Discussion State of Crime in the Galaxy?

Hey all,

I was curious what kind of criminal characters and underworld activity we currently have floating around in the galaxy. After the Black Sun Syndicate basically vanished, this character spiraled a bit, and I originally built the underworld minor faction as more of a sandbox because I wasn't sure what the criminal landscape was going to look like moving forward.

So what's the state of the galaxy's criminal scene right now? Do we have active crime-focused players looking for plots? Is everyone enjoying the decentralized "small crews and independent operators" vibe, or is there interest in larger organizations/cartels forming again?

Also, would anyone care if I pushed Kinley further into the crime world and declared her something ridiculous like a spice queen or a higher leader in Black Sun or something?

Mostly just trying to get a feel for what everyone's doing so I can avoid stepping on toes and hopefully find some connections/story hooks.

You don't need to be a major faction to function. You can still roll with the premise of the black sun especially since its a canon organization. Write your own narrative and story and bring others to do the crazy fun stuff.

You don't need to ask permission to write something that is canon in the universe. You do you boo.

Insofar as Rel is concerned I've been writing that he's consolidated a lot of influence in the Black Sun now that the organization has withdrawn from the galactic scale. He controls a sizeable fleet in the Black Sun responsible for piracy and activities such as the extortion of planetary governments outside of major faction influence spheres for protection, etc. I basically play Black Sun as not having the infrastructure they needed to maintain operations on such a visible galactic scale but still continuing to do the same on a lower key after a leadership turnover.

That’s basically what I’ve been doing too is just saying they retreated into the shadows and are not as centralized but are still a fierce network in the galaxy.
