Intent: To create a simple base-line EVA suit for mass production.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: The Sitra Trade Group
Model: ST-MYNOCK-EVA ‘Survivor Collection’
Affiliation: Open Market
Classification: EVA Suit
Weight: 35kg
Quality: 2
Modularity:
  • The ST-Mynock can be modified by the wearer to hold a large level of identification means. However as the suit relies on itself to be airtight any heavy modification is highly suggested against and will not be covered in the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • The ST-Mynock has also been designed to connect to several open market jet-packs for zero gravity use as the Sitra Trade Group has yet to release their own model.
  • The same connector can be used for external air-supply systems.
Production: Mass-Produced.
Material: Various soft and hard components. These include:
  • Synthetic Polymers
  • Nylon
  • Spandex
  • Chemically Treated Nylon
Special Features:
  • Self-Sealing air tight grips.
  • Internal, self contained air supply (Class D: 8 Hours)
  • Internal Radio System
  • Gas, Toxin and Smoke Filter
  • Internal Temperature Control System.
  • Triggered Distress Beacon.
Strengths:
Air-Tight:
The ST-Mynock has been designed to be completely air tight and can be used in a vacuum, toxic environments as well as hazardous surrounds.
Cheap:
Even though the initial development cost Alasdair and the Sitra Group more than anticipated the final product was an effective yet cheaply made EVA suit that could be marketed to the general populace as an affordable EVA with all the necessary safety precautions.
Modularity:
Even though the Sitra Trade Group never intended it, the EVA has a high level of modularity in terms of after-market additions. Various independents have added jet-packs, scanners and even weaponry to the ST-Mynock.
Weaknesses:
No Back-Up:
Unlike some of the more expensive EVAs on the market the ST-Mynock has no failsafe if the suit is to become inoperable due to punctures, broken cables or faults in the electrical systems.
Considerable Bulky:
For the price and simplicity of the ST-Mynock it is quite a heavy piece of equipment that can take some hefty muscles to get ready. This means that in the case of a sudden emergency the ST-Mynock can become a liability for a first-time user.
Not Universal:
The problem with the galaxy is that not one size fits all. The Sitra Trade Group had to make a tough decision on the early stages of the ST-Mynock, coming into the decision if it needed to fit multiple species or just baseline humans. They went with the simpler options and while near species will get away with it the key programming is designed for a human’s body.

Description:
“The number of different types of environments found in the galaxy is staggering. Every world has its own unique mix of gravity, atmosphere, and environment that forms the beings who dwell upon it. We understand that there are numerous worlds that are considered just right in that a substantial percentage of sentient species can dwell there in relative comfort, the great majority of planets, moons, asteroids, and star bases are toxic to at least one species, if not more. We at Sitra Trade Group know that as an explorer, adventurer, pilot and general spacer you will want to operate safely in the galaxy so we designed the ST-MYNOCK-EVA, the first of our Survivor Collection for you.” - Marketing

The ST-MYNOCK is a fully sealed, full-body suit made of sturdy materials designed to keep human and near-human sentients alive in inhospitable places. It can protect the wearer from toxic enviroments, radiological, biological, and chemical hazards, extremes of temperature and various atmospheric pressures. The ST-MYNOCK is also the first suit in the Survivor Collection, a series of upcoming products for the avid spacer and adventurer to aid with their travels and expeditions. As such it can aid the wearer with the vacuum of space, the depths of the ocean and even atmospheres that are little more than choking miasmas of poisonous gas.

With built-in monitoring systems that self-adjust to your particular needs and a large array of attachment and interface points we have assured the ST-MYNOCK is a suit for the normal person of the galaxy, built for modularity and assurance in a galaxy that can be as dangerous as it is luring.

The ST-MYNOCK has an operational life of eight hours and can be recharged and gasses refilled easily by the included MYNOCK-LAIR a wall mountable and easily assembled recharging and storage unit that plugs right into your ship, station, or home wall.
