire covering layer, much reducing the shield attack and leaving the micro-repulsors vulnerable to attack[/SIZE]

[SIZE=9pt]In a galaxy of constant conflict, sometimes the capability of a defence can often be overlooked in favour of ever increasing offense. Yet both sides work best as a combined motion, attack and defence working together into a seamless whole. After constructing a weapon for Asaraa Vaashe, Locke and Key Mechanics looked into developing the other half of the equation, a way for the Jedi to protect herself. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=9pt]Like most defenses, they settled on a shield, and then went about making it as capable as they could. The basic shield was crafted from Phrik, using the material’s incredible toughness to act as the backbone for the shield. The surface of the phrik was studded with a series of Microrepulsors, before the whole surface was covered with a layer of Ultrachrome to increase the energy resistance of the shield. The inside surface of the shield contains several mag clamps which can be used to secure the shield, or to secure additional weapons and gear to the shield to be used when needed. The shield’s controls can be found on the handhold at the lower end of the shield. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=9pt]The use of the micro repulsors is the key to the working of the entire shield, allowing the Svalinn to switch between a heavy and light shield, with the movement, protections and damage associated with each. The micro repulsors also help to stabilize the shield when firing the heavy charged blaster embedded in it. All in all the Scalinn mixes offense and defense in a solid package designed to augment and protect it’s user. [/SIZE]
 
A Well thought out submission. I very much enjoyed reading it.

My only worry is that it is just a bit too jampacked for the rating it hosts. I understand Phrik is a lightweight metal but considering all of the tie-ins to this shield ill need the weight rating raised to High, please.
