STRENGTHS
  • Shieldsbane: The Subjugator II was designed around a single philosophy: invalidate the enemy's shields as viciously as possible. For this reason, the vessel has been designed around the SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannon - capable of dealing an ion torpedo's damage over an immense radius - along with an assortment of shield-shredding armaments.
  • Automation: As a command ship, the Subjugator II was designed with internal efficiency in mind. To this end, a large assortment of on-board systems were automated through the integration of droid brain technology. This, in turn, cuts down on the number of crew members necessary to operate the vessel - thereby allowing more attention to be placed upon the coordination of supporting forces.
WEAKNESSES
  • Pace: In terms of sublight speed and maneuverability, the Subjugator II is immensely slow. These natural drawbacks are only multiplied whilst its primary armaments are in use.
  • Tower: Although defensive emplacements have been dedicated to this area's defense, to say that the command center sticks out like a sore thumb is an understatement. Compared to the rest of the vessel's body, the sterm-mounted tower is a tall, and obvious, target.
  • Connection: Much akin to the original Subjugator, there is a vulnerability whilst charging up the Ion Pulse Cannon. Firing upon the connection between the Cannon and the Hull from above can overload the charging sequence, prompting the weapon to backfire. This will cause significant damage to the Subjugator II's onboard systems.
  • Ion Pulse Cannon: Although immense in capability, the Subjugator II's main armaments are subject to the following pitfalls:
Power Constraints: As a 200 meter cannon, the SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannon demands an extraordinary sum of power to operate. This demand is so great that only true Battlecruisers (2,500 meters) can even handle operating one of these machines. Furthermore, power must be diverted from other systems in order to function; with the most typical being shields and/or sublight engines. Essentially, when charging, firing, and for several moments afterwards, the average Battlecruiser will sufered noticeably lessened shield integrity and the a noticeable drop in sublight speed.

Slow: Although capable of dealing a large sum of damage to shields, the SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannon is defined by a sluggish pace. To begin, the Cannon takes a large span of time to fully charge (3 post minimum). Then, upon firing, the burst travels at a pace that makes combating smaller vessels a near impossibility. Starfighters, Gunships, Corvettes, and even agile Frigates can often maneuver out of the weapon's path with minimal issue. Lastly, it takes several moments for the Cannon to be recharged and ready to fire agan; essentially relegating it to a role of anti-Star Destroyer combat (4 post minimum).

Diminishing Return: Although, within the optimal range (approx close-to-medium) the SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannon delivers a blow of similar might to an ion torpedo, the weapon does experience a significant drop in efficiency with distance. As the burst travels, the diameter gradually increases to a maximum radius of 1.5x the size of the Cannon (300 meters). However, while a glance at the Burst at this size would be terrifying, the effectiveness at its peak would be noticeably less than a standard ion cannon.
DESCRIPTION

Centuries ago, during the height of the original Confederacy, a single production line was hailed as the mightiest among their navy. Known as the Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser, this line became infamous for its ability to literally shut down the very best destroyers the Republic could field with ease. And, although the Subjugators were not enough to prevent the Confederacy's eventual collapse, they did earn their place among the pages of legend. It was to this mighty example that the modern Confederacy turned to when seeking to build their own monstrosity.

In short, the philosophy behind the Subjugator II was overwhelming offense. Although their resources were a far cry from those of the original Confederacy, the Subjugator II design teams assembled a number of armaments suited to the task. The result was a battlecruiser which revolved around the invalidation of an enemy's shields: whether by deactivation or penetration.

To spearhead this effort, the Confederacy fielded the first of its experimental SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannons aboard the Subjugator II.

However, while the finished product was more than capable of doing its well exceptionally well, there were some noticeable drawbacks. First and foremost, the SB-01 Ion Pulse Cannons carried with them a plethora of demands which reduced the overall performance of the Subjugator II. In particular, the vessel is already slow in terms of sublight speed and maneuverability; yet the Ion Pulse Cannons only compound this negative trait. Furthermore, unbeknownst to the design teams, the very same charging vulnerability present in the original Subjugator persists in its successor.

Despite these drawbacks, the Subjugator II is currently the most powerful vessel of the Confederate Navy. May its enemies approach with extreme caution.
