- Hyperdrive: 0.5 | 12 backup
- Power Plant
- A single hypermatter reactor provides enough energy to power the entire ship twice over in non-combat conditions.
- Engines
- 4x4 stacked ion engines produce incredible thrust for excellent atmospheric and subspace flight performance.
- Various maneuvering thrusters provide a full range of movement and allow the corvette to make precise adjustments.
- A class 0.5 hyperdrive with a class 12 backup.
- Baffled to mitigate detection of the starship’s engine emissions.
- Computer Systems
- A cockpit-mounted flight computer controlled from the pilot stations.
- A password-locked master computer to control all other onboard systems. Typically left to automatic processes due to the risk of catastrophic failure and other unintended outcomes. However, the master computer can be manually controlled. The master computer is locally networked only, and hard-wired to trigger sudden depressurization should the system be tampered with. Incidentally, this also prevents anyone from changing the Coronet’s registration.
- Several general-purpose computer stations with both local network and HoloNet access.
- A droidbrain-assisted astronavigation unit with encrypted travel logs. The Planeshift has unfortunately rendered much of the old data useless, but they contain records of (possibly fictitious) systems that don’t exist on any known charts.
- Sensor Array
- A standard full-spectrum sensor array with all the expected features and capabilities for a corvette, including the ability to perform long- and short-range scans of other starships and astronomical objects.
- Communications Array
- Two full-spectrum hyperwave transceivers work in tandem to provide the starship with short-and-long-range FTL communication and HoloNet access. Encrypted to prevent data leaks and secured from unauthorized remote access. Can be bypassed with an OEM master keycode.
- A universal jammer to scramble - if not foil - all but the most specialized sensors and close-range scans.
- Escape Pods
- 4 ventrally mounted 5-seater escape pods. They come packed with an emergency kit that includes: a long-range transceiver, S.O.S. beacon, first aid kit, holdout pistol, knife, survival equipment, canopy tent, bed rolls, and two weeks of rations.
- Docking Port
- A pair of universal docking ports allow the corvette to dock with other ships and orbital stations.
- Interior Layout & Amenities
- Bridge
- Located at the bow. The bridge houses the pilot and co-pilot stations and two auxiliary stations for communications/sensor and weapons control. There is also a communications terminal and com/scan table at the center for command.
- Upper Midsection
- The upper midsection of the Spring Coronet contains the bulk of the corvette’s facilities. These include the five gunnery stations; master computer room; a pair of crew barracks with five bunk beds each, storage lockers, a refresher, and three showers; a private (albeit cramped) captain’s quarters; an auxiliary barracks for up to ten guests, and a “VIP” suite for two guests; a detention area for up to four prisoners; a medbay; the kitchen and crew lounge.
- Lower Midsection
- The lower midsection is dominated by the joint cargo and vehicle bay, large enough to house a compact shuttle (or airspeeder) and a ground vehicle. There is also an armory and makeshift physical recreation/training area.
- Stern
- The rear of the ship houses the reactor room and droid bay. The latter has astromech and protocol droid stations, as well as resources for their maintenance and repair.
- Misc.
- Traversal throughout the ship is managed by hallways, lifts, and ladders. There is also a network of maintenance shafts that connects all areas of the ship, large enough for an astromech or adult human if they’re willing to crawl.
- Bridge
- Security Systems
- Maglocked blast doors allow individual bulkheads and rooms to be sealed off manually or remotely from the master computer.
- An anti-theft system allows the Coronet to be put into “lockdown mode,” activating proximity-sensitive anti-personnel autoturrets with dual-action ion and stun firing modes. The system also automatically seals all blast doors in the event of unauthorized boarding. These features are configurable and controlled from both the master and pilot computers.
- Holocameras are installed in every hall and common room, providing remote surveillance. There are also exterior-facing cameras to monitor the ship’s surroundings; includes night vision.
- Life Support
- A standard life support system fills the corvette with the conditions of a Type I atmosphere. If not a little cold and dry.
- Shield Generator
- An advanced generator with deflector, particle, and molecular shield projectors. They are quite durable against heavy fire and recharge quickly when depleted.
- Targeting & Weapons Control
- The Coronet’s main guns can be controlled manually or by computer. They can even be linked in multiple configurations as necessary by the ship’s gunners.
- The targeting systems allow for accurate fast-tracking of targets ranging from fast-moving fighters to starship subsystems and capital ship hardpoints.
- An Enduring Legend: The Spring Coronet is a centuries-old vessel that has endured despite all odds. It is easily modified with aftermarket parts and can be jury-rigged in a hurry. For every trouble the Coronet runs into, there is a trick to pull. Snappy engines to outrun larger ships, durable armor to withstand brutal blows, advanced shields to absorb worse, and a class 0.5 hyperdrive to get away. Its time as a smuggling vessel also left the corvette with some neat upgrades and stealth features - including advanced targeting systems, baffled engines, and a universal jammer.
- The Curse of Hugo Blaize: Thanks to the extensive criminal record of Hugo Blaize, the Spring Coronet attracts a lot of unwanted attention, from legal scrutiny to grudge holders, and alleged former owners itching to claw back their starship.
- Touched by Many Hands: A long history of undocumented repairs and odd replacement parts has marred the corvette with faulty wiring, technical hiccups, and compromised subsystems. Damage or sabotage to one area could cause a cascade effect or lead to catastrophic failure.
The Spring Coronet is a modified CR65 Corvette built in 191 ABY by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Over the centuries, the starship has seen so many repairs and part replacements that one could argue if it really is the original ship. The ship’s log goes back to 349, detailing a rich history of owners and purposes, from smuggling and piracy to running medical supplies and fighting in an Outer Rim militia. However, the ship’s register was irreversibly altered in 855 to show a single owner - Hugo Blaize - a likely cover identity.
Since then, Hugo Blaize has racked up numerous violations, including unpaid docking fees, failure to stop for inspections, and the unlawful transportation of a restricted biological agent, among other citations. This has made the Spring Coronet a wanted ship across multiple sectors and the subject of personal grudges and ownership disputes. Curiously, several law enforcement agencies have even listed the corvette as actively impounded, scrapped, or destroyed in battle.
From a technical perspective, the CR65 is a capable light corvette platform designed by CEC. In the Coronet’s case, the starship is equipped with a standard hypermatter reactor powering eight snappy ion engines and a weapons system consisting of four turbolasers and a single turreted heavy laser cannon. The reactor also supports an advanced shield generator with multiple layers of protection and a quick recharge rate.
But like many Corellian vessels, it is both ubiquitous and configurable, with manufacturing spanning decades across several shipyards, meaning the guts of no two CR65s are truly alike. Especially one that has survived as many centuries as the Spring Coronet has. There have been so many undocumented repairs, jury-rigged solutions, and substandard replacements that the starship is plagued by engineering flaws and unpredictable technical glitches. Yet the Coronet has kept flying despite it all; an ever-unfolding story across the stars.
