Something quiet, is not always a good thing

Raven Hayashi

Raven, the not so wise fox
Location: Corellia, an old courtyard

Time: 5 AM

Raven was silently practising her blade techniques. The sun was slowly rising over the buildings.

She was practising her Ataru combat form. She was so focused that she didn't notice anything around her.

[/float]In between jobs and sitting idle as the Twins directed the maintenance of the Summer's Blade, Hessai decided that he would for one of these days look around for somewhere to consider his previous experiences, perhaps shadow-spar and further along the line watch some holonet summary groups he had been keeping an eye on to consider a future job posting to latch onto. He was dressed in his full attire of armor and his two Echani blades at his hips-his woebringer pistol along his back and his helmet crutched under his arm; it was as he turned his visor caught the silhouetted glow of a person in the courtyard he was passing by. For Corellia, it was always a surprise to find this little quiet abodes, but his head shifted slightly as he considered the figure. "Good morning," He spoke, his voice level and with that sort of calm folks took to just before or after breakfast as they rose with the sun. "Care for a sparring partner?"

Raven landed under a lamp post kneeling on one knee. he own blade was pointed to her right. Getting up and turning she replied "Morning"- Raven wasn't wearing he cloak so her ears and tail were visible- "a sparring partner?.... yeah help would be appreciated" he resumed he combat stance: he left leg bent in front while her right was stood back and straight. she held her vibroblade with both hands and it was pointed her new target. "You can make the first move" she added.

He nodded, coming onto the center of the courtyard and looking about briefly. The stone and tiling looked solid enough, so him bounding about was not going to cause any serious issues. His helmet went to cap about his head and the visor's visuals clicked on; with a touch to his head and unclipping the cap there, the visor within the helmet came up to reveal his eyes to allow for a more natural point of reference. His muscles flexed as he drew out one blade, and then the other- they looked to be both full vibroswords, but one was several inches shorter over the other. By the crackle of the cyan-white energy that ran alone the blade before he flicked off the energy that coursed through it hinted at an Echani design, and he shifted his left foot forward-his shorter blade holding close to him in his right while the other larger one was held out in his left arm in a bent arm to provide a narrower target. He considered his opponent, then shifted forward. "I do not think I've seen one of your kind before-might I ask where you come from-or one? You've definitely some distinctive traits." With that the shifting turned into a short forward hop on his feet and his arm lashed out, bringing it down in a arcing swing and making use of his larger reach and size to aim for a shoulder. Should a blade come in for a thrust or a slash from the right, his shorter blade would move to intercept. If from the left he would try with that hop to bounce now back from the swing. If they parried he would slip the blade downward slightly for a better angle but hold it there.

"I was born on tatooine however most of my species lives on Crystalsong" she said, still focused on the battle that would continue. The duel opened with her opponent swinging their longer blade towards her shoulder. To counter she leaped back just slightly, however while leaping back she had managed to lose her blade. Raven kept dropping her blade in battle, she might have even done it on purpose from time to time. Raven waited again for the next attack, never taking her eyes off her opponent.

"Crystalsong? I don't believe I've heard such a place-sounds like one would go for artistic inspiration." Hessai said as the blade swung through, the coils in the suit helping to bring back up the weight of the blade moving now coming back up in the upswing. The fact she dropped her blade was rather strange, and he moved on the cautious but forward approach and his foot came forward to step specifically on the side of the weapon, being careful to not have his foot come down to either break it nor hit the switch to turn on the electric charge of the weapon itself. His shorter blade came forward in a swifter stab towards the younger woman, using that movement to kick off the weapon. It was too heavy to spin away like some lightsaber hilt, but he could at least extend the range that one would have to go to get it. Keeping his longer range weapon at hand, it kept the offensive tool open but was still slower then his short weapon and he had to mind about a quick duck and advance to make a virtue of her smaller stature.

Seeing a swift thrust aim towards her Raven attempted to jump to left, it was a success, and for good measure she leaped backwards out of range again. Raven then looked to her sword, it was roughly 35 metres to her 8 o'clock. Turning back to her opponent she bent both the knees and wait.

(Is the tagging working for you?))

((Yep! I'm at work on nightshift after 7pm Mountain time till 5am))

The style looked to be a defensive, making use of the heavier opponent she faced as far as she seemed to work. With that in mind he took a risk and decided to lumber forward and to the right, watching the eyes and putting a estimated sort of position that put her within reach of either blade if she made a beeline. He decided for a broad wide swing with the shorter blade, giving the impression at first that was the limit of his reach as he made it a good quarter-foot away from her. He made this blade a lot more obvious then using the pivot of a foot to bring in the much longer sword to come down as the shorter blade came back to him, both momentum and weight giving him a faster strike to work from then before. Whether or not it would hit, it would be the start of a series of swings to keep him going at a faster pace with a regular breathing taking effect.

Raven was slightly confused when the shorter blade missed her, however she almost lost her ears when the second blade came swinging, she didn't lose a little skin on the tips of her ears. Ducking she rolled behind her opponent and made a dash for her own blade. Pain was flooded out of her ears yet she ignored it.

"Good movement!" Hessai said as he turned. He was not about to chase her as his third swing came in and missed her as she moved passed. Instead he resettled his stance and slipped the longer blade once again in front, with the shorter blade close to himself. His feet then shifted forward and back, letting his legs keep their flexibility but not to be moved off balance. For now the pace of the fight had been his-now that she had tasted what he could do, he was curious about her offensive capabilities. "Tell you what, land a good blow on my armor, and I'll pay for a set of drinks to cool us off after we're satisfied of our sparring." It never did hurt to give both of themselves incentives to block or strike did it?

Raven, using the force to lift the blade back to her. Facing her opponent, she nodded to the incentive "Sounds good to me". She tried to remain focused on the mission at hand, the pain from her ears didn't help.

Deciding that now was time of the offensive she ran towards her opponent but before entering each other blade ranges she leaped, it was a low flip. It was meant to allow Raven to slash at his back at the expense of defence.

He watched as it was confirmed she was a Force user, something to have kept in mind. Being struck in the back by a weapon thought "disarmed" was never pleasant when it turned around and thwacks you seeming of it's own accord. When she dashed for him he shifted to a crouch and blinked as she leapt in the air for a surprisingly height. Knowing to stand would simply cause them both to crash into one another, he instead attempted to a half thrust half slash over his head. He missed as the fox-like woman slipped by him, and his efforts with the bet cost him a strike along his backplate. It held firm, having meant for far more serious, but he grinned in his helmet. "Not bad, if risky. Got a drink preference miss...?" He turned slightly, as he shifted his body about to turn halfway and bringing his arm down with the shorter blade to make use of that pause after landing if she didn't move quickly.

The blade hit the dirt before her and he smiled wryly. Feints were all well and good, but she saw that one. He took his fingers and cleaned off the edges, checking for nicks and sheathing his blades into their proper places. "Hessai, it's been a pleasure so far; now where might we be heading?" He pulled off his helmet after unclipping the locks and rested it under his arm once more, properly warmed up and up for the drink in question. He wiped his own forehead with a brush of three fingers and looked down at her. "By yourself and wandering about then? You seem quite skilled for someone who might just be picking it up as they go along." He said, offering his arm if she wanted it but otherwise touching his free hand to his helmet and glancing at the GPS map as it popped up for somewhere to refresh.

Raven flinched after seeing the blade crashing down, she curled up thought the fight was over. Luckily the blade just hit the dirt. "Good to meet you Hessai." she said esily recovering from the shock. "I'm not all that familiar in this part I just end up walking in one Direction and then train." she continued. "Oh I didn't pick this up by myself" she explained when asked about her fighting. "I've had little training by professionals" she finished, not realising he had offered his arm.

He watched her flinch and the wry smile remained but it was a friendliness to it. She was rather cute up close when he had the time to look, letting his hands rest on his belt. Though, at least for the moment, when his mind wandered in that direction he wondered how young she was. "It works well enough, but I think I might teach you to grip the blade better; if nothing else to help you handle the weight and striking power of being enemies. I did notice the blade sort of became a problem after it decided to take a hike beyond the fight." He chuckled and lowered his arm as he found a location and gestured for her to follow him from the ruins, his footsteps a dull thud and clunk as armor shifted back comfortably in place.
