Stoke the Fires of Industry

Providence.

It is what separates cultists from zealots. There are those who act to see through their Gods, and then there are those who act so that their Gods might see through them. The Primeval are not the same conquerors and crusaders that they used to be, the mysteries of Wild Space had grabbed hold of their best and brightest, and Warlords flock to their banners for riches and worlds.

There is no longer any need for the temple when one has a fortress.

The Host Lord is in need of a fortress, one which can travel the stars and lead fleets against her enemies. Such a vessel is already in the works, but the resources and materials needed to finalize its construction require an expert on such matters. That is why Anja sought out a particular princess whose entire dynasty rides on that which is dug up, refined, and forged. The resources necessary for such a feat as the one the Primeval had challenged themselves to succeed in doing.

This princess, Thais Kallisto, is invited to Bastion where the two shall certainly meet.

For Princess Kallisto the royal gala on Muunilinst was fruitful in terms of contracts. But even more bountiful was the information she was able to extract about who to align with on a closer basis.

It was clear to her that the warmest welcome to Kallisto Mining Company was from the Primeval and the Sith, and although the Crystal Heiress had reservations about jumping in with both feet, she had been fending off the much more frigid shoulders of her own government as well as other organizations which decried slavery. While she was willing to allow the Gutretee natives to go free, she still required slaves for her workforce. Kallisto wasn’t set up for a mechanical workforce – it was not only too expensive, but the crystal environment of Isis was not conducive to electronics. Slaves were her only choice right now to remain profitable.

She knew through her sources that the Primeval, led by Host Lord Anja Aj’Rou, would have no problems with slave labor as it was likely they used slaves themselves as warriors and to feed the pyres of their darkside effigies. Stoking the fires indeed!

And luckily, Aj’Rou wanted to meet with her as well to discuss materials that Kallisto could provide for a fortress to be built.

Thais Kallisto and her entourage arrived on Bastion and made their way to the Imperial Palace. She had brought with her a couple of engineers to help advise on what material would be best suited for this fortress.

The fortress was essentially a heavily armed starship with tactical capabilities. Mobile, sleek, and massive. Certainly not orthodox in what would be described as a fortress, but it provided the same means; a place for armies to gather, defend, and launch assaults from. At the entrance of the Palace, Anja's own guards would meet the Princess's entourage.

Approaching them specifically was the captain of her private guard, a battle-scarred warrior whose footsteps caused Anja's enemy's to tremble. "Follow me," the veteran spoke with a somewhat low, baritone voice. Despite his experience there was a sense of youthfulness about him, an energy that seeped into the hearts of those who followed. A dozen guardsman lined up in formation and escorted the entourage behind their captain who strode proudly through the imperial halls, passing by architecture which reminded those of the Fel Dynasty's mastery over the galaxy.

The depths of the palace were without words to describe, certainly one could get lost for days. Local elders told of children who sneak into it having starved to death trying to find their way out, certainly to scare them off but one couldn't help but believe that there may be some truth to it. Nonetheless the halls were surprisingly vacant, and no doubt it was intentional as the Host Lord was particularly private woman. In fact; only a handful of people know her face outside of the Primeval.

A Primeval Captain met the Kallisto group at the Palace entrance. “As you wish,” said Napo, the Princess’s main attendant who was a crystal-faced Gutretee native from her home planet of Isis. Along with the young noblewoman were two of her own Palace Guards who fell in line with the Primeval Guards as they made their way through the Imperial Palace. Thais Kallisto wanted to stop and take a look at the design, but she had to keep up with the guards who strode quickly and with certainty to their destination. Perhaps, she could arrange for a private tour later. She wasn’t a building engineer herself, but she did have a strong familiarity with what her quarry produced – marble, granite, and especially quartz. Thais was a fan of quartz because it was stronger than stone, and it always polished so nicely.

As they continued on, the Princess realized just how large the Host Lord’s palace was. Listening to the steady march of footsteps, they wound their way through the hallways to finally rest at the entrance to their meeting place for the Empress of Bastion. The walls are so bare, she thought, but would never say it aloud. Still perhaps Aj’rou longed for some type of decoration? Even a fanciful tapestry or two? A painted portrait? The Princess could definitely recommend a good portrait artist. She had several of herself - likenesses from various ages placed around her own Crystal Palace.
