Special Forces Combat Armor

The following is a WIP, and is currently just a set of ideas. Feel free to comment, leave ideas, and so on below. I intend to be at least somewhat useful and make armor/uniforms for the NFUs of the faction, whether it gets used or not. I'll be using some stuff I've already pushed through the factory (and "invented") to keep the armor lightweight, rather than going for bulky armorweave, in order to trade certain defenses for others. I'll probably make several variations of this so that those who seek specific types of combat, or a mixed role, can be protected appropriately.

Intent: Armor for elite special forces of the Republic Army to be worn in combat.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Braith, The Galactic Republic
Model: SFCA-E1
Affiliation: Galactic Republic
Modularity: None
Production: Limited
Material:
Classification: Anti-Blaster
Weight: 5 kg
Quality:
  • Blunt Force: 4
  • Lightsaber: 4 (Plates) 0 (Fabric)
  • Blaster: 8 (Reflects Blaster Bolts)
  • Slash/Pierce: 5 (Plates) 2 (Fabric)
Special Features:
  • Blaster Begone: Due to the use of simmersilk and alchemized Fleximetal plates the surface of this armor, aside from any exposed portions, reflect blaster fire. Generally speaking this goes up to around rifle-grade blaster fire, trying to reflect a laser cannon or turbolaser (Darwinism for the win!) will result in excruciating pain and/or death. While the simmersilk provides amazing protection from blasters, there is still a chance that the material may fail to fully reflect a well-placed shot and result in an impact.
  • Limited Lightsaber Resistance: In the realm of lightsaber resistant equipment and technology, even the smallest resistance goes a long way. As such the fleximetal plates, fully alchemized, provide complete resistance to glancing blows and slight resistance from direct blows, in such a way that it might take a second blow to completely pierce the fleximetal plates to harm the wearer directly if contact is not sustained for more than two or so seconds.
  • Communications: Compacted beneath a fleximetal band that is fixated on the right forearm is a wrist-mounted commlink and a holographic projector that displays informational updates and commands received from leaders and other troop members, utilizing solid-state holographic technology and advanced motion detection to interpret hand gestures as keystrokes in the same manner an infrared keyboard might interpret movements as keystrokes. Swiping and pinching/expanding work in the same way a touch-screen datapad would, or a holographic terminal.
Description: (Include some strengths and weaknesses here. Describe some of the history behind the submission. Give us some idea of how it might perform its function, what it excels against and what some limitations of it are. This is where you talk about your idea, flesh it out over at least a good-sized paragraph, and address some of the ways it might be used or abused. For especially powerful or ambitious submissions, a very thorough description is recommended.)
