Whether it was thanks to Naamino Zuukamano Naamino Zuukamano berating the medical staff when Haro Aven Haro Aven had first arrived to the field medic tent, or Leshanna Dromar Leshanna Dromar wielding what influence she had, or just the natural elapsing of time, the half-kage was finally moved to a proper medical ward. It happened shortly after Naami was court martialed and the transfer had been a blur.

Haro's injuries were still profound enough that he had to be sedated during transfer, and Leshanna had not been allowed to accompany him. Her Master having summoned her back for something urgent — for which the neti would accept no excuse or delay.

So the young man was transported alone, drugged and with little idea of what would come next. Only when he arrived at a large, formal medical facility, presumably in the heart of New Shoengen, was Haro allowed to wake from that medically induced stupor.

He found himself in a medical bed made up with starched white sheets and high tech surroundings. His wounds had been newly treated and bandaged, plus he was on an IV which was almost certainly providing him with important hydration as well as nutrients for a time.

For now, Haro was safe. Alone, but safe. With his datapad resting helpfully on an overbed table.

LOCATION: OUTER RIM TERRITORIES > SITH HOLY WORLDS > BROSI > NEW SHOENGEN > DISTRICT HOSPITAL
EQUIPMENT: DATAPAD
OBJECTIVE: REST AND RECOVER
TIMESTAMP: FOLLOWING THE SECOND INVASION OF THE IMPERIAL CONFEDERACY

Waking from deep sedation was much like waking from a slumber, except it was decidedly far more disorienting, especially after all that Haro had been though. The pilot felt as though he'd just dozed off a few minutes ago, yet he was waking up in an entirely unfamiliar place. His body was pleasantly numbed from painkillers but the trauma of the incredible pain in his torso still lingered. His eye lids felt like they weighed a hundred pounds each as he slowly blinked them open, trying to clear the blur from his vision and make sense of where he was. The room was a sterile light grey, the lights were dim and the air smelled like disinfectant. The only sound was Haro's breathing and a faint rhythmic beeping of a cardiac monitor. He was in a hospital room, and a nice one at that—a private one, even. He was alone, though he was sure he was being monitored, and his first coherent that followed identifying his surroundings was about Leshanna Dromar Leshanna Dromar and Naamino Zuukamano Naamino Zuukamano . He assumed getting someone of his lowly station set up in a private hospital room fit for a decorated general, especially in the aftermath of an invasion, had to have been their doing.

He groggily fantasized that his companions were nearby, waiting for the nurse to tell them that he was awake and that they could see him, but he knew better. They were both beholden to the war machine that was the Sith Order and they were obligated to answer it's call in a time of war, even if it was to receive punishment. His heart ached for Naami, knowing he was probably currently facing the consequences of saving Haro's life as opposed to carrying out his orders during the battle. Frustration flared in Haro at the unfairness of it all, but there was no sense in brooding about it now. Not only was Naami a valuable asset to the Order but he was highly competent when dealing with military bureaucracy so Haro had no doubt he could handle the situation. Though the thought helped mitigate his concern, it didn't make him miss the big zabrak any less. Maybe Leshanna was close by though. It would mean the stars to see her beautiful face. He glanced at the door, then he scanned the room for ways to communicate within reach and found his datapad on his bedside table.

As he went to move, the dull ache of his wounds brought him back to the chaos of battle—crashing his fighter in the streets of New Shoengen, getting shot, being closer to death than he'd ever been before. The beeping of the cardiac monitor picked up pace and Haro took a shaky breath, trying to calm himself. He was safe now. Gingerly, he picked up the datapad and pulled up his messages.

Hey Leshy, just waking up. Are you close by? I'd love to see you.

He closed that thread and opened the one with Naami.

Hey buddy, hope you're ok. Looks like I got transferred but not sure where yet.

He paused, then typed out and sent another message.

Miss you...

Lesh was worried. No, she wasn’t worried - she was almost beside herself with anxiety over her two lovers and their conditions and whereabouts. Naamino Zuukamano Naamino Zuukamano had been court martialed for actions he’d taken on the battlefield, and Haro had been shot and nearly killed.

For one brief moment in time, she had both of them together - even if it was under less than ideal circumstances. Then in the blink of an eye, both had been taken from her, all of them separated again - like usual. Leshanna told herself that it was to be expected, serving the Sith Order and the war machine. It came before her relationship with the boys, before everything.

Truthfully, quietly, Leshanna hated that. But she kept her mouth shut and her thoughts to herself and continued forward anyway.

The black haired young woman was hard at work within her Master’s lab on Brosi; she’d been recalled and given orders to help with the restoring of the planet after the second Imperial attack. The planet had been utterly ravaged, but it was a resilient place and would recover in due course.

It was while she was in the lab and carrying out one of her tasks, when she felt her personal datapiece vibrate in her pocket. She stiffened slightly, her heart lurching into her throat, and her mind suddenly raced with a dozen thoughts. Who could it be? Was it Naami, giving her updates or news? Was it her Master, with more orders or directions? Could it possibly be Haro, telling her he was okay?

Of all the people or circumstances she thought of, Lesh silently prayed that it wasn’t Haro. She had been given a very clear and strict command by Lady A’Mia that she did not have permission to leave without her Master’s consent first. And she was not permitted to see Haro at the current point in time - though she had been reassured that he was being medically cared for. Leshanna had found that to be a little odd, that she would be forbidden from seeing her boyfriend, but she accepted that order without comment.

Checking to ensure that she was alone in the lab, Leshanna took a moment to pull her datapad out and see who had messaged her. Her heart both leapt in joy and in dread when she saw that it was, indeed, from her boyfriend Haro Aven Haro Aven .

She scanned it once, then twice, and bit her lower lip in anxiousness. He had just woken up, and wanted to know if she was close by - he wanted to see her.

For a moment, Lesh actually contemplated disobeying her Master and going to see him anyway - but then she remembered that she had no idea where he actually was. He had been transferred to another location - and its whereabouts she realized had been kept out of the discussion with her Master.

In the end, however, Leshanna decided it was wiser to abide by her orders.

Hey babe! I was really worried about you - I am glad you are okay enough to send me a text! I would love to come see you but I do not know where you’ve been transferred to - that and I have been ordered to stay in my Master’s lab for the time being. Gotta help the planet in its recovery ya know. Stupid Imperials. Anyway, I love you! I will see you soon though I'm sure, I promise!

The young woman hesitated for a moment, before hitting the send icon, and watched the message drift off her screen as it was delivered. She exhaled a heavy sigh, before slipping her pad back into her pocket and returning her focus to the tasks before her.

Haro’s heart skipped a beat when his personal datapad buzzed and new message popped up on the screen. He smiled, despite his cracked lips, emotion catching in his throat, but his joy soon faded as he digested the words. She didn't know where he was, and she likely wouldn't have told him that unless she felt like she couldn't or shouldn't find out... Something about that didn't sit right with him.

He had assumed Lesh had been responsible for his placement, or at least had a hand in it, but that was less likely if she didn't even know where she was. As the minutes ticked by with no response from Naami, it became clear that he was likely still dealing with being court martialed which made it highly unlikely he had anything to do with it. He probably didn't know where Haro was either. Dread began to creep in from the corners of Haro's mind. He read the words on the screen over and over as if they were his only lifeline—his only piece to the puzzle in this sterile room that was suddenly starting to feel quite small. If Leshanna and Naami didn't place him here, who did?

Instinctually, he glanced around seeking Bodie until he remembered he'd told the little droid to keep an eye on Naami and make sure he was alright. The incriminating evidence Haro had stollen from Professor Madrona's lab was still hidden within the droid so Haro hadn't wanted Bodie anywhere near the evil Neti. He knew Naami would move mountains to see Haro again when he was able and that he would bring Bodie with him when he did. Unless somehow Naami had discovered the truth...

Haro blinked hard and took a deep breath in an attempt to stop his paranoid spiral. He needed to stay calm and trust the people who trusted him. Trust the Force to be on his side.

I get it babe, no worries. Hopefully they'll let me out of here soon. Stay safe and keep me posted please. Lemme know if you hear from Naami.

He sent the message off to Leshanna then set down his datapad and took stock of his surroundings. The room was notably empty—nothing on the sterile surfaces. His personal belongings were nowhere to be seen. There were a couple wall-mounted receptacles with emergency hyposprays and medpacs but, oddly, there wasn't even a medical droid present, only life support and monitoring equipment built into the wall and bed. There were no windows—at least none that Haro could see out of—and two doors: one several feet from the foot of his bed with a control panel beside it that Haro recognized as a biometric scanner, and another on the wall to his far left with a symbol identifying it as an ensuite refresher.

He was just about to try moving around more when the door hissed open and a nurse stepped inside. A medical mask hid most of their face but their voice was calm and soothing when they greeted him with a datapad in hand. After they completed a series of routine checks on his vitals and basic sensory responses, they asked him a series of other questions about how he was feeling. Haro insisted he actually felt pretty good and when he probed for answers about when he'd be released, where he was, and when he could see his friends, the nurse was vague and noncommittal but reassuring.

"Your wounds are quite severe," they insisted, conciliatory. "For now, it's best if your outside exposure is limited and you're monitored here while you rest in case any further complications arise."

With that, they explained that he could call in a nurse at any time with a press of a button and asked him if he needed anything.

"A shot of instant healing and leave to go?" He quipped with a wink, putting on his best charming smile. He could see the nurse's fake smile in their eyes before they turned to leave.

Haro made note of the two-factor authentication of both retinal and touch scan required to open the door as the nurse left. That seemed a bit excessive. Though, he supposed it would be important to have top-notch security when keeping the high profile kind of patient this room was intended for safe from intruders or assassins... or for keeping prisoners of war locked down and alive for "questioning."

The hours stretched on without further communication or change in stimulus, aside from the occasional visit from a nurse to check on him, until Haro felt like crawling out of his skin. He had tried getting out of bed twice and both times he was stopped by a nurse who had entered before his feet even hit the ground, asking him kindly but firmly to remain in his bed. The second time, the nurse even vaguely threatened to sedate him for his own good if he tried again. Not only did that confirm that he was being monitored but that he was also being actively guarded.

At that point, Haro's meditative exercises were failing him and the panic was beginning to set in. The off-white walls felt as though they were closing in on him, the rhythmic beeping of his cardiac monitor was driving him mad, and his thoughts... his thoughts were a maelstrom of paranoia. He was considering calling in a nurse to ask them to run their tests one more time, to insist that he was feeling well enough and beg them to give him leave or, at the very least, let him get some fresh air.

Despite Haro's best efforts at charm and persuasion, the medical staff were professional to the point of cold clinical care. His every need was provided for, sometimes to the point of discomfort at how closely he was clearly being monitored. However, things seemed to mellow a bit as the day grew long.

His dinner, which was impressive for hospital food, was brought in by a cheerful brunette near-human who gave him a sympathetic smile. She offered to bring him his favorite candy bar from the break-room. She was certainly the only staff member who'd shown any hint of interest in him that was warm or personal.

"My name's Bonnie by the way! I'll be right back with that candy."

Return she did, though it took her a bit longer than implied. Almost as if ensuring he'd finish most of his dinner prior to the secret little dessert she was smuggling in. Setting the treat down on his tray, she turned to tend to his IV and chattered amicably, providing him more context for his treatment than anyone yet had.

"You're already healing well, all things considered. That was a wicked hit you took! Tomorrow you're scheduled for a follow up scan, so the treatment team has a better idea of what you're up against as far as recovery time and any possible complications you might face. For now, you really need rest ok? I know you're antsy."

She turned back, regarding him with kind eyes, and answered whatever questions he had — always redirecting to the fact that waiting was the hardest part but he was well on his way toward mending. Soon, Haro would feel the clear effects of potent painkillers taking effect and it was clear that Bonnie must've added something more to his IV when she switched out the bag. The nurse stayed just long enough for memories of her to become bleary, before she turned down the lights and left him to his rest.

All was quiet, calm darkness for a time. Even the lights and sounds on his monitoring devices has been turned down for nighttime and the medications in his bloodstream did their work. There was the faint click-hiss of the door once or twice as staff members did regular rounds to check on him, but he went otherwise unperturbed through most of the night.

It was in that strange hour just before twilight, where the darkness of the evening is relinquishing its hold of true darkness and the promise of a star's light approaches. It was then that something shifted. Whether Haro was awake to notice was of no consequence.

A corner of the darkened room which had been inky with shadow the entire night, seemed to be growing only darker still. As the narrow windows of the hospital room seemed slowly to lighten with true twilight, the corner shadow moved.

Long tendrils crept along the ceiling against the wall and neared the hospital bed. The form was still indistinguishable, inky black and amorphous aside from the many snaking limbs which seemed to propel it. Where first the thing crept slowly, as if maybe it could be a trick of the light, all at once it moved with terrible speed.

Launching itself from its vantage point, it suddenly landed with terrifying weight upon the hospital bed and wound itself about both Haro and the bed he was confined to. Several of those terrible snaking limbs wrapped like shackles about his arms and legs, while one appendage wrapped his head to block shouts of alarm. They struggled for a moment but it was hardly a fair match up, and if Haro struggled too much he could feel his damaged body protest.

A terrible stillness fell back over the room, with Haro well and truly constricted. An agonizing few minutes later, the door to his room hissed open and out of his restricted peripheral, the mechanic and spy could see an unmistakable figure.

A'Mia approached slowly, her face serene as she glided to loom over him. For a long moment she just stared down at him, her nymph-like face a beautiful mask which gave no sign of emotion nor the terribleness which lurked within. Then she leaned over him, drawing very near so that she could calmly whisper in his ear. The Sithspawn holding Haro tightened its oppressive grip as if in warning.

"You stole from me, Haro Aven Haro Aven . You came to us, to Kor'ethyr and I saw at once that you did not belong. Darth Caedes Darth Caedes insisted you be left alone, insisted there was a plan for you…"

She paused, the very first hint of cold venom entering her voice.

"But you've wormed your way too deeply into the minds of some of the Order's more valuable assets… You've surpassed even my estimations for treachery, and now I suspect you of having something to do with both enemy incursions on Brosi."

Another pause, eerie silence, the sweet smell of flowers from Madrona and a darker undercurrent of earthy decay, like recently tilled compost, which wafted from the beast ensnaring Haro.

"You have stolen from me," A'Mia repeated vehemently, "Now I will take everything from you."

She reached out to grip what part of his face she could, cruelly digging in the tips of her fingers and calling upon the Force to bid he sleep. Once cast into a stupor, Haro Aven was bundled up but the shambling vines and spirited away.

Down, down, down… Deep below the lowest levels of the building, into the depths below Brosi's surface where A'Mia's vast underground laboratory sprawled like an ant colony. The well loved, roguish mechanic was MIA and all official paperwork later released would indicated that he'd left the hospital against medical advice. For now though… he was entirely "unaccounted" for in all databases.

As dawn broke outside and early morning light spilled into the now empty hospital room, Haro's datapad buzzed on the bedside table. Lighting up with a message from Naamino Zuukamano.

Hey.

Pre-trial complete. Wasn't allowed to have any personal effects before that, still probably shouldn't be messaging too much until after the formal hearing but I had to check on you. How are you? Lesh got a message to me that you were transferred. I'll come see you as soon as I'm cleared.

There was so much else Naami wanted to say, so much worry and fear knotted up in his chest. He had to keep calm though, lest he make things worse. The zabrak was resolute and knew he needed to clear his name via the court martial before he could worry about Leshanna Dromar Leshanna Dromar and Haro Aven Haro Aven .
