DESCRIPTION
The SS03 X-wing Space Superiority Starfighter was a specialty line of Starfighters that was developed in secret for the Silver Jedi Concord. While the Republic Engineering Corporation was initially taken aback, as the Concord was seemingly self-sufficient in their desires to flesh out their military arsenal. But, the Coruscanti-based Megacorp wasn’t going to turn down a request to create a specialized lineup of their increasingly popular X-wing’s. Thus, the SS03 was born and found itself placed as the middle sibling to the SS01 and SS02 counterparts. The design team cited that it wanted to offer the Silver Jedi a more robust Strike fighter that would be able to proverbially dance around their spatial opposition. Therefore, to achieve that goal, some of the design advancements from the SS02 had to be stripped away to make room for additional thrusters.
With that additional space freed up, the SS03 became considerably more agile in comparison to its predecessors. Each integrated engine was outfitted with a selection of micronized thrusters, or MicroThrust engines, to assist the Starfighter in performing complex spatial maneuvres. These additional drives allowed the Pilot of the SS03 to dance, and to weave their way through the spatial battlefield and engage their enemies from variable vectors. Such a boon couldn’t be readily dismissed as the combination of speed and agility were key when engaging an enemy starfighter in a dogfight. While some would believe that stocking up on a considerable weapons array would lead to victory, such truths were proven false - time and again. The ability to keep your opponent within your gun-sights, and keeping your strike fighter out of harm’s way - was the true path to victory.
For one couldn’t kill, what they couldn’t see.
From there, the SS03 was outfitted with the standard and comprehensive suite of countermeasures. Each of these subsystems ensured that the Starfighter would remain within the Pilot’s control, and counteract some of the conventional jammers that one would encounter on the spatial battlefield. But, the true beauty of the SS-series of X-wing’s lay within its active interception measures, as even the most advanced of warheads would find countless difficulties in pursuing and subsequently striking the SS03. With a selection of “Seeker” warheads outfitted at the rear of the Starfighter, these brilliant nano missiles would hunt down enemy munitions that locked onto the strike craft - seeking to destroy them before they reached their target. These interception warheads were further enhanced by a complement of dedicated sensor and targeting jammers - which held the potential of re-routing enemy munitions back from whence they came.
To further add to the SS03’s toolkit, like the Strike craft’s predecessors, this X-wing was also fitted with a Squadron Mask. This dedicated sensor jammer was best utilized in close proximity to other starfighters, as it would temporarily blind their tracking systems - acting as a proverbial shroud. While it was the furthest thing from a cloaking device, this sensor jammer would allow the starfighter - and likely the entire squadron - to seemingly vanish from their enemy’s targeting scopes. With this temporary advantage in hand, enemy Pilots would be forced to break formation and likely scour the stars in hopes of finding their opposition, lest the SS03’s find them first. Thus, with the SS03 in hand, the military arm of the Silver Jedi Concord would doubtlessly come to rival, or even surpass the might of their neighbouring interstellar nations.
