..:: Special Features ::..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Internal Automated Smelter System - Due to the sheer immense size of these units, each one is constructed with an internal smelting system that is wholly automated. This means that each unit intakes the minerals and ores that it mines and further processes them into ingots which can be retrieved at any time. Likewise the droid is capable of sending a message to a predetermined node or individual to inform them when their internal storage capacity is full and requiring the system to be shutoff until the storage is emptied.

Manipulator Arms - While much smaller than its lower limbs, each unit has a set of manipulator arms that fold up under its primary photoreceptor. These manipulator arms end in a set of three slender manipulators which are often used to carefully place its payload of detonite charges utilized in its mining operations.

..:: Strengths ::..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • All Terrain: Each limb ends in a specialized foot pad that allows the massive unit to anchor itself to the wall, floor, or other solid surface to keep it in place while operating. To ensure further stability, each limb is capable of being operated individually so that there are still multiple limbs secured even if one is purposely unattached or otherwise becomes dislodged from its position.

..:: Weaknesses ::..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Detonite Charges: Each unit carries with it a payload of detonite charges utilized in its mining operations. However if these charges were either struck or otherwise set off, the resulting explosion would tear through the primary operating systems of the droid and thus disable it or otherwise outright destroy the droid through the sheer force of the explosion. Additionally this could result in a collapse of the tunnel its operating in, as well as the ground located immediately above the tunnel it may have been operating inside at the time of the explosion.

  • Massive Size: It is HUGE, resulting in a slow speed and maneuverability as well as presenting itself as a massive target. It is not recommended to be put into the line of fire or in combat in general.

  • Limb Loss: While it is capable of continued operation if one of its limbs were to be damaged or otherwise removed; the loss of any one leg would throw off the units balance and further reduce its speed.

..:: Description ::..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those worlds that can support life there are less destructive means of mining and more environmentally friendly options.

For everything else there is the Sorenn-Syrush Industries Mining Spyder.

These colossal droids are designed for a singular purpose, the mining, extraction, and smelting of raw minerals and ores that may be of value. The primary downside of these droids are their immense size, and thus it is recommended that they be kept away from any such battlefield or potential conflict area as they are expensive to replace or repair. However, even though they are not meant to be modular or otherwise refitted, some intelligent individuals have managed to do so, often replacing the droid's mining laser with something much more powerful (or in turn utilizing the droid as a charge layer due to its detonite charge payload).

Even with these downsides, its potential still remains as it caters to a specific need and industry.
