Sullust Lunch [Karen Roberts]

[member="Karen Roberts"]

Well, this had been an interesting day.

Twice, he'd been contacted for potential meetings in Sullust. One... Well, he'd have to consider later. The other, was from Karen Roberts, a Jedi he knew from the old Order, as well as having met on several occasions. He'd even once met a relative of hers on a blind date, who was rather cute. Nice lady, that. He'd have to call her back sometime when he wasn't risking his neck to raid slave camps and the like.

As it was a casual lunch, he arrived to the place in casual, off-duty attire. For once, Josh didn't look like a Jedi, the only thing indicating it being the lightsaber clipped to his belt. Instead of his robes, Josh wore a blue t-shirt, with the lightsaber-clipped belt and an un-zipped black leather jacket over it. He wore casual black pants, and his usual black combat boots that he wore both in diplomacy as well as in battle - the only remnant besides his belt and lightsaber of Josh's usual Jedi attire. He was curious about what Karen had been up to as of late, he had to admit as he peered around for her. Last time they had met, she'd been hired for... Mercenary affairs. A rather strange thing for a Jedi...

Karen pushed in the door with a twist of her hair. Ahh. Finally. She'd just been able to escape the boring affairs of the GA Starport customs agency. Bleh. She been on-world for only six hours now and boy? Was she ready for a bite to eat.

"Ha! [member="Joshua DragonsFlame"] . As I live and breath. How are you mate'y?"

She approached him with a hug and a smile. Dressed all in slimming black clothes from head to toe except for a blue shearling fur jacket which ended just below her waist. She looked ever bit the diva she was. Ooo? Except that now her hair was it's natural brown color. She'd nixed the blue dyes in favor something less... Mmm? Less ridiculous, maybe? Hehe.

"Wow. Funny to see you on Sullust too? I'm glad you could make it. ...Crazy times, I tell ya. Crazy times."

She disengaged from her wild hug and motioned to a chair. Ugh, and how. She was crazy hungry. Brrr.

And thus, the belle of the ball had arrived.

He would watch as she made her way over. He would give her the once-over, and flash a playful wink to indicate approval at the outfit choice, plus just being the usual flirt that he was. He would flash her a cheeky grin before listening as she spoke.

"[member="Karen Roberts"], it's been quite some time, hasn't it?" He would remark with a light chuckle.

"I've been good. Just been continuing my work on the Outer Rim, as per usual. Liberating slave camps, and getting slaves home once liberated and free of their collars" He would explain. "You'll have to come with me sometime, perhaps. It'd be a good time" He'd half-joke as he would return the hug, rather surprised that she'd hug him to begin with when he didn't usually get that sort of behavior from other Jedi, but it was welcome regardless. With that, once she motioned to their seats, he'd stretch before taking a seat.

"Yeah, I had some business here, so it lined up. Things have been crazy. I hear the Alliance is planning to try and retake Coruscant from the Sith" He would begin, casually looking over the menu, clearly as hungry as she was. "Been considering joining in the assault. I'm not a fan of the militaristic style that they and their Jedi have, but... This is the Sith we're talking about. While I'd hate to become the same sort of monsters as they are, I do know that if we play our cards right and work together, we can at least drive them out of Coruscant."

Wow, he never thought he'd say he was agreeing with or wanting to be working with any of the current factions in this day and age.

"But galactic politics and work aside... What have you been up to, darling?" He would inquire curiously as he looked her in the eyes. "More mercenary jobs?" He added, shooting her another grin.

She brushed her hair aside and took a seat. Grabbing a lunch menu and browsing as they chatted,

"Good for you. Liberating slaves sound very... Mmm. Heroic, maybe? Self-sacrificing? No no... Jedi'ish. Yes. Hehe. How bold of you. But as for myself? Oh no. I'll have to pass on that invitation. Hehe. I'm getting too old for all that flashy stuff and Grant would just about kill me if I partnered up again for another damned crusade into the galaxy at large. Bah. Husbands these days? Am I right? Hehe."

She smiled and perused the menu. Then he asked her about mercenary work. Oh... Right? It had been awhile since they'd chatted, hadn't it.

"Oh heavens Josh. It's been years since I got out of the mercenary game. Mmhmm. Yeah, and I finally gave my company over to Ram and let him and Mike Dahl handle the Rangers from now on. Left that bird scott free too. They took the ball and ran with it. Clever fellows those. Hehe. Oh no. No no no... I've been out of the pewpew for quite some time now. Probably, two years now? Yes. No. Maybe? Hehe. ...Bah. Well anyway. I've been enjoying it too. Like I said... Hehe. No more crusades for this old broad. I'm over the whole, 'kill as many Sith as possible' to save the world, type stuff. Bleh. Good riddance too. ...It's so dirty. Hehe."

Roberts leaned over and ordered something from the serving droid who rolled on past. Then continued her story,

"Truth be told Master Dragonsflame. Grant and I have quit the religion. All together. Yep. Together we came to realize that being quote-un-quote 'Good Jedi' was exactly what was causing all of the problems in our lives. And in our marriage too. ...Ugh. Hard to hear, I know. But seriously Josh. It's been so much better since I gave it all up. Finally got a real life away from those other 'Jedi mooks' out there. Mantic, Corvus, Heavenshield's vikings, and all the other crazy zealots out there like em. Ahhh. Yeah. It's been so good to finally tell it how it is. ...The Jedi, suck. Hehe."

She leaned back to absorb the look on his face. So good to finally say it out loud.

Of course. Josh wasn't like many of the newcomers to the game. He'd seen Jedi do stupid things before. Watched them segregate and wall themselves off. But deep down Karen still believed that Josh had some faith left in them as a whole. Why? Bah. She sure as heck didn't know. But still? There it was. There, she was. Sitting on Sullust, the hub of the New Jedi Order that was about to pierce Coruscant. Telling a former Grandmaster of her old books that she had lost all faith in her religion for the last time. ...And! That she was happy about it. Hell. That it had fixed her whole life. Haha. How nuts is that?

Bah.

Ol' Blue must have been high or crazy.

The Jedi Master would only smile in turn. "Well, I don't really look at it as any of those things. You know as well as I do how divided the Jedi are in their philosophies. Some like the pacifist method, others want to focus on helping people and protecting people. Others want to be militaristic and crush their enemies with Jedi military might, generally for a political agenda. Others... Just want to kill whoever gets in their way. But in the end, Jedi are peacekeepers. Protectors. What job can a Jedi do that's impartial, and is always guaranteed to be doing their job without political agendas or biases, or issues with philosophy? Slave liberation. We're protecting, saving people who were kidnapped from their homes, separated from their families, abused, and were primed to be sold off like property by some of the biggest scum in the galaxy. Wipe out the scum... Free the slaves and get them home. Can't put a political stamp on that, it's cut and dry, it's just the Jedi doing their job, no matter what group they belong to. So that's why I do it" He explained, seeming a bit passionate about the subject. It was clear that being able to do his job as a Jedi meant a lot to him.

It really was his life, you know.

"And being able to give people hope, when they've just about given up on it... Seeing the smiles on their faces? That makes me happy. Knowing that I'm able to do my job as a Jedi, and contribute, to protect this galaxy and those who reside in it... That makes me happier then one could ever know..." He spoke softly, his eyes almost glowing with how much he seemed to enjoy it, and the rush he got from it all. "That's all I ever wanted. To know for sure, with no complications or doubts, that I was doing the right thing as a Jedi."

He would listen as she explained what she had been up to. Though he would raise a brow when she mentioned "years" having passed since her mercenary days. If he recalled, it had only been a handful of months, maybe half a year or a little more then that, since their last meeting had involved her dealings with mercenaries. He figured she probably needed her head examined, but she seemed to be enjoying herself, so he didn't say anything.

Though it was interesting when she mentioned she'd given up Jedi-hood completely. But... Considering the whole mercenary thing, it wasn't exactly a shock to him. He'd probably have been more surprised if she was still a Jedi after all that. Though her being married piqued his interest, and he laughed a little. "Well, consider this a memento of us meeting again after so long, instead of anything jokingly flirtatious as you've known me for being" He cracked as he would unfurl his sleeve to unveil a rose hidden under it, which he would hand to her with a cheeky grin. "Congratulations on finding your happy life with your husband and being able to shed the stresses from your life, though. Sure, it's a shame that the Jedi don't have someone like you anymore, but... With all the internal stuff, all the conflict... I can't say I blame you" He admitted, and let out a sigh soon after.

"... I can't leave it, myself. Sometimes, I want to. But I've been a Jedi since I was a child. If I leave it behind... What do I do? I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I'd go crazy, and I'd be back on the field of battle before long. I never really considered a life for myself outside of being a Jedi, you know? Sure, the rose tinted goggles are off and all... But I still have hope that one day, it'll all be sorted out. Loyalty is blind, just as love is. But that loyalty and love is all I have left in this life. Without it... Well, there's not much left to me."

With that, he would shrug his shoulders. "But no need to drag things down, aye? I haven't seen your pretty face in ages" Josh would crack. Another grin followed. Cheeky, amused, and just all around cheerful.

"Did you figure out what you were ordering, Kare?"

Ooh, a nickname. She must be special.

Blue's eyes lit up at the advent of a rose. Oh oh! What a charmer? She smiled. And not a completely inappropriate token outside of Empress Teta either. Perhaps a bit much for Corellians but Karen didn't care. Grant could suck it. She loved flowers.

"Oh my!"

She quickly snatched it up and gave it a snip of her fingers. Then placing it well behind her ear like a trophy. There! Much better.

"Hehe. I love it. Thank you Master Jedi. Very nice indeed."

Karen listened to the rest of his story with a smile and a nod. Grateful that Josh had finally cemented his place in the world. A rare gift for many a Jedi these days. Indeed. After the fall of Coruscant? Karen had been rather listless for quite some time. So, as he spoke of finding his center as a Jedi savior. She could only beam with pride. What was life but an adventure.

"I must say Josh. I'm rather of proud of you. There are quite a few Jedi who would have experienced what you did and simply gone Dark or Rogue. Drowned their sorrows in women or wine. Oh yes. Poor things. I've seen it quite a few times with my own students too. They buckle and run to the Darkside at the first sign of hardship or a challenge. So... All things considered. I'm quite proud to see that you've made a future for yourself. And one of your own crafting no less. ...Very impressive. Hehe. I think the other Grandmasters would have been proud too."

She giggled as the waiter returned.

"Oh right! Lunch."

She made a quick order. Strawberry chicken salad with an avocado brandy sandwich. Mmm. It felt like vacation just to say it.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

A chuckle escaped his lips at her response to his gift of a rose. He'd meant it originally as a jokingly flirtatious sort of thing, since, well, you know him. But the fact she was now married changed it's meaning. He wasn't disappointed or anything though. He'd at least known [member="Karen Roberts"] long enough to want her to be happy. And this whole thing with giving up the Jedi religion, and being married... Well, it made her happy. Which made him happy. The meaning now? Happiness at seeing her again after so long, after so much had happened. It was good to see her alive and happy throughout it all, after all. It was still good to see her nonetheless.

The fall of Coruscant had been a trying time for many. But for the Jedi especially. In a lot of ways, it was the beginning of the end of the Jedi that Josh had known. Well, not really. It was dead before that. But the fall had brought out emotions and viewpoints from them that had split them far beyond repair. Something that had driven Josh away from it for the longest time, before returning to try and set things right. Of course, he was only one man. He could continue to fight for what he believed in, but he couldn't change a majority. And unfortunately, he knew that. Now, all he could do... Was do his part to do the right thing. At the very least, he had found his center. He knew he was doing the right thing, and that at least gave him a bit of comfort, a bit of peace of mind.

"You don't know the half of it" He half-joked with a light chuckle toward her words. "But... You're right. Things have been so trying for the Jedi as a whole, I've seen people jump ship quite a bit in the last few years. Even those I considered close friends" He would admit, followed by a bit of his lip. "But... Thank you. That means a lot to me to hear you say that. I'm happy that you've finally found your happiness as well. It means the world to me to know at least one Jedi, or former in this case, has found her happiness in a galaxy in turmoil."

As the waiter returned, he smiled and would make his order. A bit of meat, a bit of vegetation, a balanced meal really. Though the meal itself was a little more luxurious then one that one would take mainly for keeping in shape. He was taking this as a fun lunch, after all, not a simple trip to a diner.

"So you mentioned that you gave up the Jedi and the mercenary stuff?" He would inquire as he made his order. "Unless I missed it, what exactly do you do now?"

Karen's eyes browsed the cafe. Mm. Sullust was strange a strange planet these days. Less lava and more agriculture, I suppose. Or maybe it was the new construction she was noticing everywhere now. Huh. Weird.

"Oh? Right."

Her job. Duh.

"I work with the Denon Academy of Science now. They're in the process of building, categorizing, reviewing, and editing the Imperial Archives. It's... A monumental task really. But seeing as the effects of the Gulag Plaque still remind us everyday of what we've lost? Well. I'm happy to help out."

She shrugged. It was a job and it paid. That was about it.

"I'm on the Committee for Jedi and Force Lore. Mostly I just deal with the Holocrons. ...Yeah. So. The DAS doesn't have many mages you see? So, old Jedi like me are very helpful when it comes to unlocking Force trinkets and the like. Hehe."

Her eyes crossed the room again. Touching, watching, sensing. Letting old habits do their thing.

"So yeah. I'm basically a librarian. Ha. Who would have thought. Cheers eh!"

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

He hadn't actually been to Sullust before, surprisingly. This was his first trip. But he'd been scanning the area, both with sight and with feeling and sense, since he'd arrived. It was so new, so different. And yet he'd never been here before in all of his travels. In a way, it was amazing. In others, it was intimidating. But man always feared the new and the unknown, right? While he did not directly fear it, and was more curious of what it had in store then that... He still felt at least a bit intimidated by what could be in store if he wasn't careful on this planet. There was always a catch with new planets...

To her answer, he would nod his head as he listened, but then the most playful of smirks crossed his lips. Oh, Karen should know what was coming.

"So does that make you the old librarian that you see in pretty much every library, ever?" He would tease, that smirk turning into a grin. "Well, on the bright side, at the very least you look young for your age" Josh would joke with a laugh. "Just try not to throw out your back, or your age'll show."

Karen bladed her eyes like a coming storm and just maybe the rose in her hair caught yellow fire and exploded into a thousand pieces. Kaboom! ...Ya know. Maybe. If Karen's imagination was real and all that. Hmph.

"Oh well poo on you Mr Joshua Dragonsflame. Hmph."

She folded her arms in mock disdain.

"Why, I'll have you know that forty is the new twenty. Thank you very much."

It wasn't. But still, Karen didn't look a day over 27. The Force's doing no doubt. Still? She puckered her bottom lip and threw her chin into the air. Every bit the pouting diva.

"Hmph! In fact. I think you should buy my lunch just to apologize!"

Ah yes. The old 'you hurt my feelings' routine. Mmm. This always worked with Grant and Mike Dahl. Yep. Just pout a little and all the white knights in the room will start buckling at the knees. Desperate to make up for the offense. Ha. Men. From Sith Lords to Jedi Masters. All them still such chivalrous suckers for a woman's attention. Ha! Easy as pie.

Ooo...

Pie. Mmmm.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

A big grin crossed his lips. He'd been teasing, of course, and wouldn't ever actually insult Karen. That mischievous glint in his eyes told that. "Forty is the new twenty now, is it? Are you telling me that you're forty, Karen?" He would tease, the grin broadening. "You really are getting old. Do they have seniors benefits for former Jedi?" He would inquire, starting to laugh. The laughing only increased when she said that he should buy her lunch for "offending" her.

"Kare, that might work on anyone else, but I think you're going to have to pay for your own lunch today" He would remark with another laugh. "Besides, being a former Jedi, you know full well what Jedi paycheques are like. Nobody ever said we did this for the money" He cracked, grinning in turn. Only Josh would joke about the whole Jedi financial thing. He seemed to be able to joke about just about anything - whether it was Karen's age, or the Jedi financial issue.

"Look on the bright side. The wrinkles aren't visible. Yet" He teased. "If you're lucky, you'll manage to get to 50 without the wrinkles showing your age. You certainly fooled me."

Oh... You're murder bait now mister.

She folded her lips into a frustrated frown. Bah! What a sly devil. How did he ever command the respect of real warriors with such dad jokes. Wrinkles. Bah!

"Fine. Well, I guess at least one of us has to make a real paycheck. Hmph."

Karen returned her speckled frown to the blonde devil before her.

"Speaking of paychecks? Did you ever find a place to settle down? Or is it the eternal bachelor's lifestyle for ol' Dragonsflame eh?"

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

Another laugh escaped him, seeming quite happy to just torment and joke with the former Jedi who he could just quip back and forth with, shooting the breeze like there was no trouble in this galaxy. It was... Rather relaxing, really. He would grin over at her in response to her comeback. "Perhaps. Perhaps one day I'll find something outside of the Jedi, when I'm able, and settle down. Get a paying job. But I'm not through with fighting yet. I may be one of the types who prefer a peaceful solution, but with the Sith around... Well, I'm always going to be a fighter. Maybe I'll be a sell-saber when I'm done, like you" He would remark, half-jokingly. "Maybe I'll do something daring. There's some high profile bounties on the biggest criminal scum in the galaxy, after all... From mass murderers to crime lords. Maybe I'll wear a mask and start killing them off, trash talking the whole way" Josh would joke, with another laugh.

To her next question, he thought it over a moment, before shrugging his shoulders. "Bachelor" He answered, noting their drinks arriving and taking a sip of his own. "But... There's this woman that... Well, you get the idea. I can't get my mind off her, even if I try. But I'm not exactly the greatest at making the first move" Josh would admit, and started to laugh a little more. "She's beautiful. Absolutely stunning. Possibly one of the most beautiful women I've ever met in this life. Her eyes are a beautiful shade, that I could gaze into for eternity and never get tired of them... And she truly loves what she believes in, going to whatever lengths she could to preserve it. To her craft, she is dedicated, and she has always given time to those that worked with her, whether on level with her, or if they're below her, it doesn't matter. I both admire her, and feel my heart beating for her, but I can never find the words" Escaped his lips, scratching his head and laughing a little bit in embarrassment. "It's a strange feeling. One I have not held in a very long time."

Karen had to raise an eyebrow to such talk. Was poor Josh now in the humble throws of love? Haha. Oh my! How fickle a fancy was this? To see the great romantic bewitched by another woman's magic. Ooo, it made her squeal with delight. Though... It was honestly hard to tell. Josh did enjoy his knightly speaking so much that it was rather difficult to tell his highs from his lows. But enough, he seemed troubled well enough in the heart of his singledom. Might as well pry.

Oh?

But then Karen had the strangest vision. Like a passing face with even quicker memory. Oh? Huh. Then... Mm. Then, she knew to choose her words more carefully.

"Is she a Jedi, Josh? ...I mean. Ya know. One of those, I-don't-sex Jedi? Oh dear."

Ugh. Because that would be disastrous.

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

"To be brutally honest? I have no idea" He would admit, letting out a sigh. "We've bantered back and forth many a time, jokes and all. She's definitely a Jedi, so I have no clue what her convictions are in that... District. The heart of the issue is at the fact that... Well... You're going to laugh your arse off at this, but... I'm shy" He would admit, with an embarrassed smile. He was shy! Who ever thought that was possible?

"I can fire my usual flirts and jokes and all easily, but they're just humor. This is real, and I can't bring myself to say anything." He admitted flat out as he took another few sips of his drink, as though it held the answers he sought.

Answers? Hell. He'd answered it himself. Just say something dude!

"Umm. So... Why don't you just ask her out? Forgive me for being so blunt but,.. You're not fourteen anymore Dragonsflame. Shy? Yeahhh. Shy just doesn't cut it anymore."

She leaned back in her chair and sighed,

"Grow a pair dude. Seriously."

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

A laugh escaped them.

"Perhaps you're right" He answered. "Perhaps you're right. I'm not exactly used to romantics, it's been way too long. Considering we've been all business for the most part, besides banter here and there, it just feels strange to go up to her and say it. Especially considering that until recently, she was my boss" Josh would explain, an amused glint in his eye.

As their food arrived, he shrugged his shoulders.

"But kark it. Might as well try."

[member="Karen Roberts"]

Karen frowned as, his realization seemed just plain obvious to her. But then again. She'd known Grant for years and years now. Their relationship had taken two decades to grow. Heck, it still was. So... She couldn't really fault him. Just. A little surprised that all that Jedi power and charisma hadn't attracted him a mate yet. It was interesting. If anything.

She shrugged again and began sorting her food.

"How about your students then Josh? How goes the mentoring?"

[member="Joshua DragonsFlame"]

Finally, a topic that he could talk about at length. He would begin cutting up his food as he would take a moment to consider the words to say on the subject. There was just so much to go through, so much he could say, but he didn't want to bore her. He needed to choose his words carefully and just let it flow from there.

"Better. I've changed up my training program, for starters. I've stopped following the rules that the factions I was in would set. They were far too easy, and the Jedi they were churning out were far from ready for Knighthood, much less Masterhood, which they gave out like candy soon after. My goal is to make sure that by the time they finish up under my mentorship, and become actual Jedi Knights... They're -ready- to become Jedi Knights. Not students with fancy titles. Actual Jedi Knights. I'm done with busting my arse to train a student who just wants the world handed to them on a silver platter, only to have someone go over my head, and give them Knighthood long before they're ready. And what happens when they do? Usually, that Padawan goes and does two things. Either they jump to the dark side, go rogue or just leave the Order... Or I have to get the news that my former Padawan's been killed because they were sent on a Jedi Knight mission that they were far from ready for. Every Padawan who they've gone over my head on, has since disappeared. None. There's none of them left in the known galaxy. They're either AWOL, or dead. And that frustrates me more then you know."

Josh would excuse himself for a moment to take a few bites before it got cold, and once he swallowed some pieces down, he would continue. "The one Padawan at the time that I was able to keep from them going over my head, was named Gherron Vael. I experimented on a lighter version of this new training program with him, and managed to keep him onboard without my faction at the time going over my head. He was impatient, he was immature and headstrong. He would partake in illegal gambling and races for thrills. I once had to bust an illegal race gamble along with another member of the Jedi Council, and imagine my embarrassment when I had to drag back my own Padawan to the Temple, because he'd been involved in that race and had been gambling illegally. He didn't do it for any Jedi-related reason, he was just a rebellious teenager thinking he could get away with it. While I was off on a mission, he faked to the council that I'd been neglecting him in training, and he was re-assigned to a new Master. Thing is, this new Master wasn't near as gentle and patient as I was. He was an Ewok, short, stubby and had an even shorter temper. I'm pretty sure Gherron still has bruises where that Ewok whacked him with a stick for his shenanigans. It was out of my hands at that point, so I just... Let it go. He wasn't near finished, but he wanted to be fast tracked to Knighthood, and figured that Ewok would be willing to give him it for the sake of getting rid of him."

Josh would take another sip of his drink.

"Unfortunately, his Master was killed in a Republic battle. A shame, really, I kind of liked the little munchkin. Some Sith named Kara, I believe, did him in. So Gherron was left without a Master. After talking to him, I decided to take him on one more time. At the time, I'd been on a hiatus from teaching, because of them constantly going over my head, but when I took Gherron in again, I decided to try the training style, or an in-progress version anyway, that I mentioned, with him. It's more hands on, and they're to know ahead of time that it's the long way around, that I won't allow them to pass go until they're truly ready. Surprisingly... It worked. The kid managed to turn himself around. He was Knighted long after others who got it easy peasey in the faction, but it allowed him to grow up quite a bit. I subjected him to his Jedi Trials personally, and oversaw it entirely on my own. When he passed them, he was ready. I cut his Padawan braid, and christianed him a Knight."

And then he smiled brightly, beaming with pride.

"And he's done me proud since."

After a few more mouthfuls were swallowed, he would continue.

"Since then, the training program has been finished, and I've been taking in new Padawans as of late. My style is hands on, sometimes one on one, sometimes working with my other Padawans. I'm trying to teach them everything they need to become a Jedi Knight, as well as encouraging them to work with one another, and become a family of sorts. I know how important it is to work well with your fellow Jedi, and having your fellow Jedi at your back is essential. My current class is composed of a moisture farmer from Tatooine named Doug. Interesting kid, I met him when I was on a slave liberation run. His parents were kidnapped and sent to the camp, and he stowed away with nothing but a womp rat hunting blaster. He intended to storm the blasted place on his own and get his folks back. I decided to take him with me, making sure he stayed in the back and shot. Sensing potential in him, I took a staff from one of the slavers we'd taken down, and started to instruct him on the fly while we went through. But it was when I was knocked down and dropped my lightsaber that things became interesting. He actually managed to pick it up and take a slaver or two down with it. While it was clumsily, the fact he didn't cut his own head off tipped me off to the idea that he could be Force Sensitive. I tested him and confirmed it after we were finished, and once we got his folks and the other slaves out. Kid is rough around the edges, but he's a dedicated Jedi. He'll do well one day."

His eyes continued to beam with pride. "Then there's Dusaro. He's my age, had been wandering the galaxy as a mercenary for Force knows how long. But the kid had a heart of gold. I met him on another slave liberation run and he gave me a hand. He showed affinity to the Force and I had him tested as well. The guy was just kind of wandering, going from job to job, with no real direction. I'm thrilled that I was able to give him something to fight for."

He would chow down a bit more before speaking again. "My third Padawan is Anora, she was assigned to me by the Silvers Sanctum. She's... Still learning, to say the least. She seems unmotivated, and gets frustrated easily. But I'll get through to her eventually. She just needs to learn patience. It's one of the things I stress the most during my training sessions" Josh would explain, letting it all sink in as he would continue to chow down.

It was clear that his teachings and his Padawans were incredibly important to him. Just like the rest of his work.
