Surprise Encounter

Malik

Guest
Malik grunted as her foot collided with his gut "Not bad, not bad at all." Malik smiled and got up, as he did he swung his dagger at full force towards [member="Niyla Ar'i"] "But we're only getting started!"

Niyla wasn't very strong, it was one of her weaknesses. She knew going into the attack she would not be fast enough to dodge his next swing at her without physical force. Pulling both of her rapiers up she parried his dagger attack, running the swords up the dagger and finding her way behind him.

Malik laughed, he hadn't had so much fun in a fight in years! He tightened his rapier as he sidestepped, getting in position for one of his more....creative strikes.

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

Niyla slid into her fighting stance stance, wiping sweat from her brow and breathing heavily. He hits hard... She thought. Rubbing her arm. The girl noticed he was taking extra time for this next strike, accordingly she attempted to strike him before he got the chance. She got a running start and leaped over him, flipping around the man, when she got in position she sliced one rapier at his arm holding the dagger and left the other open for his next attack.

Malik smiled and moved hand directly towards the incoming rapier. He was shook slightly as the blade clanged against his gauntlet "Durasteel my dear friend." Malik then got his rapier and thrusted it at the girl, he mask showed no stress but under the mask he was sweating greatly. I don't know how much longer I can block these attacks Malik thought.

Niyla could sense his tiring. She still had plenty of energy, yet she was weaker than him. Another heavy hit from that dagger would lose her the match. She assumed if she could get in a bunch of little attacks she could wear him out and get him on the ground. Here goes nothing. She thought and nervously chuckled. Sliding her feet across the cold floor she found her way to his left side, where he only had one hand to block, she then ran towards his, using her right hand to send a flurry of thrusts at him, and her left hand behind her back, intended to swoop his feet if the thrusts got through.

Malik couldn't handle it. He was able to block the first few attacks but was quickly overwhelmed. The bounty hunters he had faced in the past mostly relied on brute force so someone with such speed caught Malik off guard. As he fell to the ground he smiled "Well played, well played indeed."

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

Niyla smiled, probably feeling too good about her skills than she should. When he fell all of the people watching raised their glass and 'hoorah!' ed.

She came here often, the people loved watching her fight. However, over the year she has been dueling in this Dojo, she had never come so close to losing. He was definitely a force to be reckoned with. And this duel was a test of swordplay, what he could do with the rest of the arsenal she saw on the shuttle is certainly admirable, and ally material. Plus she liked him, perhaps they would become friends.

Niyla offered him a hand. "Please." She said sarcasticly, expressing a sly smile. As she helped him up Niy pulled her hair down and shook it out. "You are a skilled warrior Malik. Don't take it personally, that fight coud have gone either way." She said this hoping he was not feeling down on himslef. "Will you sit with me?" Niyla asked, motioning to an open booth across the Dojo.

Malik was silent for a moment before he bursted out laughing "Of course I'd sit with you!" Malik took her hand and noticed the canister on his arm was dented "Oh boy, the fuel tank is dented." He sighed and unhooked it, the weapons dealer warned him to not wear both the canister and the flamethrower on his wrist but he didn't listen, it was safer on his wrist anyway. "I'll deal with that later, you were amazing! In all my years I haven't actually had someone beat me in swordplay. Then again even most of the bounty hunters don't try to come near me." Malik couldn't help but chuckle.

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

Niylas cheeks flushed a hot red. "Thank you." She said and smiled, running her fingers through her long hair. "You flatter me!"

The girl then motioned he follow as she walked to the booth. When they were both settled in she flagged the bartender to their seats. "I will have a Aldaranni Wine." She said kindly, her cheeks fading back to their normal pink shade. "And you Malik?" She asked, fixing her scarlet eyes onto him.

"Hmm, I need something strong. You know what, I'll have some whiskey." Malik noticed [member="Niyla Ar'i"] 's eyes on him and quickly looked away, staring at his dented canister. Even though he was a masked mystery he still felt the same emotions any living being did.

Niyla looked around the 'Dojo'. In the left corner there was a group of Rodians that were laughing and yelling rather loudly, perhaps they had too many drinks. Or maybe they were just looking for trouble. In the other corner was a small collection of gambling sets and other games of the sort. Near the center were three arenas like the one she and [member="Malik"] had sparred in.

Turning her attention back to the masked man she smiled and observed him as she sipped at her wine, soaking her lips red. He was different than others like him. He was kind and collected, plus he really knew how to handle a sword.

Light jazz played in the background, and the strong scent of alcohol filled the air. As he looked at his dented arm and couldn't help but feel bad. "You okay?" She asked, raising her eyebrows slightly to show she cared.

"I'm fine, I've been through worse." Malik slightly lifted up his mask, the opening covered in the mask's shadow as he took a sip of his whiskey. "I've been meaning to ask, what was that opportunity you were talking about? I really am interested."

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

As he opened his mask the curiosity of what was underneath hit her, she wouldn't ask him though. Not unless he inquired about it. "I totally forgot!" She said excitedly, reaching down to her belt and grabbing a small sack. "It's not much, but I wanted to know if you would help me... build a ship?" Niyla looked down and smiled as if she was remembering her past. "You seem like a guy who knows how to salvage for parts."

Malik simply shook his head "I won't do it for money." Malik paused for a moment, taking another sip of whisker "Besides, I planned to raid another one of Retu's cargo shipments. Didn't I mention him? Don't worry doing the wrong thing if you decide to come along, Retu is a crime lord, slaver trader, the worst of the worst. If you don't want to come along....just set up time and date and I can bring the parts to you. I don't know much about building ships but I know it will take a while to get all the parts."

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

Niyla didn't even need a reason to come along, she has been waiting for an adventure like this for some time. "Sounds like fun." She said, gripping her rapier and smiling. She drank the last of her wine and stood up, making sure to pull her skirt down. "So [member="Malik"], mind if we run by my place first?" She asked placing a few credits on the table and putting her coat on.

"Not at all!" Malik smiled a genuine smile under his mask as he drank the last shot whiskey. "What do you need there anyway?"

[member="Niyla Ar'i"]

Niyla waved bye to the owner as they exited the Dujhara Dojo, she had forgot it was still day, the bright light nearly blinding her as she pulled the door open. "You're lucky you have that mask!" She said and looked at [member="Malik"] who was walking beside her. She then went to answer his question. "Lets see, I need to get my bowcaster, a few spare changes of clothes, and some credits." Niyla counted these things off on her finger and tried to remember them, like many people she was notorious for forgetting things. "My house is just up this way, across the impasse, and in a small settlement. It shouldn't take us to long too get there."
