Rosedge
1500 hours

Were this a cartoon, Nefertari would still have hearts floating out of her head. The wedding was still fresh in her mind, and marrying Gherron was the best descision she'd ever made. Now, it was time for Gherron to meet the child he'd fathered two years before.
She took in a breath of the clean chandrilan air, it was nice to be on an actual planet once in a while. Seeing the village she grew up in fully rebuilt was merely a bonus to all the other good things happening.
"Articus really takes after you, darling. I think you two will get along quite nicely."

It was the first time Gherron had ever been to Rosedge, the place where Nefertari had grown up in. He'd often heard her title as countess mentioned, but had never thought to ask about it. Now that he saw it, it was quite a beauty. Gherron was always a fan of simple things, and this definitely had that. Like his wife however, his mind was not on the village but instead flooded with memories of their wedding, and the sheer happiness that it had brought the two of them. And even better, his closest friend, Josh was there to see it through. It brought a chuckle to him, the whole idea that there was a time when he was broken-hearted over a ghosting and Josh was laughing about it. After all, he had been warned then, but he had still tried his luck. But now, as he stepped over the threshold, his gaze fell upon the most beautiful little boy he'd ever seen. Smiling to himself, he was almost at a loss of words for a few moments as he watched the boy that was his son playing with his toys in the middle of the floor. "Articus", he said softly. As the child looked up at his father, a glowing smile passed over his face and he dropped his toys to walk over to the couple. Dropping to his knees, Gherron looked Articus in the eyes. "Do you know who I am?" The little boy smiled and hugged him tight then. "Daddy!" Gherron smiled up at Nefertari, a smile of pure joy.

Gherron's joy at the tiny human was most pleasing. Articus was clearly brimming with elation, having met the parent he'd only heard about until now.
Nef got down to her son's level, beside her husband.
"Articus, Daddy is going to finally be living with us."
Articus tightened his tiny hug around Gherron with a "Yay!" the child's shout of delight gladdened Nefertari even more, and she made it a group hug.
"I have a whole family again, at last. There is nothing I would trade this for."

Gherron smiled at the whole scene, as happy as his wife was to finally have a family together. As he looked around though, he felt a spark come from the child, not too strong, but not very faint either. Taking Nefertari aside for a moment, he asked a question that he probably should have asked earlier. "Our son. He's force sensitive, isn't he?" His tone was somewhat fearful, but judging by his own past and experience, he knew the trials of a force user. And in this case, where Articus was the offspring of two exceptional force users, his life could be all the more troublesome. In truth, Gherron was terrified for his son. What did the galaxy have in store for him? All he wanted now was to protect his legacy, so that he had a better life than his father did.

Nef smiled with gentle reassurance at Gherron's question. This was bound to come up sooner or later.
"Gherron, any children we have are very likely going to be force sensitive. As for Articus; I am certain he is."
Nefertari could feel her husband's fear, and felt that it was partially justified. In truth, she too was nervous for their child; not only did having the power granted by force sensitivity throw a heaping helping of responsibility on them, it could add a good amount of obstacles to his life.
"It's a big, rough galaxy out there. However, we both made it this far. If Articus is much like his parents, he will be all right."

Nodding in reassurance, Gherron smiled at his love, then back at Articus. "You're right. I don't think he could possibly have any better protection than us two." Hugging both of his family tightly for a moment, he broke the hug after a few seconds to look at Nefertari once again. "Oh, I need to start looking at some work for myself if i'm going to be a functional member of society again. Any ideas?" He kind of figured she would suggest him joining back up with the Jedi Order, but honestly he wasn't sure if he was ready or willing to make that step. After all, from what he'd heard about it recently from others, it wasn't something he would like to be a part of anymore. Besides, he'd found his own way with the force now, and he was sure that some aspects of it were considered 'not the Jedi way.' As open-minded as they could be, he wasn't sure if that path was for him anymore.

Nefertari thought for a moment. Indeed, Gherron would need to start getting back into the swing of things, and he was pretty much back to square one. She'd been in that spot before, and wanted to help him any way she could.
"You could always rejoin the order, but that hardly seems like the right choice. Besides that, your options vary depending on where we decide to live."
Even though she longed to see her love in the role of guardian of peace and justice again, she really had his best interest at heart.

"You know, I was thinking of living somewhere subtle for once. Far enough to where we wouldn't have to deal with life-altering adventures on the daily, but close enough that you could still do your duty as a Jedi."

In this, he hoped to make both of them win. Gherron would have somewhat of a quiet life for once, while his wife could still carry out tasks given to her by the Jedi. He would still offer his assistance from time to time, of course, but for the most part, he felt he deserved a break. Especially after the last galaxy-wide event, he needed some rest. Though he wouldn't even admit it to himself, mentally he was still on Refuge, surviving on his own in the peace and quiet of the jungle. He just needed more time. "Maybe I could take up something simple for a while. I was always good with my hands, maybe I could put them to other uses. Maybe farming?" He laughed for a moment. "Anyway, wherever we decide to settle our house, I could take care of Articus while you go off and play protector of the galaxy. I can assure you, we won't be going anywhere."

"Farming, huh? If you would like to give it a try, feel free to use one of the fields here. I've honestly been a little hesitant about letting people move in just yet."
Rosedge had been an agricultural village after all. Over the years of her love's abscence, Nef had been piecing together what had happened to it during the nights she'd stayed up with the infant Articus. From what she'd gathered, the Gulag plague had hit it hard and completely wiped it out.
"Anyway, wherever we decide to settle our house, I could take care of Articus while you go off and play protector of the galaxy. I can assure you, we won't be going anywhere."

"Thank you very much, Gherron. However, I've considered taking a break from being a defender of the outer regions. I want to be here for you, and for Articus. As long as we are together, we could settle in the wilderness of refuge for all I care" She said, having sensed her husband's thoughts "So you were there that whole time. What is it like there?"
Articus tugged on her pant leg, and Nef lifted him into her arms, holding him close.

Gherron smiled once more at his son as Nef picked him up, and at her question, led her to a nearby table with a set of chairs. Sitting down, he motioned for her to do the same. Taking a moment of silence for himself, he looked troubled. "Nef... It wasn't exactly easy to leave. I had intended on staying for a lot longer than I did, and if it wasn't for Josh..." He looked at the two most important people to him in the galaxy. He often had dreams of Refuge, all of them vivid and real-like. There were so many unanswered questions he had about the mysterious planet, and that aura of absolute peace... He just couldn't shake it, even now. "Refuge is a place of mystery, that's for sure. There's a lot there that's hard to explain. There's also a force of darkness, hidden in the deeper parts of its forests. I want to go back, but I'm scared that if I do I won't want to leave again."
