Starwind Homecoming [Silver Jedi Mission]

Tatooine

Reports had run rampant that on the desolate, out of the way world, Tatooine, moisture farmers had been disappearing left and right, only to turn up dead in the process. While Tatooine was not under the protection of the Silver Jedi, the Jedi, regardless of faction, were still responsible for the safety of the galaxy and it's people - and keeping the peace. Josh had volunteered for the mission, taking his Padawans [member="Dusaro Dresari"] and [member="Douglas Starwind"] with him. With the two having obtained their lightsabers, Josh knew that they would now be better able to aid him.

He also wanted Starwind here due to his knowledge of the planet. While Josh had been here for some time, during a troubling period of his life, he did not have the knowledge of the planet that Starwind did. Having been a moisture farmer himself, he hoped that perhaps Doug could provide great insight...

On the way to the mission, Josh had informed Doug and Dusaro that he had spoken to the rest of the Silver Assembly, and had agreed that this mission would be primarily undertaken by the two Padawans. Josh would stay with them and assist if need be, but this mission would be a test of what they had learned thus far...

The Final Dragon would dock in the space station on Mos Espa, and Josh would motion for the two Padawans to take the lead...

Four long years had passed since Douglas Starwind left Tatooine and his family behind. In the time he was gone, he had been hearing sporadic reports of the troubling occurrences going on at the planet. Due to his duties as a Jedi, he had been rather occupied and could not really act upon what he had been hearing. He had not liked what he was hearing to put it lightly and it had started to eat away at him. He was concerned about his parents, but he had to keep a calm mind. He had occasionally managed to send messages their way, but things had begun to slow down due to recent events. His parents were not disappointed in the path he had chosen and he lived a life with more responsibilities than ever before.

Recently, he had been informed of some worrying reports regarding moisture farmers on the giant desert ball. They were disappearing and winding up dead... This certainly left a horrified image in his mind. Years before, he went on a near-death mission just trying to get his parents away from slavers... And now they might be gone. Gone like the frequent sandstorms that plagued the planet. Unlike before, he didn't have much in the way of leads either. All he had to go off of was the situation. To say he was unnerved was an understatement. Not only did he now have these worries in mind, it was on him to actually figure out what was going on. Josh had entrusted such a task to him and Dusaro. At least he would have some company... He really needed it right now.

Doug's mindset remained unsettled, but despite this, he had a bit of an idea of the way things worked on Tatooine so his presence was seen as a necessity for such a mission. Even if his presence wasn't needed, the fact that it was his home planet and that his family was in danger once again would've made him insistent on going. The trip to the planet felt like an eternity and he was shaking almost the whole time. Eventually, the trio had landed on the planet in Josh's personal ship at Mos Espa, one of the livelier looking parts of the planet and a space port. He had visited here infrequently when he was younger as it was close to the moisture farm his parents owned and it was where he had occasionally undertaken the dangerous sport of podracing for some extra money... It brought back memories.

Doug stepped down onto the planet's surface from the Final Dragon and took in a deep breath. Yep, the air was still as arid as he remembered it being. He had been having visions of the planet in the past, but they were relatively peaceful ones. He never thought he'd be coming back under such... Dire circumstances. His eyes darted around the space port and he pondered over what their first task would be for this mission of sorts.

"Hm... Okay. My family's moisture farm wasn't too far from this place. We should check it out and see if everything's okay. Maybe my parents could tell us anything they might know what's going on here if... If they're still okay... If things aren't... Then maybe..." Doug spoke, his voice sounding a bit colder than his usual soft spoken tone, but with a clear air of concern to it. His voice began to choke at the thought of his parents being hurt again. His hands were shaking a little, but he clenched his fists to try and keep it down. He had to try and keep a clear mind or he would be no help. "... We'll find some clues." He finally managed to finish his thought process.

Dusaro's mindset and attitude was calm going into this mission. It was not just because he was used to this sort of feeling and dealing with it, or that he knew Tattooine well and wasn't worried about the trip. All of those were factors to varying degrees sure, but more importantly was that Dusaro had to stay calm and level headed for a certain other person. That other person was his fellow Padawan Douglas. He was in a bit of a bad spot Dus knew, his family lived on the dustball of a planet and with everything going on, he couldn't help but blame him for worrying. Dusaro himself was worried about the situation for his friend, but he knew full well they couldn't do anything til they got there so he kept a lid on that and just kept to being his normal relaxed, lazed back self.

As the ship touched down and both he and Doug stepped out, Dus rolled his shoulders to shift the small pack across his back with some essentials, mostly food, credits, clothes and the like. Simple essentials more or less. Looking around the port he listend as Douglas spoke, nodding in agreement. IT sounded like a plan to him and getting his family 'out of the way' as it were and confirming their status would be good for his state of mind. Or bad, if things were bad.. "Aye, sounds good to me. No matter the situation we will find the ones behind this, but in the mean time lets check up on your family. I will let you lead the way for that part though, only place of Tattooine i am paticularly familiar with are the cities so, outside of them i won't be of much help."

Doug was nervous. He did not hide that at all. This was to be expected, of course... He was going back to his homeworld for the first time in almost four years. And this talk of moisture farmers disappearing and then turning up dead... He wasn't surprised at all that Doug was going to be feeling the heat from that. Josh had lost family, over and over again... He knew the feeling all too well, and he hoped, deep down, that Doug would not have to suffer the same pain that he had. It would be a shame if he had, and Josh would do his best to help him, but... It'd be better if he didn't have to suffer. Especially this early on. Mental instability wasn't good for a Jedi.

He knew that personally.

Doug seemed to figure out an idea to contact his parents and see if they had any information on the missing people. Nodding his head, Josh would walk behind the two Padawans, listening to them converse.

"I'll rent us a speeder" Josh would respond as he would walk off, leaving Doug and Dusaro to continue to plan.

Doug nodded at Josh's idea to rent a speeder. "Good. I can direct us there if needed once we have one..." While his family's farm wasn't too far away from Mos Espa, he knew that they had to get there quickly. Time was of the essence in a situation like this. Doug then looked back towards Dusaro as he spoke. He definitely still looked a bit more at ease, which was understandable. Nothing was too troubling for his fellow Padawan and friend at the moment. "Yeah... If anyone could give us some more information in a safe matter on this, it... It would be my parents... They... Generally had a sort of awareness of things..." Doug said in a quiet voice. His hands lightly rested on his sides as he looked down at the ground, his foot beginning to lightly tap as he waited. He usually wasn't the impatient type, but his worried mindset was definitely amplifying such feelings.

He began to muse over what the group would do once they got to the moisture farm his parents owned. What would be their plan once they had more clues? They didn't have much to work with at the moment. If it was moisture farmers specifically, they must've had something that the perpetrators wanted. Given that many were winding up dead, it likely wasn't another case related to slavers. It didn't quite make sense to him, but he needed to find a possible reason to connect these events together. The only thing he could think of would be vaporators, the devices that were used to actually collect the moisture in the air to condense it into usable water. Perhaps these criminals needed the parts from them for something. He didn't have any confirmation, but he did at least have a hypothesis of sorts.

"... Once we get there and get any extra information and ensuring the status of my parents... We should check to be sure if a vaporator is still around... Devices used for moisture farming. They're very tall so... It would be hard to miss one if it's still there... I might have an idea for what's motivating our enemies... We can clue in our Master on this as well." He spoke regarding his thoughts. He was talking more, but his tone of voice remained almost deadpan and serious.

"Always good when your folks are keeping an eye out on the situation, mine did the same. Though, well, they were Mercs so they always had an eye on things." Dusaro said with a light chuckle, shrugging a bit. "You can just lead the way there, probably for the best. I know the towns a bit but that is it really." Dus addmitted, not having really ventured out past them or needed to in the few times he had been to the dustball, so letting Doug take the lead on this one would be the for the best. He had a better gague on the kinds of people and why they do things here having grown up here, where as Dusaro was literally a spacer, living out of his ship completly.

"Hmm... The moisture vaputorators is it? On a planet like this i can see why someone would go after them yeah, sounds like a good thought process to kick this investigation off with. Did any of the names of people who had been found line up as being moisture farmers, or do you know? If not i can try and pull up some connections and find out." Dusaro offerd, figuring that line of thought even if it was wrong could still manage to lead them somewhere. He noticed the rather 'steely' tone his fellow Padawan was putting on but he was not botherd by it. That was good if anything, his mind was set and in the game. As long as he made sure he didn't get so tensed up that he locked up in a critical moment, it would be fine.

While the Padawans chattered amongst themselves and made a plan, Josh would head off to secure a speeder for them to make their way toward the moisture farms. He hoped for the best, he did... He could sense Doug's worry for his parents, and he couldn't blame him one bit. In his shoes, he would be worried for his loved ones as well. Josh would quickly have a speeder rented, and would assign for it to be prepped for standby for them soon. With that, he would head back.

He would arrive at the tail end of their conversation, and then spoke.

"It's going to take a little bit for the speeder to be prepared and brought on standby for us. I suggest taking advantage of where we are for now and journeying to the cantina here" He would suggest. "Hopefully we can find ourselves some information, before we head out. It's worth a shot anyway, and I knew one of their bartenders for some time. He and I are tight, he might be able to provide us some intel" He would remark.

"You two okay with that, then?"

[member="Dusaro Dresari"] - [member="Douglas Starwind"]

Doug listened as Dusaro spoke regarding a plan that Doug began to ponder over. "Well, regarding the names of the people found... From what we were given, they were moisture farmers. Although if you have a way to get more information on them, that... Could be helpful in theory." Doug spoke. He knew his voice sounded a bit flat, but he was trying to keep himself focused. His mind was a bit messy, but he still was keeping it together so far.

Doug glanced over as Josh returned. It... Turned out they would have to wait a bit for the speeder to get ready. Doug's expression seemed to sink a bit and his eyes shifted around, but he managed to get his expression back to a more neutral look. Josh actually had an idea in mind while they were stuck in Mos Espa for a bit. Apparently Josh knew someone that worked at the cantina and they could probably get some more clues on what's going on.

"Hm... If... We're gonna be stuck here for a bit, I suppose we might as well make the best of it." Doug replied to his Master in agreement to his idea.

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Dusaro Dresari"]

"I may or may not have a way to get more information on them. If this was two years ago it wouldn't be a question of 'if i can' but 'where is that bastard friend of mine at now'. I have kept up with most of my connections but a few have gone dark for... Reasons. I would have to check basically." That is something Dusaro had kept in touch with. Knowing who was paying for jobs where could be helpful as a Jedi, so he kept an ear out. He had done plenty of people good solids in his time as a merc so it came in handy often.

"Sounds good to me sir." Dusaro said as Josh came back, recalling how they had met in a cantina on this very planet, a wry smirk crossing his lips. "You recall what happend last time me and you were in a cantina though? Lets hope we have no sudden Herglics eh?" Dusaro commented with a broad smirk, wondering of Josh even rememberd what he was refrencing. It had been a long while after all.

[member="Douglas Starwind"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

Since they were stuck for a bit, they might as well get some information while they were there. Though he would find himself smirking when [member="Dusaro Dresari"] would remind them of the last time they had been there, and shook his head. "That bloated old whale was nothing but a bully" He would respond, rolling his eyes in turn. He hoped that Herglic had been lit up like a Christmas tree by now. Either way, he would lead the way, putting the hood of his robes over his head and motioning for the Padawans to do the same as they walked in...

Mos Espa, even years later, still seemed as dry and desolate as ever, despite the years since Josh had a chance to visit it's cantinas - aside from the time he'd tried to visit here before but had been interrupted rudely by a fat whale before he could get settled. It had been some time since Josh had paid a visit to a few old friends, but he had to pay a visit to the man who took care of him when he was stranded here with no memory.

Hiding his force presence, the man under a brown cloak and hood, along with his companions, would enter the Mos Espa Cantina and quickly take a seat at the bar, waiting to see which bartender had come around. They'd gotten more than one since he had been 18, getting free food and drink from the bartender in exchange for podracing stories. It was the only currency he could offer in exchange for the means to live. Not the most fair of trades to them, but Josh was grateful that they'd sunk money just for the sake of making sure he lived to go another day.

Of course, Tatooine was no stranger to all sorts of types... Bandits, Hutts, even Bounty Hunters. It had been years since his bounty had been cleared, of course. Without the Black Sun, his tab was clean.

The bartender would walk up, and noting the hood, would quirk a brow. "You know, usually it's just the shady characters who pop up with hoods and all that, you know" He would remark. A chuckle escaped the man in the hood as he would pull the hood down, revealing long blonde hair, and brimming brown eyes staring back at the man.

The bartender had to stare for a moment, squinting... And then he realized. It was hard to recognize him with that beard, after all. It made him look a fair bit older...

"Well I'll be damned..."

The bartender would begin to laugh, and slap the Jedi on the shoulder.

"Boy! How long has it been?"

"I'm going to say about a decade, friend. It's been a long road indeed."

The bartender was stunned, but the pure look of joy on his face was obvious.

"You've grown up. I can't believe it, you've grown up. But you're still the same kid who did all that racing so long ago."

Josh's eyes were lit up all the same, meeting an old friend... A man who'd been a father figure to him for so long when he had been stranded here... And he wouldn't be here if not for him.

"Things have changed since. Sorry I haven't had a chance to check in. Things have been busy."

"Oh, don't worry about it. We'll have a chance to catch up, though I'm sure you're probably in a rush, knowing you. So! What can I get-"

The bartender was interrupted by someone in a suit and mask tugging on his sleeve, prompting a glare from the bartender. "Hey, tall glass of some blue milk" the suited man had demanded.

"Hey! Can't you be sodding patient and see I'm-"

Josh smiled, shaking his head as he placed a hand on the bartender's shoulder.

"It's okay. I shouldn't have held you up. You can take my order after his, I don't mind. I don't want any special treatment" He spoke calmly, his smile bright.

The bartender would growl low as he would move to fix up the man's drink, as Josh would turn toward the masked stranger.

"What's your name, mate?"

"I go by Zander" the new man decided to say. Zander then added "Whose your friends over there?".

The bartender didn't seem to want to talk to him after he'd interrupted him, but had at least slid Zander the drink he had requested.

The Jedi, meanwhile, would nod his head at Zander's introduction.

"Josh" He responded. "Call me Josh."

Zander glanced over at the man in the hood. "Nice to meet you, whats with the hood?" He asked, pouring his blue milk into a canteen.

"Occupation of this planet is... Rather strict. Most people are smart enough to keep hooded" He would remark as he would place the hood back on his head and over his face. "If you're someone the governing body doesn't like? Well... They'll find an excuse" He remarked, smirking lightly in turn as he would look toward the bartender, who seemed to already know what drink he wanted and poured Josh his before sliding him it.

"So really, it's best to just take precautions. You never know who you've pissed off, after all..."

Letting out a yawn as he stretched out before taking a sip, he decided he might as well question the young man.

"So tell me... Heard any rumors about moisture farmers turning up missing as of late? Some of them have been turning up dead soon after being reported missing."

The young man would let out a sigh in turn as he would motion his two companions, who had been watching, to take a seat. They both were robed as well and hooded, their faces unable to be seen.

"Do not fear my companions, they will do you no harm. No strings attached, no "Give me the info or we beat you within an inch of your life" or anything like that, it just happens that one of them is a native here, and someone who... Studies under me, as an apprentice of sorts"

He would smile as he took a blaster from his belt, spinning it about between his fingers. It wasn't one he planned to actually use, it was merely there to blend in with. "Been teaching these boys to shoot for a few years. Been thinking of forming a mercenary trope" He would lie, calmly. "Been thinking..." He trailed off as he held a hand to the sky, motioning around as he worded the name. "The Sandrock Savages. Hmm, maybe something just as threatening, but not so... Primitive. I'll think on it a little more" He would remark, chuckling lightly. "But one of them, one of my boys here I mean... Well... He has a personal stake, the native. Has a family here. Moisture farmers. Doesn't feel comfortable leaving this rock to seek his fortune till we make sure the common laborers like his 'fam, are safe and sound and all that.

So if you had any information that might help us find them, we'd greatly appreciate it. We haven't been in town long, we've generally been operating out in the sands, little homestead we've got. Got a few neighbors, actually, who are moisture farmers. Kind of worried about seeing them go kaput too. So admittedly, word of their lot turning up dead has only recently reached our ears. But as you can see... It's kind of put a bit of a damper on our plans of scouring the galaxy for riches and action."

"I havent heard of any moister farmers going missing lately, honestly havent been here to long either" Spoke the new guy. He paused, then, with a big sigh he began:

"Although, I met a man on the way here who said he had a rather ... strange encounter. He said a man came up to him and asked him where the nearest ship dealer is. He simply said go west, but as the man was walking away he noticed something on his hands, he said it looked like blood, but, cant trust a lot of people around here."

He then glanced over at the mans companions, not knowing to trust them or not. It seemed as if Zander was calculating every move he made, every action he did, and everything he said.

"I suggest staying here until we know more about the situation"

Zander then took a look around the bar, he seemed to never be relaxed, something Josh picked up on quite quickly. Josh nodded his head in turn, letting out a sigh. It seemed he wasn't getting anywhere thus far. Though the man would then go on to say that he'd met someone who had met someone who had blood on his hands... That wasn't exactly useful, considering the nature of Tatooine, but a lead was a lead, he supposed.

The man wanted him to stay until they knew more, but Josh knew they couldn't wait long. At the least, the bartender would then step forward as he would pour Josh a refill before speaking. "I heard something about a group of armored man leaving the scene of a moisture farm, shortly before it's occupants were reported missing. It was one of the last of it's kind to happen, definitely recent. If you know of any moisture farmers in the area, that haven't been kidnapped before, I would suggest you start there."

Josh would growl low. It seemed that Doug's idea had been the better one after all. It had been worth a shot, but he let out a sigh. "I'm afraid we cannot stay then. It was good meeting you, sir. But it's best my companions and I get to work" He would remark as he would then turn and pay the bartender for both his drink and Zander's. "Consider this my thanks for the help, at least."

As he would rise to his feet, an armored man sitting at a corner table would begin to aim his blaster...

Josh's senses kicked in right then and there, just before the blaster was fired square at the back of his head. He held out a hand and the blaster bolt would stop in mid-air. The cantina had gone silent after the blast had been fired, and watched the blast stop in mid-air before looking toward Josh with a look of horror... The Jedi Master would snap his fingers and the blaster shot back. But the pause gave the new armored man a chance to dodge, though was caught in the side and injured. This new foe would quickly take off out of the cantina.

"I'm afraid we cannot stay, friend. Thank you very much for your information, and conversation" Josh spoke toward Zandar before nodding toward the bartender, disappointed their reunion had been cut short. He'd have to visit again before they left. "Starwind, Dresari, we're leaving!" He barked, back in serious Jedi Master mode, with a commander's, a leader's, strict and sharp tone behind it. "He must be one of them! We need to question him!"
