ADVANCED SYSTEMS

  • Internal Defense Management:

    Retractable Auto Blasters

  • Retractable Turadium Bulkheads

  • Retractable Turadium Blast Barriers, Trilamnium Coated.

  • Automated War Droid Emergency Deployment

  • Automated Anti-Concussion Field Emergency Deployment

  • Advanced Biometric Security Systems

  • Advanced Laser Grid, Emergency Deployment Only

  • Advanced Mass Sensor Grid

  • Extensive Security Camera and Motion Detection System

Strengths:

  • Resilient: Built with a number of highly resistant components, resistant to a variety of weapon types such as kinetic, plasma/blaster/turbolaser and ion/emp the Stargazer can withstand a number of heavy attacks. Coupled with a number of shield systems, power conversions, and capacitor systems the Stargazer is able to shift station power in the event of an emergency.

  • Defense: The station’s defenses are not just on the outside where a number of components layer on top of the other providing the station with the ability to tank. Internally the station is built with a number of defenses built to keep intruders at bay, while also giving aid to Legionnaires.
Weaknesses:

  • Sitting Duck: Built with an inert hyperdrive, the Stargazer is a sitting duck. Trapped where she sits as an orbital construct that renders herself a threat to the planet below.

  • Unstable Reactor: Utilizing a proof of concept prototype, Gravstar+ Reactor, the Stargazer is at the reactor’s mercy. Should the reactor become unstable it most likely would not matter how fast the fail-safe and disengagement systems were - the station and its occupants would be gone.

  • Overheating: A number of the systems installed or built into the Stargazer have a heating issue or require a timed cooldown. This allows those attacking the station, time and opportunity to regroup and find holes within the station’s armor. Whether that’s weaving through firing arcs, getting out of range or dashing around the blaze of weapons.
Description:

Developed as a testbed of new components, the Stargazer-class Scientific Research Station was created in a small capacity. Each station was prefabricated at shipyards throughout the Sith Empire before the assembly at their designated sites. The idea is to test the materials in different circumstances with different external and even internal stressors.

When creating the station the first thing that came to mind for Lord Admiral Raaf was defense. The Battle of Hoth and Bespin seemed to scream at the forefront of her mind. Memories of the Kuragin and the disaster at Anoat during the Galactic Alliance’s invasion created the structural integrity of the Stargazers. Tekonite being the primary ablative hull coating, a one-time use material that can absorb up to 92% of kinetic impacts, leaving the Phrik reinforced Intrepid Ablative Armor, another one-time-use kinetic defense to absorb anything left over.

Trilamnium Reinforced Crystalamnium gives the station’s hull the ability to withstand and endure prolonged turbolaser and kinetic damage as each one presents a high rating against the two types of damage. Alusteel reinforced Durasteel frame, a basic hull frame as they come. Crystaplast is featured for the first time in such a large structure, and it serves as the Stargazer’s primary liner. This is backed up by Reinforced Duraplast which gives the scientific station protection against ion and emp weaponry.
To this extent, Durasilk Thermafoam works as the secondary liner with Durafoam and Myogel working overtime. These two particular components are in addition the materials already present in the compound already. This is to ensure that in the event of a breach the station’s inhabitants would be protected from the vacuum.

Key or Critical components of the station have additional armor, including the Archer Reactive Plating System a hull polarization system that absorbs plasmatic energy. Agrinium and Dallorian alloys are also added to these components underneath the reactive plating system to further serve the goal of defense.

Internally the station boasts Tungstoid blast doors and Turadium blast shields. It also bears a two-layer ‘window’ system, with Solarium Glasteel being placed over Glasteel they can both be shielded by turadium blast shutters. All that aside the most important piece of defense may very well be the Phrik reinforced Impervium reactor plating that surrounds the Gravastar+ Reactor. Emergency internal defenses come in the form of; retractable Turadium bulkheads, blast barriers are also included each of these are coated in trilamnium to give an added measure of defense. Auto blasters are also retractable, the station also has a series of war droids and has an automated anti-concussion field, lastly advanced laser grids are also deployed in the event of an emergency. Biometric security systems, motion detection, and extensive security cameras are also used. In conjunction, advanced mass sensors are used - a computer algorithm determines the average mass in motion per day. During emergencies, this can be used to determine where people need help the most, or where enemies may lurk.

When the basic of defenses had been reassured it was time to focus on Electronic Warfare, an advanced suite was put into place utilizing a number of jammers and sensors. Jammers and sensors cover both long range and close range targets, sensor ranges can be extended with beacons or buoys. However, those extensions would be done as separate additions to the station and not part of the station standard. The Stargazer does boast a number of sensors, and sensor suites which lend themselves to the station’s classification of science.

Advanced sensor systems include a number of anti-stealth technologies, including the basic ion emissions tracer to the more advanced tachyon particle grid and cronau radiation amplifier. While the station’s primary role may be more mundane in nature. The secondary roles are up to the Armada to determine and change when necessary thusly the station must be ready to serve in nearly any capacity.

Lastly, due to the never-ending galaxy-at-war state, the Stargazer has been built with interdiction abilities. These abilities enable the station to play an important role should they be present in the system during an invasion.

Outside of these features, the science station works to support the Sith-Imperial Military as well as its civilians. Aiding in not just research but trade and commerce, shipwright facilities help keep ships maintained and overall hyperlane traffic monitored. Overall the Stargazer project completed with the production of ten stations with their locations yet to be determined.
