  • Links: N/a.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 3 years old
  • Species: Hook Hawks
  • Height: Approximately 49cm.
  • Length: Wingspan: 112cm
  • Weight: 1.2kg
  • Appearance: Sura and Elum are two female Hook-hawks from Tython's Stark Forests. Unlike their brethren, the hawks possess an entirely white plumage due to the condition known as albinism. The tips of Sura's wing feathers have been tainted a dark pink while Elum's have been given a deep orange, in order to be easily identified by their owner while in flight.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Sura and Elum
  • Loyalties: Cyern Aarseth
  • Notable Possessions: N/A
  • Personality: Sura and Elum have adopted from their Master a mostly calm nature. Perceptive and intelligent, the birds are often found in a perpetual state of watch following their natural instinct to act as sentries both for hunting and protection purposes. They can display an uneasy and anxious behavior if kept away from each other or their Master for long periods of time and tend to be easily altered if not given enough space to move freely. As is expected of their species, they are highly intelligent birds and have often been described as cunning and unpredictable.
  • Training:
Hunting: the hawks will hunt on command for their Master and then either bring or direct him towards the site of the kill.
  • Scouting: They will fly over areas and alert their Master of anything suspicious or of note: other sentients, predators, buildings or sources of water.
  • Sentries: They will stand guard over places or people.
  • Fight: Though not designed for combat, they will defend their Master to the best of their ability. Most probably by attacking the offender's face with their sharp talons.

[*]Combat Function: Sura and Elum will either stay and try to aid their Master in any way they can or be given the order to flee to safety or seek for help. They are not meant for direct confrontation against other sentients or true battle-oriented companions.
  • Swift Wings: The hawks have an amazing flight speed and can cover large areas of land in a relatively short amount of time.
  • Eyesight and hearing: Their sharp sense of sight and hearing puts them at an advantage for both hunting, alerting and avoiding other predators.
  • Sweet Songs: Hook-hawks are known for their beautiful singing, soothing to the point of hypnosis. They will often sing for their preys until they are stunned and then attack, before the victim is given enough time to react.
  • Sharp Talons: Armed with long, sharp talons and a dangerously curved beak, they have the necessary tools to defend themselves.
  • Soft Skin: Their plumage does not offer any defense from attacks and can be easily cut through.
  • Meager size: Their bones are thin and light, easy to damage. Also, they do not have a size significant enough to damage larger opponents if not able to reach the weaker areas, such as the eyes.
  • Smell: They sacrifice their sense of smell for their eyesight and hearing.
  • Sensitive ears: Given the sensitivity of their ears, a sonic blast can severely damage the birds.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Hook hawks have always been a potential threat for wanderers in the Stark Forest. The birds had the custom of hunting in large flocks, singing their victims to sleep before mauling their bodies to death. Night was closing in on the day when Cyern was out, hunting for food to bring home being his purpose. He knew that he was nearing a nesting site and that he should be careful and watch out for the presence of the cunning birds.
However, there was no sign of the creatures nor was he able to feel them through the Force. Feeling uneasy about such a discovery, the man approached the nesting site to find it completely abandoned, the corpses of some of the Hook hawks littering the ground. Assuming they had been ambushed by some other predator, he was about to continue on with his task when the noises of a pair of hatchlings got his attention. Alone in a nest, two new born hawks of white plumage called for a Mother that would never return. Feeling it was the right thing to do, he took both eyass and cared for them, training them. Sura and Elum identified Cyern as their mother and the head of their flock, following him faithfully ever since.
