DESCRIPTION

STAR (Stellar Tactical Aid Rescue) isn't your normal, everyday kind of medical corporation. In the present it isn't even considered a corporation anymore. Being founded several years prior, STAR started off as a humble and simple emergency medical service on the neutral planet of Nar Shaddaa. With a simply subscription based service. However, the criminal world made it difficult to operate. So the extreme climate conditioned and extreme service. Not long after it was standard for paramedical personnel to equip themselves with military hardware and conducted their operations in a more militant manner. Seeing their duties through to the end no matter the hardships.

Although seen as a very extreme and harsh company to get a service from, many of the companies clients viewed it as a necessary evil to ensure their protection from the dangers of a more villainous galaxy. However, while walking the fine line between a credits focused company and being the provider of a noble service for society, within the Confederacy of Independent Systems, STAR was able to fall under the identity of a nonprofit organization, even though a Not-For-Profit organization would be a more accurate classification, and it still has its subscription based service. This better allowed for drastically lowered taxes on the company, as well as being able to work closer with the interstellar government as a more neutral provider of humanitarian aid on their missions to other planets. Even though the core function and manner in which the company's employees and members go about it has stayed extreme. However, STAR is not 100% loyal or bound to the CIS and is free turn down its contracts at anytime.

Another benefit to being under the identity of a nonprofit organization is a greater legal protection under Good Samaritan laws can keep the organizations members (no longer considered employees) under greater legal protection. This is important considering the company has face off against many angered individuals who have claimed to have been negatively effected by STAR personnel. Stating that the way they conduct themselves is far too extreme for being a medical and humanitarian service. Many seeing their label as a nonprofit as just a weak disguise in pursuit of tax evasion.

However, it isn't as easy to make money when you're a nonprofit organization. So STAR needs to take a more indirect for of income to stratify their members. Donations are far and few since no very many people want to give money to such a harsh organization. One of them being from medical companies. Since the organization provides more of a service then goods. Medical companies have gifted the organization large surpluses of their medical products and tech which the companies member use frequently in operations. This is because the organization members while on operations could be seen as walking advertisements for company products in showcasing how well they work. But not even medical companies are alone in this act, some arms manufacturers are as well. Since STAR members are often deployed with small arms. So these companies act as STAR's largest donors, and in return they get to showcase their products and corporate clients are given more special subscription offers and services. Like family plans and higher prioritization.

RATIONALE
The company was originally founded by two individuals, a human male and twi'lek male on the hostile planet of Nar Shaddaa who originally made the company as a way to aid the planet's citizens. However, after transitioning to a nonprofit they ended loosing much more authority of the company they were later removed from their leadership positions. This was do to the conflict of interest between the more well meaning founders and bored of directors, who cared more for profits and their own standing in the organization. After the transition from for-profit to "nonprofit" STaCLO had become of a member of STAR's administrative team and quickly rose through the ranks given his clever ideas and leadership. Eventually becoming chairmen as the bored found it in its best interest to have a more pragmatic individual leading the organization who can also pave the way for further expansion.
