Intent: To create a jetpack for modularity with the ST-Line EVA suits and personal use.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: The Sitra Trade Group
Model: ST-UVAK ‘Survival Collection’
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity:
  • The ST-UVAK is designed as a module piece for the Sitra Trade Groups survival lines. It has no additional modality purposes.
Production: Mass-Produced.
Material: Various hard components. These include:
  • Durasteel Casing
  • High Density Fuel Tubing
  • Chemically Treated Nylon
  • Various gasses and ignition systems
Special Features:
  • Self-Joining Connection Systems
  • Internal Temperature Control System.
  • Activation Program Sensor
  • Internal Rocket Propulsion Systems.
Strengths:
Air-Time:
The ST-UVAK has been designed to be one of the more reliable jet-pack systems on the open market. It contains enough fuel and gas to give it a suitable activation time of four hours without the need for re-fuelling or charging and can when connected to a Sitra Trade Group approved system regain its charge through the power supply even during use which with the right fuel mix creates a jet-pack that can reliably maintain usage even on the longest and isolated tasks.
Cheap:
Even though the initial development cost Alasdair and the Sitra Group more than anticipated the final product was an effective yet cheaply made jet-pack that could be marketed to the general populace as an affordable jetpack under the now respected Survivor Collection with all the necessary safety precautions.
Multiple Use:
The ST-UVAK has gained respect in certain circles in that it was designed to not only to allow movement within atmosphere but also in zero-gravity allowing it multiple uses in various fields. This is done through a small intricate system that allows the user to select a zero-gravity setting from a list of pre-selected modes during use.
Weaknesses:
Combustable Danger:
Although listed as safe it is a key point to remember that the ST-UVAK is a jetpack and as such is full of flammable gasses, combustable electronics and volatile liquids. A stray blaster bolt, a wandering flame and sheer stupidity is all it would take to assure that the wearer would have no further need of the pack. They would be dead instead.
Energy Sap:
The Uvak was designed by Sitra Group for Sitra Group products but later marketed as a general release. This means that while it can easily be placed into third-market systems it runs at its best when attached to one of the Sitra Trade Groups products. When fixed to a third party the Uvak’s power supply lowers considerably, almost by half as the system runs additional methods to assure it operates with any unknown programming.
Learning Curve:
Like many things in the galaxy the jetpack can be used universally by anyone willing to pay for it. However the UVAK was designed with the idea that a user be trained in its operation and as such its features can be hard to operate if worn by an inexperienced pilot. This can naturally result in injury, harm and even death.
Zero-Gravity Dangers:
As mentioned the UVAK can be set to work with an internal rocket fuel to allow for zero-gravity usage. This mode is considerably more dangerous then its usual usage and can wear out the intricate electrical systems of the UVAK quickly in comparison. It will also lower the life span of the power drive over the course of its life bringing operation hours down from four to two with any use.

Description:
“The number of different types of environments found in the galaxy is staggering. Every world has its own unique mix of gravity, atmosphere, and environment that forms the beings who dwell upon it. It is this the drove us to launch our ST-UVAK system, a dedicated modular jet-pack thrust unit to enable you to traverse these environments in ease, style and most of all safely. We at Sitra Trade Group know that as an explorer, adventurer, pilot and general spacer you will want to operate to your maximum capacity be it on planet or in space, so the Uvak is for you, the working class who make the galaxy go around.” - Marketing

The ST-UVAK is a fully incorporated, back mounted Jet-pack made of sturdy materials designed to keep the wearer capable of movement even in the most inhospitable places. It can operate in the most extreme of conditions be they temperature based or difference of atmospheric pressure. The ST-UVAK is also the first add-on system to go with the Sitra Trade Groups ‘Survivor Collection’, a series of upcoming products for the avid spacer and adventurer to aid with their travels and expeditions. As such it can aid the wearer with the vacuum of space, the depths of the ocean and even atmospheres that are little more than thin arrays of poisonous gas.

With built-in monitoring systems that self-adjust to your particular needs and a large emphasis on protection we have assured the ST-UVAK is a jet-pack for the normal person of the galaxy, built for assurance in a galaxy that can be as dangerous as it is luring.

The ST-UVAK has an operational life of four hours and can be recharged and gasses refilled in a matter of hours.

I appreciate how you've linked this sub with a cultural background that ties in really well to its place in the galaxy: it's refreshing to see.

These seem to contradict themselves to me, but it's possible that I'm missing something in here. If it is an accidental mistake, I would be fine with either one of these options. As an aside, most canon jetpacks that I am aware of are endurance rated by the number of "bursts" they can produce, though I would really doubt that will affect actual roleplaying with one.

Real life jet engines need air from the outside atmosphere to help ignite their fuel. The Wookieepedia article on jetpacks seems to confirm that this is true for the Star Wars versions as well:

To launch, a jetpack funneled both air and fuel through miniaturized turbines. In the device's intake system, the air-fuel mix was ignited, providing the thrust needed to propel the wearer through the air. They were not reliable for use in zero, low or high atmospheric situations, since they required atmospheric gases to produce thrust[1]
I think that this would preclude its reliable use in some of the environments listed, though I can see something in here where the ST-UVAK is capable of better tolerating these conditions to a small degree compared to its competitors. If you are looking for something that definitely is reliable in a variety of settings, I'd consider changing this to being some sort of a rocketpack, which isn't affected by the outside environment nearly as much as a jetpack is.

Yeah the operational hours was an oversight by me, always intended it to be four hours. Edited.

Also added a small entry about the system being able to be set for a rocket mode. Allowing the user to allow the pack to be used in zero-gravity. Balanced this with a new weakness to lower life-usage and dangers of this entry.
