Affiliation: Naboo, Theed Hangar, select customers

Manufacturer: Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps

Model: Spinnaker-class Light Carrier

Modularity: No

Production: Mass-Produced

Material: Durasteel hull

Classification: Frigate Carrier

Length: 500m

Height: 90m

Width: 170m

Armament: Rating 2
  • 1 dual turbolaser
  • 1 dual ion cannon
  • 1 flex-tube warhead launcher
  • 1 RASP launcher with mission-specific probe capacity
  • 10 quad lasers
  • 10 antimissile octets
  • 10 point-defense autoturrets
Defenses: Rating 10
  • Light armor
  • Military-grade shield generator
  • Reinforced internal bulkheads
  • Advanced astromech-based repair protocols
Hangar: The Spinnaker can field, maintain, refit, and repair (within reason) three squadrons of small craft. Generally, these are some combination of Soruna space superiority fighters, S-3 scout fighters, N-5 interceptors, and/or Virtue light bombers.

Special Features:
  • Reconnaissance and Survey Probe (RASP) launcher, fed from an 8-probe bay which is loaded with a mission-specific selection of SIARC, EXPARC, SUREC, and INCIS probes
  • Advanced astromech-based repair protocols with reinforced internal bulkheads
Manoeuvrability Rating: 10
Speed Rating: 11
Hyperdrive Class: 1, range 200,000 light-years

Strengths:
  • Can deploy a variety of sensor probes; INCIS probes include tactical interdiction functionality
  • Layered defensive guns with comprehensive coverage
  • Advanced astromech-based repair protocols
  • Long-range hyperdrive (large gas tank)
Weaknesses:
  • Lightly armed, even for a carrier
  • Light armor
  • Requires frequent resupply to maintain its hangar repair functionality: repair functionality takes up a lot of parts and resources
Description: The Spinnaker is a basic light carrier in most respects. It deviates from the norm in three areas: internal self-repair, hangar complement repair, and hyperdrive range.

Like the smaller H9 Patrol Corvette, the Spinnaker boasts two factors which mitigate internal damage through prevention and in-flight repair. Reinforced internal bulkheads reduce internal damage after armor is breached. Advanced repair protocols and a high-end astromech complement allow the Spinnaker to repair moderate amounts of internal damage within the context of a single battle. Obviously this capability has common-sense limits: the Spinnaker can’t turn itself from a hulk to a fully functional ship in minutes, nor can it repair major damage. Still, the Spinnaker’s repair capability can largely keep pace with reasonable amounts of component damage, fires, or depressurization, if given the time.

The Spinnaker's hangar capacity includes significant repair and refit functionality. The Spinnaker requires frequent resupply (at least when actively repairing/refitting small craft), but its relevant mechanisms are top-of-the-line.

The Spinnaker's robust Class One hyperdrive comes outfitted with a two-hundred-thousand-light-year fuel tank system, comparable to a long-range scout fighter or supertransport. This fuel capacity allows the Spinnaker to deploy starfighters on the other side of the galaxy and come home afterward, without gassing up along the way.

Well, as a learner of the arts of starships, it does have its generic numbers as the template with only the armament being dropped to 2. On the other hand, would it count for a weakness to be considered light armor when it is having the exact same rating as a generic one used from the starship template. I mean, seeing it in the big picture, yeah it does have light armor compared to bigger ships but when compared to identical types having a defence rating of 10, thus a light armor is completely normal.

Also, I don't see problems with the numbers in the armaments.

Good catch. My counterpoint would be that defense rating includes both shields and armor, as well as internal durability. So when I specify light armor, I'm saying that it's got light armor for a vessel of total defense rating 10. Its shields are tough, but once they're down, more shots than normal are going to be punching through.

Does that work for you, and if so, would you like me to clarify in the submission?

It's comprehensible enough for me as it is. I totally disregarded the fact that by armor it was meant the hull and not the whole package of shield + hull, lol.

Not a starship specialist here, you know that well, but it's nice to see a ship or as a matter of fact a submission that doesn't solely revolve around obliterate the enemy or be impregnable to infinity or my favorite - a combination of both the first and the second, but rather revolves around utility, support and functionality.
