Stepping back into the life (Ayumi Pallopides).

The Jedi Temple of Yutan.
[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]
Twelve long years, Veiere Arenais had been in exile yet on the thirteenth year of this stage in his life, he found himself once more led back into the Jedi Order, supporting the Galactic Republic both in their battles to support and provide care for the common people, and also during times of relative peace where he might aid in the smaller yet none the less important jobs such as keeping the peace in their sector of space. Above all of this, the mans heart still beat for the Jedi Order and after a lifetime of dedication, rendered into solitude and only to be reawakened by the will of the Force, his highest priority once more became a reality in that he was finally allowed back into the heart of the Order, not just to witness the beauty of the Jedi Temple but to instruct in lessons, to teach those interested in pursuing the Jedi path, to see that knowledge grow in those young minds yearning to know the mysteries of the Force in all it's power and fruition across the grand expanse, we know to be the Galaxy.

This day was not unlike the others, still early in his return and adapting to the life of the Jedi Knight, once more (not an official sanction but still holding some semblance to his former position); Veiere awaited the newest of his students for the morning. Having been approached, he had been informed that this request had come from someone much older than his typical group of younglings and eager teen aged Jedi-to-be. It would offer a refreshing change to be able to converse with someone of an experienced mind and help them where they sought the guidance they so required to progress in their path. After all, even Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters of the path, often needed advice from time to time. Humble in their way, Veiere saw nothing but privilege in the fact that he might offer said help to someone alike himself, knowing the Order and more importantly, knowing what they wished to advance in, likely in far more detail than the younger students of the Order might.

Ayumi had not been expecting what had happened since Gyndine. She had thought they would be able to use the things properly at the ship yards but then they had been attacked and her soldiers were moving to attack and protect. With all of the work she was doing Ayumi tapped on her forearm datapad before she checked the taozin bracelet she had and removed it. She didn't need it for this at least as for some the cat was out of the bag when she was moving. Wearing the light bodyarmor that was form fitted to her body with the utility belt and the prototype mesh they had been developing to protect from the force over it synthweaves with dreamsilk. It was in place of the force immune duster she had modified look wise into a senate coat instead relying on this mesh material to do much the same. Her necklace to protect from hostile mental influence was also there and it would alert her when near darksiders as she arrived in the room. Hair behind her shoulders and the atrisian features showing before she spoke with a raised eyebrow. "THank you for this, not many knew of my status until after the events of Gyndine."

The classroom that he stood within the center off was a wide open and circular room, the floor clear and unobstructed for the most part with the exception of the walls which held rows of seating moving down to touch the perimeter of the inner circle. This room was likely often used for such things as lectures or heavily populated and competitive sparring competitions shared between the students and organized by their lecturers and mentors yet these things were not a common enough occurrence for Veiere's new presence within the Temple to get in the way of and so, without formal position and a proper class of his own to use, they had offered him this one to make do in the time being.

The beauty of being an instructor such as himself was that he was not on a known personal basis with anyone. The initial days offering him an unbiased outlook in that he was still getting to know the new environment which differed so much from the former Enclave of Svivren where he had once called home and hailed from alongside his late apprentice, Brennan Cabrol. It was however a humbling experience to come into the Jedi Order once more and one that he hoped his fallen Padawan might think kindly on, from the other side.

The door took his gaze before it had even opened, the force informing him that he had company before the plasteque and durasteel doors hissed, sliding open and parting from the middle as [member="Ayumi Pallopides"] came walking in. Tilting his head slightly, he gazed over what the Knight of the Force appeared to be wearing, seemingly readied for battle rather than a lesson in education and guidance yet it wasn't his place to judge, nor did he know where she had come from. Though she seemed convinced that he knew something as she spoke to him readily, not yet introducing herself.

"Forgive me..." He began, dipping his head forward in a formal bow of greeting before continuing as his gaze returned to her; "I'm afraid they've not told me much of your situation aside from that you wish to train and progress your skills in Prima Vitae and advanced Telepathy", he had been on Mimban during the fighting yet had no knowledge of Gyndine or what had occurred there. Upon the end of the conflict, he had returned to Commenor where Lady Kay had been and the days since had been spent either by her side or reconnecting with the Jedi Order. "You are, I presume, Master Ayumi Pallopides?" He pulled his datapad from his right hip, tugging it from his belt and activating the handheld device to double check his scheduled lessons; "Is there something they've neglected to tell me, important to todays session?".

Ayumi looked at him and he seemed strange as she spoke. "Well I don't tell anyone I can use the force. I am not a master or student in the enclave I am the senator of Denon." She remained there and she wasn't one for the enclave like the other things, her outfit was protective compared to the other things and since she wasn't a jedi... actually she was far from a jedi given her family history and chose to avoid being with a lot of them. She only came here because advanced telepathy was an important thing to learn and something that could beef up her skills she had been using on Gyndine. Battle meditation to a degree she had only previously practiced or tried in her dreams. "After what happened I figured I had reached the limits of what I could self train."

Veiere's brows furrowed as he listened to [member="Ayumi Pallopides"] now understanding what she'd meant by the nature of her situation. She had been right to keep her affinity to the Force a secret, as just as [member="Lady Kay"] had spoken of, Veiere knew that those involved in the politics of the Galactic Republic were forbidden from learning of the ways of the Force due to the threat of manipulation among the senate; and vice versa, he himself could not take part in the mess that was the political heart of the Republic, (not that he would have wished to). A quiet sigh escaped through barely parted lips as he returned his gaze to the datapad, frowning and questioning why entrance to the Temple, let alone the scheduling of such a lesson had been authorized. Perhaps it was due to reasons above his level of access in Temple etiquette yet that did not excuse that this was against the laws of the Jedi Order.

Gesturing for her to accompany him to the closest portion of the seating surrounding the room, he wished to take a seat and further inquire as to Ayumi's request. He suddenly found himself torn between his morals and the known mandate of the Jedi Temple, a former image of the Order, one [member="Mantic Dorn"] had put such a law in place for the betterment of the Order's relationship in sync with the Republic itself and even Theodred Heavenshield had questioned such things with him.

"This puts me in a rather troubling position, I must confess..." He began to explain, quietly though there was no one else in the room, he still preferred the subtlety of speaking cautiously, "Truth be told, had I known what to expect, I would have declined to lead this lesson as it stands to cross a morale line in the Jedi Order, that we do not educate those within a political nature, so to ensure that the force does not become a deterrence to democracy. That said however..." He paused, considering his words carefully, "There is someone else who I know and work alongside in a similar position. Yet they are a person of great integrity in what they do and I believe them to be sincere of heart in that they live first for the people of the republic and not their position in power. If we are to start...-To risk crossing this line, I need to understand why it is you're seeking guidance from the Jedi and how you plan to use the Force; knowing that any immoral reason will see me deny this request".

As it were, Veiere felt that the Jedi Order had slipped in its standards when the others abandoned the Republic and went their seperate ways, arguing over who to follow or what direction to take. Veiere, as much as he wished to help, couldn't allow himself to contribute to the further decline of the Jedi of the Republic and this was a risk in which threatened as much; he needed evidence against the contrary, that he might see something in her to know and believe that pursuing this lesson would be in both her and the Order's best interests.

Ayumi sat down when he motioned and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Adjusting her outfit so it looked proper while she thought about how best to answer that question. "Well your stance is valid but it is also flawed master jedi. I am not coming to the jedi to learn and be taught how to use the force. My family has had that down for nearly nine hundred years. I came because I had to use the force in a way that was less known to me and more exotic on Gyndine. I meditated and battle meditated across an entire star system, I felt the minds of tens of thousands of soldiers Mandalorian, black ties, Republic and civilian militia. I worked to inspire them, to coordinate them and give them the iron will they needed to think about victory and the stamina to make that happen. I haven't been secretly force sensitive and now I need to learn so I can have an aspect of myself be better. I already know what I can do and have seen what I can really do if pushed, I also saw how easy it would have been to simply enforce that willpower I was using to inspire or demoralize and turn it into a direct control of them. I need to master control and have the presence of mind."

His head tilted some, his eyes glancing back to [member="Ayumi Pallopides"] as he listened to her claim his view to be flawed. It was interesting as far as debates went and something that he had not taken a part of in a great many years, discussing the conduct of those within the Temple of the Jedi Order and the actions of all members, that they follow a moral and just code. "None the less, you have entered the Jedi Temple seeking guidance from a member of the Order and I must ensure that all lessons I give are sought after for the intention of peace and the deterrence of conflict, just and true reasons that adhere by our standards and ideals, as flawed as they might seem to you, I do this because it is required of me. It would be irresponsible of me to know not the student of whom I'm guiding, would it not?" He questioned; though his tone sounded off rhetorically.

"That said..." He spoke again, his tone turning as she had offered him a change in perspective, though only marginal; "What you say is true, you know of the Force and this is not by my hand. It would be best to help you in the pursuit of practicing it responsibly, both in your interests and that of the people that you associate yourself with, that you might not injure anyone unintentionally. No matter how experienced we believe ourselves to be, myself included, the use of mentally intrusive abilities such as Telepathy and all the other skills that fall under that branch ought to be respected and treated with great caution, least you render someone a vegetable or take their life entirely..." as it stood, it seemed that he was indeed considering if not already planning to go ahead with the lesson, though he spoke in gently warning in the case that the art of such practices might not appear to be so volatile to the woman; he did not know her nor of how confident she might be.

"You mentioned you were near Gyndine recently? I was stationed on Mimban myself before moving to Commenor. I'm curious to know how you used these abilities of yours. Not why, not for what purpose but your process of producing such a result through the use of the Force. It will help me to build on what you already know if I can understand the way in which your connection to the Force best serves you".

Ayumi's face remained neutral and expressionless listening to him while he was speaking and it was taking a lot to remain neutral and focused. She had come with the grandmasters understanding that it was dangerous to not have control. Hell the old man seemed to understand what it meant when it came to using the force but not being part of the order. IT was why when he had come to Denon for the reconstruction of the jedi archives and temple there within the fortress world he wanted her to know how to protect herself from the dangers of reaching out and touching the minds of tens of thousands of people all at once as she spoke. "Deterrence of conflict." The words came out and she was looking at him with a little practiced surprise. "The entire purpose of the skill my family has trained in secret for nine hundred years is for conflict. Battle meditation and with some battle coordination is used to make the fight quicker, to inspire and control the outcome by inspiring and touching the minds of everyone from the lowest civilian aiding the army to defend his home to the greatest jedi master or most vile sith lord. The very name of it is implies that peace has failed and battle is upon everyone. On Gyndine there was no peace, as an option, no conflict resolution that could be had. On Mimban and across the various sectors the Mandalorian Empire targeted there was no chance of peace with an enemy that kills women and children."

Battle-Meditation, it was one of those abilities classed under both alignments of the Force that Veiere chose not to practice for the simple fact that the intrusion of it's practice upon the minds and paths of others was just too great. To control and manipulate such a mass for the purpose of overcoming war was a dangerous prospect in his eyes, the Jedi Order refrained from the act of killing in almost every way where it was possible to spare life and yet [member="Ayumi Pallopides"] was arguing, albeit civilly, that her sole purpose and that of her people had been built for the sake of war and defeating her enemy. "I know of the atrocities of Mimban..." He reminded her, "Do you know how many people that I slew with my blade? Not a single life was taken by my hand. The Jedi Order does not condone the act of violence where there might be an alternative to death, and to take a life is to wound the veil of the very Force itself; this has long since been taught to us. To rise up in the defense of others, yes, this is our mandate but nothing is so black and white that we might seek to end a life without seeking an alternative. Both for the side we choose to support and that of our aggressors. We are not soldiers and it is high time that the Republic remembers this...-As well as the Order, itself.". What had been meant to be a straight forward session in practice was quickly turning to become a debate over the moral use of the Force, unavoidable in that Veiere could not hope to teach someone that wished and intended to use their skills for the killing and taking of life. These were such standards that had befallen the Jedi Order, such things that echoed the travesty behind the shared teaching of those that truly did not understand the way of the Jedi Path nor followed in the light.

"Peace is not lost on the Galaxy if only people are capable of looking for it, but to enter conflict or war with no other motivation but to kill, that is the tragedy of hopelessness and will contribute nothing to the pursuit of the betterment of galactic society, nor by the will of the Force" He responded again, this time into her notion that peace had failed the galaxy. It was so much the other way around, the galaxy had failed to find peace in itself and with every spiteful action and inaction of the people, nothing was going to change. To learn the aspect of control, to harness all that was the Force in her ever present potential, Veiere could teach these things; yet remained unconvinced that his teachings and those of the Jedi Order would be used for the greater good. That being the safe keeping of all life, not simply the pursuit of the Galactic Republic whose politics led the way for young men and women to die for a sentient perspective of right and wrong, good and bad. Concepts that mattered little in the face of the Force itself, as at the end of the day, right and wrong was naught but a difference of opinion between men.

"I am sorry, but I cannot abide by teaching someone who I know will go out of their way to use these abilities to add to the casualties of war and conflict. That I would contribute to the slaughter of men and women, this I cannot and will not allow; The instructors were wrong to refer you to me and again, I apologize for wasting your time. I shall have a stern word with them...".

She was listening to him and bowed her head in understanding of his view before she was rising up with a look at the door and clasped her hands behind her back. Walking over to meet the old man at the door. "Very well then." She remained with many of the things remaining over one or two fo the things. "So that was all that was needed?" The man spoke and she walked with him offering a small smile. "Yes but I am not worried, he is an idealist much like the other jedi who return to the order. Ben Watts was like that with wanting to stop the sith as an army of light away from the republic, Darron Wraith of like that wanting to take the jedi out of the republic and have them serve every government in the galaxy, Je'gan wanted your order to be isolationists that hunted down the darksiders remember that?" She stayed with it while going over a few of the things. "Selena took the battle to the sith themselves and worked to crumble their empire into the dust, Joshua barely got a chance to try before Kiskla overthrew him to play politics and popularity. Corvus wanted the jedi to protect the galaxy and worked hard to get them rebuilt and fix many things with other bridges that had been burned across the galaxy, Mantic wanted the militaristic order that served the light and now we have you Mako who works with the Republic." Ayumi walked with hi as he was escorting her back to the ship. "It will be alright, we have talented jedi masters who can teach you the control needed to not slip and endanger yourself against the darkside. My jedi should always seek to educate and protect those who don't serve the order so they do not become corrupted."

Standing up as Ayumi Pallopides did, he shifted his hands to the inside of his loose baggy sleeves, the brown Jedi robe that draped over his form and dragged some upon the ground behind his feet as he walked her to the door. Though she did not say her farewells, he dipped his head respectfully and waited until she and her companion had moved out of sight before his shoulders fell and he exhaled in sighing fashion, "Naturally the first private student of mine couldn't be a straight forward and easy one..." He remarked under his breath; it was discouraging in that it only echoed his concern for the state of the Jedi Order within the Republic, yet also a rumored factor in both the Silver Sanctum Coalition as well as the Jedi Academy that taught and supported members of the Galactic Alliance, though the latter of the three he had yet to see for himself.

The premature end to their session together had however free'd up some time and Veiere being the sort of man that he was, sought to look to the positive side of the situation; thinking that he might move to spectate and advise some of the younger students within the Temple of Yutan as they trained in their respective fields, he soon left the classroom much in the state he had found it and would quietly and patiently await his next scheduled meeting.
