Imperialism has returned to the galaxy.

With the collapse of the Empire of the Lost and the Dark Empire, ex-Imperial forces have been left in complete disarray. With no leadership, various warlords have divided the fertile region of the Mid Rim, each struggling to justify their new claim as the one true successor to the Imperial way.

Enter the Imperial Confederation, a hoi polloi of those among the Imperial Remnant who were yet willing to lock arms with one another in the name of rebuilding Imperial unity. Among them are Sith and former Sith, Mawites, New Imperials, Dark Imperials, and some who have seen the purpose of empire throughout the galaxy’s history. Seeking to further the dominion of their nascent state, the warlords who provide the nascent Empress Liraeth Deschart with her authority embark on a crusade to yet return authority to the former Imperial worlds - starting with the planet of Cholganna.

OBJECTIVE 1

VjxV1XR.png
Centuries ago, during the Clone Wars, the Munificent-class Frigate Sa Nalaor crashed on the world, carrying aboard it a small army of thousands of battle droids, along with weapons, munitions, and valuable technical data stolen from the Confederacy of Independent Systems in its dying days. Though the ship’s wreck remains splintered and ever more consumed by the Cholgannan foliage, treasures still remain.

The hulk is a rusted mess, filled with crumbling floorplates, gutted wire, and the corroding carcasses of hundreds of thousands of battle droids. Deep in its heart, however, the ship’s stores and computer cores still hold away munitions, supplies of galactic credits, and the source of valuable secrets - wonder-weapons of the Confederacy’s dying days. Recover the cores for Imperial Intelligence to analyze.

OBJECTIVE 2

OkN5YRs.png
The Retreat was founded by the survivors of the Sa Nalaor’s crash hundreds of years ago and is the most comprehensive settlement on Cholganna. Despite predation by nexu and the slow withering of consumables taken from the wreck, the few descendants of the ship’s survivors yet comprise a somewhat stable colony - the only permanent colony on the planet.

Many warlords would love nothing more than to claim dominion over an uncultivated planet, a world begging to be molded and shaped in their image. Whatever the circumstances, Cholganna must be brought under Imperial control and the remaining survivors living in the Retreat made aware of their new masters.

OBJECTIVE 3

zfVfjev.png
Cholganna is a big and empty planet, filled with carnivorous nexu and untapped forests filled with the remains of dead settlements and wrecked starships. Scout the planet below and find other unknown beneficial resources, locations, or items for the Empire.

Dieter was deep in the forests of Cholganna. His order was a simple one: locate and capture Forest Nexi. He was cutting through thick underbrush with his vibrosword as one of the stormtrooper sergeants asked,

"Captain, why are we going out into the middle of nowhere while other companies are busy taking over The Retreat? All this for some cats?"

Dieter laughed loudly, "Not just cats, Sergeant. Some of best feline predators this side of galaxy. And the ones we hunt see infrared. Command want breed these for guard dog... well guard cat."

He hacked through several more bushes before happening on a clearing. He looked around, then turned back to the platoon of soldiers following him, along with a few repulsored cages. "We stop. Take break here, da? I want watchers, all four directions. Keep lookout for pirates and kitties."

The clearing itself wasn't large, but there was enough room for his men to take a break after marching for more than a kilometer. The soldiers of Dieter's platoon gratefully unhitched their packs, others slumping against the bases of trees, or checking equipment by the repulsor cages. Dieter stayed standing, vibrosword stuck to the side of his rocketpack, one hand removing his helmet, and the other reaching into a pouch on his belt, pulling out an unlit, but obviously used ciggara.

He lit it and took a long drag, exhaling smoke while saying, "Still too quiet."

A brief rustle barely caught his ears. To anyone else in his platoon, it could've been the wind. To Dieter, it was a warning.

His voice barked across the clearing. "Eyes up! Movement, northwest!" It was too late.

A blur of muscle, claws, and death slammed into a trooper from above, dragging him screaming into the underbrush. Blood spattered a nearby tree. Then came the growls, low, guttural, and surrounding them.

The sergeant from earlier yelled out, "Contact! Nexu! They're surrounding us!"

Although she tried not to show it, Admiral Squesha was excited. This was her first mission as Admiral of the 8th fleet and she was eager to prove herself. Cholganna had long been a planet practically crying out for order. She stood aboard the bridge of one of her Imperial-I class destroyers, The Enforcer. She had divided her fleet up, so that the sytem could be contained more efficently.

"Today marks a new age for the Imperial Confederation. The age of conquest. With this planet conquered we will show the galaxy our ambition!"
Her bridge crew did not reply. They had learnt by now to avoid talking back to their admiral. Only the captain said anything.

"Well said commander. But are you sure it was wise to split the fleet like this?"
Squesha frowned.

"Do you seriously think we will need more than three star destroyers and two frigates to secure this space? This planet does not even have a defense fleet!"

As if to prove her wrong a fleet of ships appeared from the far side of the planets second moon. Subconsciously her Quarren skins colors rippled in surprise and anger.

"Battle stations! Pirate fleet spotted bearing 076! Target and destroy! Xesh Formation! Fighters, get ready to engage!"

Imperial klaxons blared as her star destroyers moved into a triangular formation, The Enforcer at the tip of the spear. She knew however that she would need more fighter and small ship support to aid in victory.

"Send this message on all imperial frequencies," she told her communications officer, "Calling all available Imperial ships! Contact with pirate fleet, requesting support immediately! Fighters highly desirable."

Stormclad Company advanced towards the Retreat at a steady pace. Corporal Tova Zyl and her squad mates were at the front. There were no special tactics to their advance. Only the high ranking officers knew the full motive of the operation. Stormclad were grunts. Tova's HVT-32 heavy ordinance squad was peak amongst that. They were trained from back in the days under Emperor Kilran to blow up what they were told to blow up and leave the questions to others.

Now they marched under a different flag. Answered to a High Sergeant instead of a Captain. The job was the same. Stormclad weren't elite. They were many. They brought blasters and tanks and walkers. They went where they were told and did not surrender. Tova Zyl, had been just that for a years now.

Whether it was Cholganna under the current Imperial flag or Lothal sector under the last, Stormclad company scorched earth, bled and died for the mission. Tova knew that some of the men behind her would not make it out of the coming battle. "HVT-32 the locals have installed makeshift barricades. You'll need to clear the way for our vehicles to enter the settlement.". It was the voice of the new High Sergeant. Tova hadn't learned his name.

"Firecracker, Boomer you two are on the barricades. The rest of the squad will keep any local militia off your backs, the voice of Sergeant Vorrant came over the squad channel.

Tova looked to her right at Boomer, her opposite in physique, tall and skinny. He carried a shoulder mounted rocket. Tova was always jealous he got to employ that weapon. Vorrant continually told her that she'd be out of the fight after firing it once and being thrown backward.

"Wait for me to start shooting. Then launch all the missiles you got," Tova barked to her comrade, a smirk beneath her helmet. The barricades came into range and she fired off two grenades at the closest barricade and heard Boomer's rockers launch. She smiled as the battle was now to begin. She kept launching grenades as long as there was no opposition. Her finger sat on the switch to change firing type when she needed to engage troops rather than launch projectiles at targets. She waited for the satisfying sounds of explosions to report their success.

OBJECTIVE: Secure the Retreat
LOCATION: Cholganna

Selrik stood on the bridge of the mobile command center, studying maps of the terrain of Cholganna, which, for lack of a better word, was extremely hostile. There were squads of the Imperator Corp working their way through the jungle towards the settlement, and a couple of walkers moved ahead of the Bastion, maneuvering through the terrain while the Bastion rolled over it. Trees would regrow, so would plants. Animals would get out of the way or die. Considering the world was overgrown with vegetation and an abundance of fauna, it seemed unlikely that their presence would cause a great disturbance in the grand scheme of things.

Blips on the holographic display of the terrain around them indicated that some of the advanced units had made it to the outskirts of the settlement. Part of him wondered if the people here were going to resist or not.

"Forward units are indicating the placement of makeshift barricades large enough to stop our vehicles," the Bastion's lieutenant informed him, as he stepped over to the map to indicate the location.

Selrik frowned. "Even the Bastion? That seems unlikely."

"Probably not the Bastion, no, but we didn't want to risk it getting stuck in the treads. The forward team are utilizing missiles and grenades to take them down at the moment."

"No signs of manned resistance yet?"

"None."

Selrik drummed his fingers against the holotable. The barricades could have been constructed as a means of defense against wildlife rather than to stop them from entering the settlement. It was possible. Cholganna had been in previously controlled imperial territory, if he remembered correctly, so really the world should have been willing to return, unless there was some bad blood between the populace and the Empire of the Lost that he was unaware of. But there was also the chance that some rebel cell had established itself on the world in the time since then, and that they were influencing the locals against the Confederation.

"Have everyone proceed with entering the village as planned. Prepare for hostilities."

Admiral Squesha scowled. The rest of her fleet was an hour away. Too far to make a difference in time. She would just have to deal with it herself.

"Frigates on me! Star destroyers, flank positions! We will trap them in our net. I will draw their fire. Helm, accelerate to attack speed."

Seeing the larger fleet seemingly break up the pirates pushed the attack. Their fleet, an old mon clamari cruiser, some corellian corvettes and two ancient munificent frigates headed strait for The Enforcer.

"Increase forward deflector shields to 70%. Target their cruiser."

Her well drilled crew complied immediately. turbolaser turrets swivelled and took aim. As the enemy fire lanced out at The Enforcer its own weapons answered, throwing heavy damage at the enemy cruiser.

"Star Destroyers, target their flanks!"

The ship shuddered as it took another hit. "Shields are taking a beating! We wont hold for long!"

"They are close enough! Send out our fighters. They will draw their fire. Fighters are to target their weapons and engines."

OBJECTIVE I.

Sieliel took her pause to rest upon a moss covered outcrop while the rest of the recovery team continued their march into the harsh jungle. Three days being frogmarched into the heart of the Cholganna jungle in search of an ancient alien craft would ordinarily not been seen as salvation to some but she knew better. There was still a sense of something surreal-- of not belonging-- following her court martial on board The Cerebus as if she had survived something that she should not of, and even now, as she rested, there was still a sensation of supreme guilty for the part she had played in the collapse of the Empire of the Lost.

In the weeks leading up to the formation of the tribunal and subsequent hearing to look into the allegations made by The Diarchy, Sieliel had fully not expected to have survived this long. She had figured that if her former comrades in the Fifth Wing could not get at her while she was being detained then the tribunal itself would elect to execute her for high crimes against the Imperial administration of which the newly founded Imperial Confederation had succeeded, and if she were to somehow, inexplicably survive such a process then they would find Sieliel in whatever hole she would be buried in for her crimes and there they would silence her much like they had to so many others over the past two years since the formation of the conspiracy.

Perhaps this was the venue for it? Out here in this harsh terrain it would be easy for a professional to make it look like a victim had succumbed to the wilderness. Although Sieliel still did not fully grasp the size of the conspiracy she had served for two years once thing became abundantly clear: they were everywhere. As Stormtroopers marched by, and droids buzzed with their red florescent lights casting scans for the Sa Nalaor wreckage, Sieliel eyed the members of the recovery team quietly. Was there an assassin among their ranks? Another traitor warped by Sith conspiracy as she had once been?

The sleek Imperial uniform she wore felt hot, tight and clammy in this environment. Beads of sweat gripped her brow, and every so often, Sieliel felt the compulsion to wipe it away. No matter how much she drank from her water rations, or took momentary brief respites from the march she was apart of, nothing seemed to elevate her feeling of severe uncomfortableness and thoughts about the Fifth Wing or the mysterious LAETOR did not serve to elevate the tension.

Not even focusing on the job on hand helped to take the edge of. There was no cutting it, she feared. It didn't matter that she had been pardoned. They were still out there... Somewhere. Until they were caught-- until The Fifth Wing was destroyed-- Sieliel Dimegor would never feel comfortable again for, even out here in this harsh jungle, she felt marked...
