The Stormwolf III-class Star Destroyer was an improved variant of the Stormwolf, and Stormwolf II-class Star Destroyers. Designed by Iron Wrath Industries, and produced by the Iron Empire; it was a warship conceived for planetary defense, planetary assault, and starfighter transport. It saw use as part of the Iron Imperial Navy, serving the role of a Carrier Star Destroyer. It was visually distinctive from its predecessor, due to its black hull.
Like its predecessors, the Stormwolf III-class Star Destroyer was not intended for ship-to-ship combat. Rather, its focus was the transportation of large quantities of starfighters. To that end, the vessel was outfitted with a large number of hangars. This allowed it to carry up to 12 squadrons of starfighters, for a total of 144 craft.
In addition to the defensive equipment present on the Stormwolf II, the Stormwolf III featured additional redundant shield generators, so as to aid in survivability. Its primary shield generators, and one set of redundant shield generators, sat nestled within the vessel itself, while the final redundant shield generators stood atop its bridge tower.
Similar to its predecessors, this combination of hangar capacity and defensive equipment, left the Stormwolf III-class Star Destroyer with limited space for offensive weaponry. As such, it was equipped with the same relatively meager arsenal as the Stormwolf, and Stormwolf II.
