Stand Up and Face the Sun (Siobhan)

Tegaea Alcori

“The Empire?” Tegaea asked, puzzled. The first thought which inevitably came to mind was ‘Sith Empire’, but since her wife responded homicidally to anyone connected to that regime even tangentially, it didn’t make sense. It was then another thought came to her which explained matters.

“Ah, the Atrisian Empire,” she said, nodding. That made sense. Their grand claims to be the ‘Galactic Empire’ had been entirely laughable, and now they had collapsed.

“Well, as it turns out, we do need someone to collate intelligence, leads and sources. I am no expert, and nor are any of my staff, so I would appreciate your assistance there. It may also prevent any further instances of infiltrators trying to sneak in on us as well.”

Sith seemed to have a fixation on trying to sneak in after all.

"Their Emperor recently got assassinated and the new empress initiated a purge to wipe out all force-users on the planet," Siobhan spoke up helpfully. Which, among other things, meant that plenty of people had been slaughtered and Siobhan would never get a statue for that one time when she had saved the planet.

Well, some other people had helped as well, but she was vain that way! "Our old friend Moira Skaldi organised it," she exchanged a look with her wife, her expression darkening. "Should have killed the queen when the Rebel Alliance disbanded. In any event, my wife's right. Intelligence is a field where we could really use someone of talent - who isn't a genocidal kill-bot. You've probably heard about the...attempt on my wife's life when she was Protector."

Well, Mirien would have heard since it was big on the news and Moira had been dispassionately gleeful in her profile of Siobhan about it. For a brief moment Siobhan looked pained before she shook it off. "And it appears that Jedi have been turning traitor at the drop of a hat and Sith spies turn up everywhere, so we would appreciate capable assistance there." Since technically this is a past thread Siobhan would not know how true her words were regarding Moira.

Mirien seemed a bit surprised by the response, figuring her past work made her more trouble than she was worth. "Yeah, the Emperor was the only one I trusted, his cousin, wasn't as considerate to us force users." She sighed heavily, "Was a mess in the end, lucky to walk away with my head."

Her eyes narrowed upon hearing the name again, "That queen, yeah, should've killed her when I had the chance. Knew she'd be trouble eventually." She had her suspicions of that being well before all hell broke loose. She reached up, felt of her neck and glanced back to the party after she was certain that she still had a pulse. "Yep, still alive, so I'm certain a kill bot I am not. That and I'm told I still have feelings." Somewhat trying to lighten the mood.

She nodded slowly, "Heard about that mess, my sympathies to you both." Reaching up she pinched at the bridge of her nose, "Yes, the Jedi all falling to the darkside in droves, quite pathetic if you ask me."

For a moment she grew quiet, being back in intel would have it's downsides, but it was good work, and something she already knew well. "I'll gladly offer help in both areas. It's something I know, and have managed in the past. Plus I'm certain a few of my assets may still be of use even now."

She paused, another thought crossed her mind, "I know, that trust and faith will come in time. But in order to guard against threats near and far, any dirty laundry that exists I'll eventually need to be made aware of." The expression she held, was one that clearly showed her distaste in having to even mention the subject at all. "It's part of my job to know as well as safeguard secrets. At least it was that way."

Tegaea watched Mirien, occasionally looking to Siobhan. She figured her wife knew what she was doing and that they could trust Mirien. However, she decided to make a light overture into the airing of secrets.
"Very well, Mirien, here is some dirty laundry to air." She proceded to describe some of the more...raunchy secrets of the pair and the villa they were in, along with certain tidbits about her employees and staff being rather more than they appeared!
PG-13 ratings and the omnipresent kiddies prevents this writer describing the more amusing details. She did not mention anything about Chesna or Eyrecae, nor the whole thing about the Eldorai being slave soldiers of the Rakata. That was a secret less than half a dozen people knew, and Mirien was not at that level yet.

When she was finished she sat back to gauge the reaction she had gotten. This might well be rather amusing, especially if Siobhan chimed in with her usual timing to elaborate. Siobhan knew what she couldn't say, and would take great delight in what she could.

Siobhan looked very, very amused as Mirien learned that her employers might just be a tad obsessed with non-PG-13 things. Alright, perhaps more than just a tad, certainly in Siobhan's case. She might have been rather lascivious when she swallowed a berry, licking her lips before helping herself to a sip of wine.

"Have I already mentioned how cute that blush on your face is, Mirien?" she asked in her sweetest tone. "We're not...forcing any of our preferences on you...but you'd be very welcome to participate if you like. As you can imagine, our rather active social life means there's plenty of people whose comings and goings need to be carefully checked and vetted. Deep infiltration and all that."

'Comings and 'goings', she was not using lame innuendo at all! "I'll show you around our command ship, the Ardarvia later. Named after the Eldorai Goddess of Law, Justice and...discipline. It has some rather interesting modules."

Mirien blinked, and for a moment that was all she could do as a bright red hue spread across her cheeks. "I ... Um... Er... Uh.... Yeah, isn't that just something." Not entirely sure how to respond to that at all.

If it was possible, when Siobhan mentioned her color, Mirien turned an even brighter shade of crimson. "No, never mentioned it." She spoke quickly, trying to figure out where she was going exactly with this. to go with this exactly.

"As for your extracurricular activities, it's not so far off from my own personal choices for pleasure." She then nodded slowly, "Yes, I'd imagine that'd be fairly accurate. A large task, no doubt but I'm sure I'll manage."

"Modules, eh?" Her curiosity peaking at those words, wondering what fun exactly laid in store for her.

"Yes, very fun ones," Siobhan grinned greedily and leaned over to Tegs, running a hand over her back before she gave her wife a deep, loving kiss. "She's so cute, isn't she? And pretty," she purred. Then without warning she bent forward and pulled Mirien into a kiss, stroking her hair while she did so.

"And delicious. This is gonna be a great friendship. I think you two should kiss. Tegs is an amazing kisser," there was a mischievous twinkle in her organic eye, her voice betraying a high amount of eagerness at the possibility of the two ladies making out in front of her. After all, kissing was allowed! It would not hurt the poor innocent minds of the kiddies. Depicting slaughter and mind rape would not harm them either.

Tegaea could see this business meeting becoming a 'business' meeting. She gave her wife a look and tried to get things back on track.
"Ladies, there will be plenty of time for modules later," she said sternly. "First, the deal must be made."

"Now, do we have a deal, Mirien? I think this remuneration package will be quite generous," she said, producing a contract an miscellaneous documents from her bag and offering it to her guest.

Siobhan looked equal parts turned on and sulky when Mistress Valora cracked the whip. Of course it was her wife who wore the pants in the family.

"Yes, love. Business first," she said a bit meekly, pouting slightly.

Well that was one way to make Mirien get quiet, and fast. The surprise of the kiss, quite visible as Siobhan pulled away. "Y... I...." Then silence. no coherent thought was forming for the brunette.

Tegs spoke, and quickly drew Miri's attention back to the much more kiddie friendly subject of business. Not the crochet kind of 'business'. "Right, deal... Yes." Reaching out she took the contract in hand, and skimmed over it rather quickly. "More than generous." She said, still reading through the last bit of it. "I believe it will be quite the pleasure to work with you both." A smile forming upon her lips, and she removed a pen from her pocket, signing her name to the documents.

Crochet was an important and noble activity that was most pleasing to the Great Goddess Ardarvia. Ergo it was something that had to be pursued often and with great frequency.

"We also have good dental and get let into all the good clubs," Siobhan joked as she retrieved the contract and handed it back to Tegaea. For the record, there was nothing too arduous contained it. Mirien would not have to sacrifice her firstborn or something cliched like that. Whether she had to sell her soul was another question entirely, but then those were available for a discount at all good void stores.

"Welcome to the team, Mirien. Glad to have you with us. We'll organise an apartment for you soon," she said with genuine warmth. Most Firemane employees resided in the Visitors' Quarter, which was an euphemism for what essentially was a sealed off quarter for the foreign residents on the planet. It had recently been expanded by order of the Queen, against opposition from the conservative caucus on the Council. Since Firemane was a valued partner of the Eldorai - well, or at least one who was grudgingly accepted as necessary - its employees would obviously get good apartments.

Tegaea took the signed contract, scanned it over and smiled. "Welcome to the team, Mirien. I'll have my assistant sort you out with codes and any other details you need. You can start work tomorrow. We'll run over your exact duties then. Until then...did you have anything you wanted to do? Sightseeing? Talk with us? Perhaps we could introduce you to the wonders of the Goddess Ardarvia...."
She smiled innocently.

"Thank you, both." She said with a bright smile. "I'll do you both proud, I promise." Maybe this would be the day the former Ice Queen would melt, just a little bit.

"You know," Mirien started, "An introduction, only seems appropriate, don't you think?" Winking to both ladies. "One does have to start somewhere."

Siobhan grinned very broadly, then got up. She liked to think that she was good at defrosting! "I promise you will not be disappointed. The Great Goddess has...such wonderful things to offer," she said weetly as she arose and gave Mirien a soft kiss before taking her by the arm.

"And I'm not normally the religious type," she winked to her wife and took her hand. "Come on, love. Let's show our guest the sacred altar."

Tegaea rose from the table, looking very regal and graceful. It was effortless for her to change from Tegaea to Mistress Valora because the two very very much one and the same. There was no acting needed.

"Come this way, Mirien. I am sure you will find it most...invigorating."

Unfortunately, dear reader, a dark curtain descends now, blocking out the crochet lessons taught by the Goddess Ardarvia. So mystical and secret are these crochet lessons that mere children cannot contemplate their full majesty.

Thus, we shall cut to a scene later where for reasons not entirely known, the three of them happened to be waking up in the same bed. As it was summer and airconditioning could be prohibitively expensive, thus necessitating the fact they were wearing less than the fill amount of clothing. It was all tastefully concealed under a sheet though, so no children will be harmed in the making of this post!

As dawn flicked its fingers of light through the window, Tegaea awoke with her wife and new friend beside her. It had indeed been a good morning, and one would assume that things could only get better now Mirien Valdier was employed.
