This is the second lightsaber to be constructed by Arrius Messala, the first having been a primitive apprentice's first attempt. It is designed with a curved hilt to make it easier to grip, and contains a Lignan crystal, which causes the blade to last longer and burn hotter. Such a blade can cut through objects at a much faster rate than your typical lightsaber.
On the other hand, it suffers from the usual drawbacks of a lightsaber, but it is also larger and heavier than usual, which can affect the balance of the wielder (someone who is not very physically strong might even have a hard time swinging it at all). In addition, the Lignan crystal's natural Dark Side inclination have rendered the weapon inoperable to Jedi and all those who possess a Light Side aura.
