- Offline Mode
- Trapper: The Pitfall was designed with the intention to prepare traps in space to assist ships in naval engagements. To do so the droid comes with a small collection of various mines that can be detonated with a remote detonator
- Ambush: Besides mines the Pitfall can also be used to set an ambush in space. By using portable proton torpedo launchers the Pitfalls can fire on ships while placed on asteroids or debris.
- Boarding: The Pitfall can also be used to board enemy vessels, as it is armed with a light anti personal scatterblaster and fusioncutter to cut through ship hulls.
- Offline Mode: The Pitfall can go completely offline, not only from a network but powering down completely. Before going into this dormant state a small rotor blade on the back gets pushed, endlessly moving in the vacuum of space, slowly screwing inwards until it reaches an small power button on the back to power the droid up again.
- Clockwork Soldier: The Droid can go completely offline, leaving no energy or heat signature at all in this state. A purely mechanical restart mechanism can be triggered, that powers up the droid after a set time.
- Breaking and Entering: Designed for orbital combat, the Pitfall has various tools to either support a boarding crew, or board a ship itself. It also is rather quick and agile in space. The grappling hook gets used to get close to enemy ships in addition to the jetpack.
- Remote Detonation: The Mines set by the Pitfall can either be detonated by the Droid itself, or by its Master from nearby, depending on what is more useful in this situation.
- Timing: The mechanical timer is quite vague, often altered by the nature of space.
- Fragile: The Pitfall can take little damage before becoming nonfunctional
- Slow on foot: While agile in space, the Pitfall walks very slow when using its legs.
The Pitfall is the first droid model designed and manufactured by Black Flag. Designed for the modern Pirate as an ally in empty space, the droid is more of a trapper than an actual battledroid. Using both complex and ridiculously simple systems, the Pitfall is in tune with the designed philosophy of Black Flag, where nothing stays undone, even if that means putting a restart button and a rotor on the back of a droid.
Programmed not to kill single individuals but to fight smaller spaceships, the Pitfall knows many combat protocols for intelligent mine placement, and works well in small groups. Besides traps the Droid can dish out some direct damage due to the rather heavy weaponry attached to its shoulder.
Yet the Pitfall is far from being without faults. Slow everywhere but in space, and quite fragile, the droid is not something to count on in frontal assaults.
