Stalking her prey

Sha'so

Looking for freedom...
Sha'do smiled sadly and took the datapad, typing lazily as she remained curled up against him. 'There's nothing like this on city-worlds like Nar Shadda. And I was a slave, my Master never allowed me to go to the districts that had parks.' She handed the datapad back to him and looked to him for a reaction, worried that she would be pitied as she had been before. She hated pity.

Felis placed a hand on her side with a bit of a chuckle. "Seems to have w-worked out for you pretty well. You escape by yourself?" He asked, he had eventually gone from just laying his had on her, to actually being curled around her. He was mildly amused by the thought of them, looking just like two kittens. He pushed the datapad closer to her so she could type.

'I had a little help,' she typed with a small smile. 'Soldiers stormed my Master's compound to get intel. I decided to help them instead of killing them. they got me out of there, brought me here.' As they curled up together, a small purring chirp escaped her and she nuzzled against him. She felt safe with her new friend, but somehow she had the feeling that she was helping him just as much. She hoped so. He seemed so afraid at first... She looked up at him, reaching up to brush her fingers against his respirator, the question clear in her eyes.

"I-I don't normally talk about it... I was burned, real bad. Chemical fire, the med guys did their best. It wasn't enough obviously..." His voice faltered and he reached a hand to wipe his now watering eyes. "I miss those guys... They did way more than they had to... Just to get me breathing again." After that he fell silent and covered his face with a hand. "Why couldn't I have warned more of them." He continually muttered between breaths.

Sha'do put an arm around him, but she could tell it was not enough. He was haunted by what happened, and that was something she could understand all too well. She wanted to tell him it was alright, but she knew it wasn't; she wanted to tell him that things would get better, but she had no idea if they would; she wanted to tell him something, anything, to give him comfort, but she couldn't speak; all she had was a datapad that he probably couldn't read now that he was crying. All she could do was hold him tenderly as he cried. If he needed to cry, then he could cry and she would not judge. How many tears had she shed in the middle of the night when no one was looking? Their pain may not have been the same, but even still she understood it, and she was there for him.

Felis sniffled one last time and just layed there for a moment. "Th-Thanks for not... You know." He signed and attempted to find a comfortable spot on the ground. He had moved quite a bit since he had started crying. Eventually he founds a spot, shaded, a bit lower than the usual ground. He gestured for Sha'do to lay by him. "Well cmon, I was hoping to get some sleep today."

Sha'do didn't know what he meant, but it didn't matter. Whatever it was she didn't do turned out to be good, so she smiled and nodded. As he moved about and got comfortable, Sha'do practically pounced on him, curling up against him with a playful little growl that quickly turned to a purr once she finally settled down. Then with a jaw-popping yawn that revealed to him why she was mute, she closed her eyes and tucked in for her catnap.

Another passing day, this one had at least been a good one. A new friend, someone he could trust. Who knows, maybe this was all he really needed. He had been letting things get to him lately, at least now he would have someone to grumble with. Not against. After a time had past, Felis finally slipped into blissful unconsciousness. Somehow he could tell, there would be no nightmares today. "'Night..." He murmured, and for once he meant it.
