"Breewheep."

"You're right. Sorry I'm irritable. And thanks for carrying all my stuff."

"Blatt."

"You sure we're out of water?"

"Toodle."

"Feth's sake." Kells scrambled up a ridge and squinted. "Okay, I think I see the oasis. Apparently the source saw a glowing pyramid in a cave by the pond."

"Burrr?"

"Red."

"Boowoo."

"Watch your mouth."

Darth Imperium stood at the Oasis with the holocron of Darth Sidious in his hand. Finally... the power... the deep. oozing power of the dark-side.

It was then that he heard a voice and came out of his trance. He turned and saw a young man [[member="Lanter Kells"] ]

"Boy! Begone from this sacred place!"

Kells felt his mouth go dry. Well, maybe that was just Tatooine. Keeping an eye on the Mysterious Figure, he left the astromech and circled down to the edge of the oasis. He took a long drink, beaver fever be damned, and splashed lukewarm water down his neck and back. Then, and only then, did he stand and unclip his lightsaber. They stood maybe ten meters apart; Kells remained at the water's edge, with the pond behind him.

"You're Dark Side. I can smell it on ya. So like heck am I leaving you and that together."

Snap-hiss.

Imperium could feel the decent power from the young man and smirked. Perhaps a challenge. Perhaps an apprentice? No. He is a true Jedi. He then unclipped his lightsaber from his waist and ignited it.

Snap-hiss.

The red light illuminated and contrasted with his black cloak.

"If it is a fight you want... you have it."

Red lightsaber, red crystal pyramid in hand - your typical Sith combination of threat, opportunity, and bloody iconography. Kells let out a shaky breath and whipped his saber through a couple of quick X'es to loosen up his wrist. He settled into a two-handed guard. A strong Form Five approach might be tricky for a one-handed fighter to counter. Might even force the Sith to put down the holocron.

Kells' boots dug into the wet sand as he sprinted up from the water's edge. He aimed to pass to the left of the Sith, feint low, and swing at chest level when they stood beside each other.

The boy's form was quite exceptional. Djem So was a good strong form to take, a form he was master of... But he is also master of three other forms. One being the the perfect counter to his form. Form Three, Soresu.

Imperium saw the feint coming and blocked the strike with his one handed guard, using the force to augment his strength. Blue clashed with Red.

"Impressive, boy. But only true strength can be obtained through hatred."

He stepped back from the clashing sabers and took a strong Soresu stance before attempted a force push on [member="Lanter Kells"]

"Gorrammit-"

The Sith Lord's push lifted Kells off his feet. He tumbled into the shallows. Water closed over his head; he sputtered his way upright and reactivated his lightsaber. He offered silent thanks to Eyal M'ti, the Neti Grandmaster who'd made him waterproof his weapon. Boots squishing messily, Kells trudged onto the wet sand.

One or two at a time, small rocks began flying at Imperium from the front and sides. Not hard to intercept with a saber, but too large for a blade's width, they might just shower Imperium in molten stone droplets if he went that route. The main goal, though, was to crack the holocron.

To the Jedi's surprise, Imperium did not attempt to block or dodge. Instead he quickly put the holocron in his cloak and let the rocks hit him.

He stumbled back when the rock's hit, but launched some Force Lighting at the Jedi

Kells felt no desire to get hit by lightning while soaking wet and on damp sand. He felt no desire to get hit by lightning at the best of times. Therefore he got his lightsaber up and endeavored to intercept the attack. At some level it was pretty much the same thing as blocking blasterfire, he'd been told. He'd seen lightning in action, but never from this perspective.

The Sith attack hammered at his block and drove him back a half step at a time. Push any farther and he'd be in the water, and then the lightning really could get catastrophic.

Imperium saw his opportunity and trudged toward [member="Lanter Kells"] with purpose, pouring more power into his lighting, but stealthily using the force on the sand. With a whip of his hand he sent hand flying toward the Jedi's eyes.

Sand got in Kells' eyes and his concentration shattered. The lightning crashed past his guard. Wet sand, wet boots, and damp clothes made good conductors. Kells went flying.

The water closed over his head again, and he was gone. He fumbled at his utility belt for an aquata breather. The lightning's aftermath made him clumsy, but he fitted the small machine to his mouth and swam deeper, into the center of the small lake.

He'd failed. Not only had the Sith Lord secured the holocron, but he might find Kells' X-wing too, loaded with enough Jedi access codes to cause real trouble once or twice. And without that fighter, Kells faced a long walk to the nearest civilization.
