Description:
With conventional weaponry in the space sector of the galaxy, the Fel Imperium needed to adapt to the ever-changing environment that was the military. With the leading design aspects under Captain Vad'avi'nuruodo, the Fel Imperium and Koensayr Manufacturing presents the Solar Spear-class Assault Barge.
The Solar Spear features and elongated design with a sharp, pointed tip reinforced with layers of durasteel, glasteel, and alusteel for smashing through hostile ships and ripping them apart. This layering of plating is also coupled with the extra shielding provided by the vessel's recessed shield generators located near the engines of the frame. Also at the rear, sits an entire squadron of Artemis-class Starfighters and six Hades-class Gunships attached to launch ramps. These attack craft are locked in place by magnetic fields on the underbelly of their frame and need to be powered down electronically to maintain a secure fixation upon the Solar Spear.
Because of the massive electronic requirements for the Solar Spear's shield generators, its design was forced to limit its surface weaponry. The main armaments of the Solar Spear are a quad-fire linked battery of heavy ion cannons. These are forward mounted and serve to disable the shields of the Solar Spear's target to allow for easier penetration of the hull and reduce hull tension. The Solar Spear also houses twenty point defense batteries for anti-starfighter purposes, these batteries and seated near the middle of the frame and stretches to the rear to allow maximum coverage of its rear areas.
The crew complement of the Solar Spear is highly droid-oriented. Though the Solar Spear fields strong shield systems, the possibility of vessel loss is always an ever-present fear. The Fel Imperium decided to prevent casualties from mounting by staffing the majority of these vessels with only minimal organic officers and defense forces. The rest of the crew are mechanical in nature and operate with efficiency. Though, an internal EMP could disable the majority of the crew and render it disabled if the organic components don't act fast enough to restore it.
Built for ramming and direct contact, strong shields, minimal armament and complement, the Solar Spear-class Assault Barge pierces the galaxy with a finely chiseled point.

  • The CIS is presently using this image for one of their ships. This will have to change.
  • Your dimensions seem a bit off, as its tallest point would seem to be nearly the same length as the whole of the ship. Traditionally, ship's height was the shortest dimension.
  • Attaching fighters to a ship hull is a risky and dangerous operation, particularly if you attach them near the engine. If rapid deployment is your goal, then loading the fighters onto launch ramps would achieve the same effect, to the detriment of recalling fighters in a fight.
Overall, this is an interesting design. I was hesitant on the shield generators, described as they were, but you did severely reduce the ship's offensive capabilities for it, so I deem this an acceptable trade. Cover the nitpicks and this will be ready for approval.

Good work so far. Some other things that need attention;

  • Your crew count is grossly under what a ship of this size requires. A Victory-class Star Destroyer, being only 100 meters longer than this ship, requires a minimum crew of over 1,500 to operate.
  • Your armament seems... off. If this is supposed to be a standard cruiser, its missing a lot of its guns.

  • I've uped both Minimum and Optimal crew but I left Minimum lower than you listed mainly because this thing has a lot less weaponry and support systems than a Victory-class does.
  • I intentionally kept the armament low. This is mainly because most of the power output is diverted to the shield generators of this vessel and there's only limited weaponry for Point Defense situations.
