Bryce Bantam
Just a dude
Name: Stiletto “Sect Slashers”
Intent: NPC group to add depth to “The Kathol Outback”
Affiliation: All, this is an NPC group playable by anyone.
Availability: Common
Quality: D - Untrained
Type: Pirates
Strength: Depends on the size of the ship they crew. Their strength can vary from as few as a dozen to as many of 150. If they ever control a ship that will be crewed by more than 150 then multiple sects will work together. No one sect is usually armed the same as the next, but on average it can be assumed they will be armed with assorted, scatter guns, slug throwers, hold out blasters and light carbines. Heavy weapons and rifles are usually shunned as they can breach hulls and cause decompression. Armor for each member is ramshackle at best and non-existent on many of the members. This is due to the fact that “The Stiletto's” will usually hit soft targets and so anything more that the above is usually never needed. They are pirates of opportunity, acting as lone wolves, and laying in wait at choke points through out the hyperlanes between system of the region. When a easy target presents itself they will pounce, attacking with ion and em weapons, and tractoring in the target. They hope the target will surrender and be an "easy board", but if they fight back the slashers are not above board by force but this is not their first choice. While waiting if a target is perceived to be thier equal or stronger they will withdraw and wait for an easier target.
Description: The Stiletto’s are a pirate league that functions primarily along the Trition Trade Route. Based out of a yet unidentified system they make their living and fortunes harassing the many light and medium freighters that travel this treacherous route and sell their stolen good on the black market or to darker governments such as the Qektoth Federation.
Their origins can be traced back to the fall of the LOTF. After it ceased to control the area many of the then disbanded soldiers and crew that did not defect to Primeval or The One Sith banded together into a collective for mutual survival. Taking what ships, equipment, and supplies that were left in remote outposts their operation was small at first but soon grew into a complex network of piracy and extortion.
The most common ship in their arsenal is the Defensor-class Anti-Missile Vessel, however, some of the less common ships they use are the Karakter Pocket Carrier ,and the Gehenna-class Frigate. All holdovers from the LOTF navy.
Most sects to not work for extended periods of time, instead, a ship and sect will work to steal enough so they can live comfortably on their, as yet unknown homeworld. (A world that will be subed later) but is rumored to be one of near perfect climate and around a yellow dwarf star. The system us said to have very little in it other than a small orbiting platform to allow ships to dock but not much else. If Stiletto ships need to be repaired or refit their captains will make for friendly ports such as those in the Qektoth Federation and the like.
While the ship they were manning will normally just pick up a new sect at a port and go back to pirating after repairs. Members of the leaving sect will take an extended vacation, only returning to port once the money and booze are gone. They will find a captain that needs a crew and “sign on” for a tour. Most repeat the process above till they are either dead or have saved enough to not need to pirate any longer and retire.
