Strengths:

  • Highly advanced sensors – Able to detect most ships with great accuracy, and able to keep up with a high numbers of ships at great distances without missing a beat.

  • Able to detect stealthed ships – Due to its unique properties, the scanners can detect most stealthed ships, when they are within a fairly close range.
Weaknesses:

  • Short range Anti-Stealth – The Anti-stealth functions are only viable at relatively short ranges for space battles.

  • Anti-Stealth is more a general idea: The Anti-Stealth function tends to give more a general area of the location, rather than pin point precision like it can for an unstealthed ship.

  • Crowded Skies: The more crowded the battle field around the ship, the closer the stealthed ships have to be before being detected.

DESCRIPTION
The sensor system, is a highly advanced piece of technology. It takes a large number of types of sensors, and places them into a single package, connected to highly advanced programs and droid brains, to give pin point accuracy. However, perhaps the most advanced part of the sensors is the anti-stealth suite.

This suite makes use of the large number of sensitive sensor types it uses, to make a map of the space that surrounds the ship. Even the slightest of changes are noticed and kept track of. This means, when spaces of ever so slightly distorted gravity, magnetism, comm signals, and the like come into view, it begins to pick up on the idea there is something there. It then focuses it's sensors more heavily on that spot, to attempt to pick it out. However, for most types of stealth ships, it simply won't be able to pick out exactly where the stealth ship it. It will alert users to the fact there is one, and its general location. However, to attack the ship, the ship would have to use wide spread attacks over an area.

Crystal Gravfield Trap

Just a heads up, but at the moment, we limit Crystal Gravfield Traps to semi-unique and unique ships. From the Starship section of the Factory Rules:

  • Particularly rare or powerful special features may necessitate using a lower production (for example, cloaking technology, gemcutters, crystal grav traps, equivalent stealth or anti stealth technologies, or rare canon technologies and their equivalents will only be permitted at Semi-Unique production)

So while this sub technically isn't breaking any rules right now, a future ship design that uses it may be. I'll leave it up to you how you want to handle that.
